Now considered a classic, the 1985 saloon - once a regular sight on British roads - has been whittled down to just a few hundred with valid MOTs, according to How Rare is My Car.
In fact, the precise number is recorded at 766 - with Rory's likely one of the better ones.
During its peak years, Vauxhall sold around 500,000 Nova units between 1983 and 1993 - positioning it as a strong rival to the Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 205, and Renault 5.
For Rory, the Nova holds plenty of sentimental value as it was his very first car.

But for Rory, who has dyslexia and has always struggled with academics, the restoration has meant much more to him than just merely upgrading an old car.
'This Nova is more than just a car, it's a personal passion project that I've brought back to life when it thought its days were numbered,' Rory said.
'Growing up with dyslexia, I always found it easier to learn by doing and express myself through hands-on work rather than academics, which led me naturally into more practical and creative outlets.

'Building this car was more than a restoration - it was a way to channel my strengths and creativity into something I'm proud of.'
The extensive six-year restoration all took place at Rory's workshop and involved bespoke engineering and a full custom build - featuring upgraded metalwork, a concrete grey respray and a race-tuned 1.6-litre 8v engine.

He added: 'From the custom engineering to the race-ready build, every detail reflects my dedication to both preserving its heritage and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

Lancaster's Pride of Ownership award is highly coveted by classic car owners, as it recognises not only their craftsmanship and dedication, but the stories that make classic cars so meaningful to their owners.
The award is voted for by classic car enthusiasts who visit the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show.

Bank of Ireland may be less exposed than expected to car-finance redress, says analyst
Denis McGoldrick of Goodbody says while it will still be some time before we known exactly how much redress has to be paid by the bank, the court decision narrows the range of outcomes and ends the uncertainty that has been hanging over the sector. 'Bank of Ireland set aside a provision of £143m (€164m) in FY24, and our estimates included an additional €100m in FY25 on top of this,' he said in a note to investors. Mr McGoldrick told the Irish Independent that he will have to rethink the numbers following the Supreme Court decision, but 'my sense is that Bank of Ireland may add €100m to its provision, but doesn't need to go beyond that'. He said the key areas where the Supreme Court found in favour of the banks were ones which would have led to the biggest uplift in compensation. The case centred on commissions paid by lenders to car dealerships, which were not fully disclosed to customers and incentivised higher interest rates on loans. The court found that car dealers did not owe a fiduciary duty to their customers. Mr McGoldrick said he does not believe he has to revise upwards his estimate of the provision that Bank of Ireland, whose chief executive is Myles O'Grady, needs to make, and 'it may come in lower'. The bank controls about 2pc of the UK motor finance market. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is setting up a wide-ranging compensation scheme, and the consumer champion Martin Lewis said in a video posted on X that millions of people are likely to be due payments from it. He estimates it is likely 40pc of those who got a car-finance deal between 2007 and 2021 will be due redress. The FCA said the compensation scheme is expected to cost between £9bn and £18bn, but it is difficult to estimate how much. Analysts have pointed out, however, that the total amount put aside by lenders as a provision comes to just £2bn. Apart from Bank of Ireland's £143m, some £1.15bn has been put aside by Lloyds, which is considered the biggest player with a 15pc share of the British car-finance market. The gap between the regulator's estimate and the amounts set aside could be covered by insurance. Mr McGoldrick said some of the bigger lenders may have done this, but Bank of Ireland has not indicated it has recourse to insurance cover.

Aston Martin have reportedly decided to refrain from giving interviews to Sky Germany due to what they perceive as recent negative coverage of the team, according to Express Sport. This comes in the wake of alleged biased reporting from the broadcaster. As per a report from German newspaper BILD, Aston Martin declined Sky Germany's request to interview their chief trackside officer, Mike Krack, ahead of the Hungarian GP. Team owner Lawrence Stroll also turned down an opportunity for a live on-air chat. Ralf Schumacher explained the situation to viewers, stating: "I know they're not giving us any more interviews because they don't like us that much at the moment."
