Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Saturday witnessed the convocation ceremony of the 9th cohort of master's students at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI), attended by ministers, along with Chair of the DI Board of Trustees Dr Azmi Bishara and several members of the governing board. Held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, the event witnessed the graduation of 220 students, including 150 from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and 70 from the School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policy, representing 28 nationalities. Among them were 95 graduates supported by the Qatar Fund for Development as part of the State of Qatar's International Scholarships Programme, with the number of Qatari graduates standing at 71. QNA Doha Qatar has reiterated its firm and supportive stances on the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as on the realisation of the aspirations of its fraternal people for a dignified life and the building of a state of institutions and law. This came as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received a high-level Syrian ministerial delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic HE Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani, accompanied by seven ministers, in Doha on Tuesday. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening the solid fraternal relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. At the outset of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates conveyed the greetings of President of the Syrian Arab Republic HE Ahmed Al Sharaa to His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wishes for the State of Qatar, its government, and people, continued progress and prosperity. The Syrian minister also expressed Syria's deep appreciation for the State of Qatar's initiatives and continuous efforts in support of the reconstruction process in Syria, praising Qatar's firm stances toward supporting the Syrian people. In turn, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to the president of the Syrian Arab Republic, and His Highness' wishes for continued health and happiness for His Excellency, and for continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of the Syrian Arab Republic. The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasising the depth of fraternal ties that unite them and their mutual commitment to strengthening and developing cooperation in various areas of common interest. The meeting also discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the energy, economy, trade, finance, tourism, communications, information technology, higher education, development, and other sectors, including: • Support and supply the Syrian Arab Republic with electricity. • Settling the Syrian Arab Republic's debt to the World Bank, jointly by the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. • Providing joint financial support from the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the salaries of public sector workers in the Syrian Arab Republic for a period of three months. The Qatari side reiterated the State of Qatar's firm and supportive stances on the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as on the realization of the aspirations of its fraternal people for a dignified life and the building of a state of institutions and law. It also categorically rejected any attempts to undermine Syria's unity or undermine its national sovereignty. For its part, the Syrian side affirmed its pride in the State of Qatar's supportive stance towards the Syrian people, praising its supportive role at various stages and reiterating the Syrian Arab Republic's commitment to the principles of respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The event brought together 200 Qatari employees from across PUE, showcasing inspiring success stories and fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and ongoing development within QF's learning community. During the gathering, Abeer Al Khalifa, president of QF's Pre-University Education, noted: 'This annual forum is more than just a traditional event. It's a moment to celebrate the initiatives and achievements we've built together, and the meaningful impact they continue to make. 'Through their spirit of teamwork and dedication, everyone has embodied the values of our Foundation and contributed to driving progress and delivering initiatives that we take great pride in today.' Tribune News Network Doha The Qatar men's national basketball team triumphed in Stage 6 of the FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League - Asia-Pacific which concluded on Tuesday at the Federation Hall at Al Gharafa. Besides hosts Qatar, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Chinese Taipei were part of the tournament with six teams competing in each category. Qatar men's team secured the championship with a thrilling 17-14 victory in the final over New Zealand, marking a remarkable journey through the tournament, having previously defeated Chinese Taipei (21-9) and Indonesia (21-14) in the initial round. The accomplishment took Qatar team's score to 520 points, achieved by winning the third and sixth rounds and finishing second in the first, second, and fourth rounds. This progress brings the team closer to qualifying for the World Championships, which are set to take place in Xiong'an, China, from September 17 to 21, while other continental qualifiers await the conclusion of their respective qualifying rounds. New Zealand secured second place in the sixth round after reaching the final by overcoming the Philippines (18-16) and Singapore (21-19). The Kiwis accumulated 560 points, having won the first, second, fourth, and fifth rounds, while finishing second in the third and sixth rounds. The Philippines claimed third place with 420 points, followed by Singapore with 325 points, Chinese Taipei with 305 points, and Indonesia with 300 points. The Qatar men's national team comprised Hamad Yassin Ismail Musa, Zeineddine Badri, Nizar Mahmoud, Ahmed Saeed Mohammed, and Mubarak Jama. In the women's competition, New Zealand secured victory in the sixth round by defeating Chinese Taipei in the final 21-19, taking their total points to 480, placing them in second position. The Philippines led the overall standings with 530 points, while Chinese Taipei followed in third place with 480 points, Singapore ranked fourth with 360 points, Indonesia was fifth with 310 points, and the Qatari national team rounded out the standings in sixth place with 270 points. The tournament was graced by the presence ofMohammed bin Saad Al Mughaiseeb, President of Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF); His Excellency Timmy Davis, Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Qatar; Captain Yassin Ismail, Director of the 3x3 Committee at the Federation; Talal Saad Al Mughaiseeb, Tournament Director; along with several officials and guests of the tournament. At the conclusion of the event, Al Mughaiseeb and His Excellency the US Ambassador presented the champions of the sixth stage, the Qatar men's and New Zealand women's national teams, with their awards. Additionally, the New Zealand men's and Philippines women's national teams were recognized for their achievements in leading the overall standings and officially qualifying for the World Championship. QBF President Mohammed bin Saad Al Mughaiseeb, remarked: 'We take great pride in the exceptional performance of our national youth team, which exemplifies the ongoing efforts and strategy implemented by the Association to enhance the 3x3 game at the youth level.' He added: 'Winning this stage of the Nations League amid strong competition confirms that Qatar has a rising generation of basketball talent, and hosting the tournament at this distinguished level further enhances Qatar's position as a regional and international sports hub.' Al Mughaiseeb concluded his statement by saying: 'We aspire for more, and we will continue to support our players to ensure that Qatar is honorably represented in upcoming tournaments.' Special tribute to US Ambassador In a gesture that reflects the deep sporting and diplomatic relations between the two countries,the QBF President honoured His Excellency Ambassador Timmy Davis in appreciation of his presence and continued support for sporting events, and his role in strengthening sports cooperation between Qatar and the United States.
