'Charlie was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday to undergo testing related to an upper-body injury sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off and is currently being evaluated by Boston Bruins Head Team Physician Dr. Peter Asnis,' the team said in a statement. 'He will not play for Team USA in the 4-Nations Face-Off Championship on Thursday at TD Garden.'
McAvoy had been a key piece on the back end for the Americans, particularly in Saturday's game against Canada, where the Bruins defenseman made an impact with his physicality with multiple hits each on Canadian stars Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid.

Report: Kevin Durant Trade Expected to Happen Sooner Than Later
In the past few days, the Minnesota Timberwolves have surged back to the front of the Kevin Durant deal-making line, after trade talks between the Wolves and Suns were put into the offseason microwave by the two front offices this week. Once Wolves + Durant chatter picked up this week, many around the league have tagged Minnesota as the perfect landing spot for the 36-year-old 10x All-NBA selection. This, after the two sides got close, but ultimately failed to complete a last-second deal before the trade deadline back in February. Advertisement Related: NBA Insider Reveals Realistic Kevin Durant Trade Scenario In the flurry of reports that dropped around that time, and then again after the season ended, KD has made it known around league circles that Minnesota is one of his top-choice destinations. And that's because the Timberwolves have what Kevin Durant is looking for. Credit: John David Mercer-Imagn Images Not only (and most importantly) are the Wolves ready to win right now, but also, KD has quite the bromance developing with 23-year-old phenom, Anthony Edwards. It's a relationship that was recently made much stronger when the two won gold together with Team USA at the 2024 Olympics. I have no doubt that their friendship plays a role in Kevin Durant's thinking right now too. Kevin Durant trade timeline reportedly speeding up… As of Thursday, the word around the NBA street was that the Suns had set a self-induced deadline for a KD trade to be executed by the start of the NBA Draft, which tips off on Wednesday, June 25. That way, they would be able to capitalize on any 2025 draft capital they might receive back in any Durant deal. Advertisement Life moves fast during the NBA offseason, however, and according to Shams Charania (ESPN) today on the Pat McAfee Show, the KD trade talks have nearly boiled over in the past 24 hours. As of this afternoon, the league's most trusted insider is reporting that there are currently three teams leading the pursuit of Kevin Durant (Wolves, Rockets, Heat) and that he now expects a trade to be consummated within the next few days. 'You said a week, I think [a Kevin Durant trade] could be even sooner than that. I think there's some motivation with some teams, potentially even sooner than seven days, potentially in the next few days, we could get some Kevin Durant trade action. There is some serious traction on conversations, on trade scenarios with the Suns. They've had about six to eight teams reach out. There's been interest, there's been some offers, there's been some negotiations. But really, in the last 24-48 hours, I'm told the focus on the Suns conversations have been with a few teams, the Houston Rockets, the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves. I'm told those are the teams where a lot of the focus for Durant lies.' Shams Charania – Pat McAfee Show (ESPN) If the Wolves land Durant, what could a trade package look like? The Timberwolves need another high-volume scoring threat to compliment Anthony Edwards. Who better to fill that role than arguably the most dynamic scorer in NBA history? Even better, Ant sees KD in a light that he doesn't view any other NBA colleague, being he grew up worshipping Kevin Durant. Advertisement Related: Minnesota Timberwolves *Almost* All In on Kevin Durant… Of course, none of this guarantees the Wolves will land Durant. If they do, Shams warns that a contract extension may not immediately be on the table for, depending on where he ends up. 'He's on an expiring contract, about $54 million, and that could come up as an issue here. If there's a team that for sure wants his extension, or will there be a team — like what happened with Kawhi Leonard in 2018 — where they literally had no idea whether he wanted to be there, probably didn't want to be there, and then they trade for him, win a championship, and then he leaves anway. So will there be a team, whether it's in this mix or a wildcard team, that just takes a swing and banks on themselves in hopes that they can potentially make a deep run and keep him there. But that is going to be the big question.' Shams Charania – Pat McAfee Show (ESPN) We do now know exactly what the Minnesota Timberwolves have on the table for KD. But Friday morning, former NBA GM turned Shams colleague at ESPN, Bobby Marks, put out what he described as a realistic trade scenario between the Wolves and Suns. It had Durant coming over for a package that included Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, Mike Conley and a 1st round draft pick later this month. You can read more about that HERE. Kevin Durant Drops One-Word Reaction As Stephen A. Smith Predicts End Of NBA All-Star Weekends
Kevin Durant Drops One-Word Reaction As Stephen A. Smith Predicts End Of NBA All-Star Weekends originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Adam Silver recently announced that the NBA will shift to a Team USA vs. Team World format, rather than dividing into teams based on conferences. Stephen A. Smith, the NBA analyst from ESPN, was not happy with this decision and claimed it would cause the end of NBA All-Star weekends altogether. Advertisement Kevin Durant, the 15-time NBA All-Star, feels Stephen A. Smith is being too overzealous in his reaction to Adam Silver's latest announcement. He went on social media and expressed his feelings about Smith's response in one word. "Dramatic," wrote Durant on an X post with Smith's quotes. Adam Silver went on FS1's 'Breakfast Ball' and confirmed that the 2026 All-Star Game will feature the Team USA vs. World format in some way or another. "So next year, as part of our new media deals, the All-Star Game returns to NBC, where it was when we were younger. And it so happens that next season, we'll be smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics." Advertisement "The game will be on NBC, and the very day we're on, the lead-in will be Winter Olympic events, and then coming out of the All-Star Game, which is now going to be in the afternoon instead of the evening, there will be more Olympic events. So what better time to feature some form of USA against the World?" In response to this announcement, Stephen A. Smith went on ESPN's "First Take" show and tore into Silver's decision. He seemed to love the decision from Adam Silver but his response indicated an underlying unhappiness with the players. Smith claimed that even Magic Johnson did not care about the All-Star weekend, and this will be a way to make the best players in the world play competitive basketball. However, he later implied that this was a last-resort option for the NBA, and we could witness the end of the All-Star weekend if this new format does not lead to competitive basketball. What Other ESPN Analysts Said About The New NBA All-Star Format Brian Windhorst and Jay Williams also appeared on the First Take segment with Smith following this decision. Windhorst agreed with Smith and said that this is a way to "shame" the players into playing competitive basketball. He even recalled a Kevin Durant incident during the Olympics, where some of the European players claimed American basketball is only entertainment, and Durant questioned whether it's entertaining at all. Advertisement Jay Williams was not at all skeptical about the decision and claimed this would bring accountability to players. He feels that when they go up against major European players like Antetokounmpo, Jokic, or Wembanyama, it will spark a sense of patriotism that will fuel the best basketball American players can also play. Do you think this changed format will help the NBA All-Star weekend generate more viewership ratings? Let us know what you think in the comments section. Honoring Charlie: Knoxville community tees off to remember young golfer's selfless spirit
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — What does it mean to love like Charlie? 'To be loyal, to be kind, to be giving and to put others before you,' said Charlie's dad, Jimmy Schuster. The phrase embodies how Charlie Schuster lived his life. 'He was very selfless, he thought of others, especially those that he loved, he would just give you the shirt off his back. I just remember he always wanted to be the first Christmas present under the tree that he was giving to other people, he loved his family, loved his friends, it's fitting,' said Jimmy. East Tennessee pastor's 6,000-mile motorcycle ride raising money for free literacy program Charlie passed away in a car accident in early January, but his legacy is far from over. It lives on through events like Thursday's Swider Christmas Classic 2025 golf outing. This year, the event partnered with Charlie's dad, Jimmy Schuster. The event raises funds for the Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association, but this year it also honored Charlie. Funds are being donated to the Charlie Schuster Scholarship Fund and the Connection Center Fig Tree Program in Charlie's honor. 'Just means a lot because, you know, we're gonna be giving to quite a few charities in his honor, and that just means a lot to keep his legacy alive and do positive things,' said Jimmy. A fitting place to honor Charlie, as he had been preparing to play his first season on the green with Hardin Valley. 'He actually loved to golf, he was transitioning from baseball to golf, and he actually planned to golf at Hardin Valley High School that year, which is fitting because Avalon is their home course, so we're glad to have it here,' Jimmy said. Charlie didn't have too much experience on the links, but golf came easily. 'That's the funny thing, He was just natural, his baseball swing helped him out, but he was just natural, I think his baseball swing helped him a lot,' said Jimmy. Even though his dad still had to teach him a few things. 'He used to always tell me how good he was and his scores, and then when I first played with him, I had to teach him how to score properly,' said Jimmy. 'It always just feels like home': Hendon Hooker draws inspiration from youth football camp in Knoxville Part of the reason Charlie loved golf was that he got to spend time with friends and family. Who learned through Charlie, what it meant to love like Charlie, something everyone could do a little more of, 'Being kind to others especially those in need, just thinking of others, putting others before yourself… he did a lot of good things for people, went out of his way,' Jimmy said. So the next time you pick up a golf club and tee off, let that be your reminder to love like Charlie. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
