Jake Paul's manager insists Anthony Joshua fight ‘can absolutely happen'
Bidarian appeared on Sky Sports News and confirmed they are pursuing the fight with 'AJ'. He said that he sees Paul as the 'A-side' for this fight and that, looking at Joshua's record, two of his losses came against Oleksandr Usyk, who is an undersized heavyweight in the modern era and of vaguely similar dimensions to Paul.
Bidarian said: 'I think the fight can absolutely happen. I'm looking at it as Jake vs Joshua, which is quite impactful in many ways.
'If you look at Anthony Joshua, I think he is 28-4, and two of his losses are against Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk weighed in at 220lbs for those fights'.
The Most Valuable Promotions co-founder was quick to add that he was not drawing comparisons in ability between Paul and the undisputed heavyweight champion, but at his walk-around weight and having already bulked up to face Mike Tyson last year, the match-up is a realistic proposition.
Bidarian explained: 'Jake is not Usyk – a lot more years of experience are needed to get to that level. But Jake walks around between 208-210 lbs, and he fought Mike Tyson at 228 lbs, so I think size-wise we can get comfortable with it."
Joshua is yet to return to the ring since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last year and a minor surgery on his elbow but could make his comeback before the end of the year.
Crossover boxing is no stranger to Joshua, who produced a devastating knockout of his own against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in March 2024.
Paul continues to make waves in the boxing world, in the unlikely pursuit of a world title. He defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June, which earned him a spot in the top 15 of the WBA cruiserweight rankings.
Bidarian believes that Paul has gained enough experience to take on an 'ageing' Joshua and revealed they are in active conversations with Eddie Hearn 's Matchroom.
He said: 'I think experience-wise, Jake is learning fast and growing, and Joshua is a little long in the tooth. It could be a very interesting match-up, and we are actively discussing it with Matchroom. '

But their second game of the weekend between Championship winners Falkirk and Dundee United didn't quite go to plan. So much so, that mid-way through the first half, Sky were forced to issue an on-air apology to punters watching at home. While pre-match analysis and build-up went without a hitch, a major issue cropped up once the game commenced. That's because commentators Gary Weaver and James McFadden were way out of sync with the pictures. Early on in the match, the sound appeared to briefly cut out and once it came back, it was very obviously not in sync with what was going on. A sizeable delay appeared to be in play, with the commentators' description of what was happening not following until several seconds after the pictures had shown what they were describing. Around the 25th minute of the match, a graphic appeared in the bottom right of the screen simply saying: "Apologies for sound issues." The graphic remained on screen for around 10 minutes. In the 35th minute of the game, the sound appeared to briefly dip out for a second or two and after that, the commentary was back in sync with the action. Billy Dodds on returning to Rangers under Barry Ferguson, defeating Mourinho & ending Celtic Park hoodoo Presenter Eilidh Barbour also acknowledged the issues when she picked up in the studio during the half time break. Addressing the audience, she said: "Apologies for the sound issues during that first half, hopefully you still enjoyed that first 45." The issue didn't go down too well with punters watching on at home. One said: "Match commentary well behind the TV pictures." A second fan said: "Please fix the audio for the Falkirk/Dundee United game, it's about 30 seconds behind the actual game." Another posted: "Thought it was just me. Even switched my TV on and off." While the issue appeared to have been resolved before the half time whistle, it returned as the second half kicked-off with the commentary once again obviously well behind the pictures. Super-sized padel warehouse causes planning row
A planning row has broken out over a super-sized padel centre that locals fear will create a 'tremendous noise'. A warehouse unit surrounded by residential streets in Christchurch in Dorset has been earmarked for the giant venue for one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK. But neighbours claim the centre would cause huge traffic problems and noise pollution for those living in the area. Padel is a cross between tennis and squash which has grown in popularity in recent years, with celebrities including Annabel Croft and Michael McIntyre among its fans. Unlike in tennis, a padel racket is solid with no strings and is thicker – meaning it makes a very loud noise when striking the ball. As a result, padel has also gained a reputation as a particularly noisy and disruptive sport. Some 25 people have objected since the plans were submitted by company Advantage Padel to the local council. The new centre will have nine full-size courts, as well as four singles courts, which would mean up to 44 people could play at the same time. It would be open from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, which residents say would give 'no respite' to anyone affected by the business. Mark Anderson said: 'Padel tennis is very loud and multiple courts being used all times of day and evening will be very disruptive. I feel that this facility will add a lot of noise in the area.' Julia Gladstone said: 'This facility will result in a huge increase in the volume of traffic entering and exiting a small complex of business units. 'The centre will be open from early morning to late evening and will create a high level of noise which will effect local residents and have a negative impact on their use of the garden for relaxation. 'The increase in both noise and air pollution that will be caused by the introduction of such a large facility cannot be ignored.' Concerns were also raised that the new centre would push out a much smaller padel business just 350 yards away. The PicklePad, the UK's first dedicated pickleball and padel indoor centre, opened in January just around the corner from where Advantage Padel want to put its new centre. Padel has the same scoring system as tennis, but different rules, strokes and techniques. It was invented in Mexico in the 1960s, but soared in popularity during the Covid pandemic as it could be played outside and did not involve physical contact. By 2023 there were more than 25 million active players across 90 countries. In the UK, the Lawn Tennis Association said the number of courts had increased from 50 in 2019 to 350, and it aims to have 1,000 courts by the end of next year.

Hinchliffe, meanwhile, turned in a 10.01 run. 4 Hughes is set to return to the track next month at the World Championships in Tokyo. And he'll be hoping the same fortune which followed him after he scooped the British crown in 2023 will be with him in Japan. But this time around, he'll be hoping to improve on the bronze medal he took home in Budapest.
