Thursday Murder Club trailer offers first look at David Tennant's character
Director Chris Columbus confirmed in an interview with entertainment news website Collider in April that Doctor Who star Tennant, 54, would play Ian, the owner of Coopers Chase retirement village, where the four retirees live, with Olivier-winning actor Sir Jonathan, 78, starring as Stephen, the husband of Dame Helen's character, Elizabeth.
The trailer, which follows the release of a teaser in May, features a clip of Tennant with slicked back hair and a Dolce and Gabbana T-shirt looking angry.
In another clip his character says: 'I'm not worried about the cantankerous old farts.'
Meanwhile, Sir Jonathan is shown wearing a brown cardigan, blue shirt and glasses in his role as Elizabeth's husband, who suffers from dementia in the book.
Among the other cast members are: Saltburn star Richard E Grant; Miranda's Tom Ellis; Mickey 17 actress Naomi Ackie; Line Of Duty star Daniel Mays; and Indian Summers actor, Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
The trailer also shows Elizabeth, Ibrahim (Sir Ben) and Ron (Brosnan), introducing themselves as the Thursday Murder Club to Imrie's character, Joyce, an ex-nurse who becomes the latest member of the group.
Ackie, who plays a police constable, is seen investigating as is May's character who says: 'Police work is off-limits to anyone who isn't the police.'
Elsewhere, Elizabeth receives a bouquet of flowers telling her to 'back off' and she is later seen bumping into a mysterious figure in the dead of night who tells her to not 'wake the dead.'
Harry Potter director Columbus said: 'This is the finest cast I've worked with since Potter.
'They're just so incredibly well-prepared, and it's because they do everything. They do theatre, they do television, they do film, and they've developed those sorts of muscles.'
Osman has written four Thursday Murder Club books with a fifth, The Impossible Fortune, set for publication in September.
The TV star, 54, who became a household name on Pointless, left the hit TV quiz show in 2022 to concentrate on writing, having co-hosted alongside Alexander Armstrong since its debut in 2009.
The Thursday Murder Club will land on Netflix on August 28.

Mel Gibson becomes emotional as he recalls ‘joy' of making Braveheart
The Oscar-winning director and actor posed for selfies with fans and signed posters before attending a musical performance of movie songs in Co Meath. Gibson starred in Braveheart as Scottish rebel William Wallace, as he sets out to challenge King Edward I of England. The film won Oscars for best director and best picture. Speaking after the score from the 1995 film was played by an orchestra in a tent in Trim on Saturday, Gibson told the audience that composer James Horner was inspired by Celtic music. He said this allowed him to relive parts of his Irish heritage, and Gibson became emotional as he spoke about Horner. 'This film was a joy to make, and my mother was born in Longford so I was raised on this kind of music myself, so it was a real treat for me to explore this culture and the sound of it,' he said. 'In the Braveheart score, you can hear bits and pieces of old tunes that he borrowed from. He drew from a very rich source of music and poetry that's part of this country, as well as Scotland.' He also retold a story about meeting three of the four Beatles at Abbey Road, where the score was recorded. The Scottish epic was mostly shot in Ireland after the Irish government lobbied and offered to supply 1,600 army reserves as extras. Gibson said that while filming in Scotland was 'fantastic', the ground was not firm enough for the big battle scenes. He said then arts minister Michael D Higgins, who is now Ireland's president, made the film possible. 'So it's very interesting to be able to come back 12 years later and actually meet Mel Gibson here, and this little lad wasn't even alive at the time.' Irish actor Patrick Bergin introduced the music from Sleeping With The Enemy, in which he starred in opposite Julia Roberts. He told a story about how, after auditioning for the role, he tried to leave the room and walked into a broom closet. 'As I came out of the closet (director) Joe Ruben said 'it was the look in your eye that got you the part'.' Actor Kate O'Toole told the story of how her father was away for two years to film Lawrence Of Arabia, before introducing the theme from the film played by the orchestra. 'One of the weird things about it that still stays with me is that scene with the quicksand, I really thought when I was a child that going to the beach was dangerous,' she told the crowd. Comic Con Wales 2025 includes The Matrix's Morpheus
Thousands showed up at Newport's ICC, with this year marking the events fourth edition. Tonnes of video game and pop culture references were jam packed inside. There was even a retro gaming room with old school video games like Pac Man. Then, on the upper level's fans had the chance to meet some of their pop culture idols at panel meet and greets. From photo opportunities to autograph signings and Q&A's the whole experience was very immersive! Doctor Who's Matt Smith returns to sci-fi with new role alongside Hollywood star
Matt Smith, best known for his title role as Doctor Who in the early 2010s, has reportedly been cast opposite Barbie star Ryan Gosling in a new Star Wars film Matt Smith is best remembered by fans of Doctor Who for starring as the Eleventh Doctor on the long-running BBC series, but now he's reportedly been cast in another well-known sci-fi franchise. According to Deadline, the actor, 42, has joined the cast of Star Wars: Star Fighter, although just what his role will be in the latest instalment of the George Lucas' film series is not yet known, although sources have claimed to the outlet that he will be taking on the 'villain' of the piece. What's more he will be a part of the cast alongside Barbie star Ryan Gosling, and Mia Goth also has a part. It has also been reported that filming will take place this autumn, and it will be released on May 28 2027. Little is known about the project, but it was initially announced in April at the Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo. It will be set five years after Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker, which brought the Skywalker saga of the franchise to a close. It comes after ITV makes major decision on I'm A Celebrity's future after talks with officials. Fans will remember that Matt succeeded David Tennant in the role of the titular timelord, and was succeeded by Peter Capaldi. In total, Matt starred in 45 episodes of Doctor Who from 2010 untuil 2013, and then returned for a guest appearance the following year. He then went on to play a young Prince Philip in the first series of Netflix hit The Crown, where he starred opposite Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth during the early years of her reign. Since 2022, he has played Daemon Targaryen on the Game of Thrones spin-off House of Dragon, and also appeared in the West End production of An Enemy of the People last year. The actor is rather guarded when it comes to his private life, but earlier this year, he was seen sharing a kiss in the street with Brazilian model and trainee doctor Jessica Felix. The couple looked happy together but Matt said last year he's in 'no rush' to settle down. 'Oh, my mum asks me that every day. I don't know, I don't know… I'm in no rush at the moment,' he said after being quizzed on his love life. However, It seems if he has a type, Jessica fits the bill. Back in 2009, Matt dated Brazilian actor Mayana Moura in 2009. The pair reportedly broke it off after struggling with the long distance. He's not short of famous exes either, with the actor notably dating fashion model Daisy Lowe for almost two years from 2010. The couple are said to have split after conflicting schedules, with Matt rising to prominence in Doctor Who while Daisy focused on modelling. This came after a reportedly brief romance with Billie Piper, who he appeared alongside in several BBC dramas before being spotted holding hands with in 2006. Matt then had a relationship with Lily James, whom he met in 2014 and was on and off with until breaking things off for good in 2020. The Hollywood power couple are thought to have differing views on marriage and kids, with Matt sharing his hopes for a family in 2018. He said: "I am thinking about kids quite a lot.
