Over the preseason, each profile will cover the player's background, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for James Franklin this season.
Defensive end Yvan Kemajou wasn't viewed as one of the top recruits in Penn State's 2025 class, but the early returns have been promising. Kemajou earned a starting role opposite Zuriah Fisher for the blue team in Penn State's annual Blue-White Game and was called a "monster" by strength coach Chuck Losey, leading to optimism entering the season.

Longhorns offer top recruit in 2027 class

On Sunday afternoon, the Texas Longhorns were busy on the recruiting trail. They made offers to multiple prospects in the 2027 class, including talented defensive back Eli Johnson. The Texas native has drawn interest from some of the top programs in the nation, and now the Longhorns have entered the mix. At the moment, Johnson has received offers from Houston, Florida State, Colorado State, California, and Baylor. He is ranked as the 14th-best safety and the 24th player from the Lone star state in his class by 247Sports. That could change over the next few months, as Johnson has not set a commitment date. Advertisement While many schools are still in the mix, Johnson did not hide his excitement about receiving an offer from Texas on social media. In a post on his X account, the Steele High School product said, " Beyond blessed to receive my 20th offer from Texas Football." The Longhorns 2027 class only has one commitment so far in Taven Epps. The four-star recruit is ranked as the fifth-best linebacker in his class. If Johnson chose Texas, a defense that includes Epps and Johnson would make life hard for offensive coordinators. Although the Longhorns still have plenty of time to add talent, they have made their interest in Johnson clear. Their next step will be to get Johnson to campus for a visit. That will give Steve Sarkisian and his coaching staff a chance to provide Johnson with a preview of what his future could hold as a Longhorn. MSU's newest commit, 3-star LB Braylon Hodge reportedly cancels remaining official visits

MSU's newest commit, 3-star LB Braylon Hodge reportedly cancels remaining official visits Michigan State picked up a commitment from a prized linebacker prospect on Sunday, and it appears he is locked in with the Spartans for the long haul. High-end three-star linebacker Braylon Hodge of Englewood, Colo. committed to Michigan State on Sunday afternoon following his official visit to the Spartans' campus. As part of that commitment, Justin Thind of 247Sports is reporting that Hodge will cancel his other previously scheduled official visits to Iowa, Utah and Minnesota. Thind considered this as "impressive" on the Spartans' part and added that Hodge's commitment was a "great start to June" for Michigan State. Hodge ranks as the No. 45 linebacker in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. He holds a recruiting rating of 88 -- which is close to being a four-star prospect -- and is a top player in the state of Colorado. Like Thind, I found this additional report on the cancelling of Hodge's other official visits as notable. This was the first official visit Hodge took, and with no other official visits planned now, it seems like Michigan State will be in a great position to retain this commitment all the way to signing day in December. Ohio State Gets Good News on Touted Playmaker This Week

Ohio State Gets Good News on Touted Playmaker This Week originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes will get a head start on the 2027 recruiting class this month, particularly at tight end. Advertisement Four-star tight end Brock Williams told On3 last week that he will visit Columbus, Ohio during the first week of June. "Four-star Libertyville (Ill.) tight end Brock Williams tells Lettermen Row that he plans to visit Ohio State from June 6-7," wrote On3's Mick Walker. "Williams will be on campus the same time as four-star Huntington Beach (Calif.) quarterback and Buckeye commit Brady Edmunds. "The two have been in frequent communication over the past few months." Ohio State made its offer to the 2027 tight end prospect in January. Ohio State Buckeyes football head coach Ryan Day© Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images On3 ranked Williams as the No. 1 tight end in the 2027 recruiting class. According to other rankings, Williams is the No. 2 tight end in the class. Advertisement Based on the 247Sports composite rankings, Williams is the No. 2 tight end but a five-star prospect. As expected because he's a highly regarded recruit, Williams has received dozens of offers according to 247Sports. But the Buckeyes may be an early favorite for the top tight end. Williams told On3 his first visit at Ohio State in March went "amazing." 'The thing that stood out the most, how I was treated and how many of the recruits were treated. All around an amazing visit," said Williams. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Williams will play his final two high school seasons for Libertyville in Illinois. The top-rated tight end also plays defense for his high school team.
