Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu orders precautionary measures as Krishna inflows rise
He instructed departments to remain on high alert, monitor inflows into the Krishna river and its tributaries, and take steps to prevent flooding.
The irrigation officials informed the chief minister that inflows into the Krishna river have reached 3 lakh cusecs and could rise to 5 lakh cusecs by Thursday. All incoming water is currently being discharged into the sea. Naidu directed officials to issue timely alerts to residents in low-lying areas and relocate them if necessary.
He also asked MAUD officials to clear stagnant water from roads and urban pockets immediately.
In addition to flood mitigation, Naidu emphasized the strategic use of excess water. He proposed diverting four TMC of water daily to fill the Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs. Officials noted that heavy rains in upper catchment areas like Mylavaram are contributing significant inflows into Budameru and Velagaleru, which are being discharged into the Krishna River.

The Budameru diversion channel is being fast-tracked, and Naidu sanctioned Rs 40 crore for completing the Budameru–Velagaleru utility tunnel.
Officials also briefed the CM on floodwater management from Kondaveeti Vagu and Paala Vagu, which is being pumped into the Krishna River using four high-capacity pumps. Naidu instructed departments to carry out de-siltation and remove water hyacinth from canals to ensure smooth flow. He further stressed the need to reinforce embankments of canals and tanks to prevent breaches and directed district collectors to remain vigilant and provide real-time updates to farmers.

US makes major visa announcement for Gazans; Laura Loomer claimed Palestinian refugees flooding airports
US announces halting all visitors' visa from Gaza. The State Department made a major announcement of halting all visitor visas for people from Gaza for the time being, as it conducts a full and thorough review of the "process and procedures" used to issue medial-humanitarian visas in recent days. 'All visitor visas for individuals from Gaza are being stopped while we conduct a full and thorough review of the process and procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas in recent days,' the department wrote in a statement posted to X. The announcement came after MAGA activist Laura Loomer ranted for a day how Palestinians have been entering the country via a humanitarian organization through various airports. Loomer questioned how so many Palestinians were getting visa from the State Department. Loomer said she obtained video footage of Palestinians who claim to be refugees from Gaza coming into the US via San Francisco and Houston. "The Palestinians traveled from Gaza to the US with the help of a group called 'Heal Palestine'. How did Palestinians get visas under the Trump administration to get into the United States? Did @StateDept approve this? How did they get out of Gaza? Is @SecRubio aware of this?" Loomer ranted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? 'Deeply concerned about the incoming flights - including to Texas - allegedly filled with folks from Gaza as reported by @LauraLoomer. Inquiring,' Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) wrote on Friday. "No evacuation of any kind will take place until we have drawn the necessary conclusions from this investigation," Barrot said in the interview.

Guardian Minister announces Rs10cr grant for PM Shri School in Chanda
1 2 3 4 Chandrapur: Guardian minister and state tribal development minister Dr Ashok Uike has announced a grant of Rs10 crore for the PM Shri Savitribai Phule primary and high school run by the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC). He emphasised that the school has emerged as a centre of academic excellence, drawing increasing enrolments every year, and now required urgent expansion to cater to students' needs. His announcement came while addressing a Tiranga Rally organised under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on Independence Day. Chandrapur municipal commissioner Vipin Paliwal pointed out the remarkable growth of the institution. "In 2012, the school had only 70 students, while today the strength has risen to 1,100. This growth has been accompanied not just by numbers but also by a strong focus on academic quality," he said. Dr Uike assured that the Rs10 crore grant would be provided through the District Mineral Fund (DMF). The funds will be directed towards constructing new classrooms, providing furniture, setting up modern laboratories, promoting digitalisation, and developing sports infrastructure. He further directed the civic body to prepare an action plan by the end of this month, with the proposal to be approved and funds released in the following month. Local MLA Kishor Jorgewar praised the civic body for running a school of such quality. He stressed that with over 1,100 students enrolled, the school required at least 36 classrooms but currently has only 20 functional ones. He sought adequate funding not just for this school but also for the holistic development of other municipal schools on similar lines. Flood situation in Krishna River basin eases as water levels recede
1 2 V ijayawada: The flood situation in the Krishna River basin is beginning to ease, with water levels gradually receding following a decrease in rainfall across upstream regions. At the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada, inflows dropped to 2.45 lakh cusecs on Saturday, prompting authorities to withdraw the first danger warning that had been in place for the past two days. Despite the relief, officials said reservoirs such as Nagarjunasagar, Pulichintala and Srisailam are still discharging nearly 1.7 lakh cusecs into the river system. While the current flows are under control, authorities are maintaining caution as weather conditions in the catchment areas remain unpredictable. Authorities estimated that the flood level at Prakasam Barrage is likely to come down further to 1.5 lakh cusecs by Sunday night. Adding to the concern, the Budameru stream, which runs through parts of Vijayawada and Krishna district, has swollen due to heavy local rains. The rapid flow has raised fears of possible inundation in several low-lying villages, particularly across the Gudivada region. Farmers and residents in vulnerable areas were advised to remain vigilant and prepared for emergency alerts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo NTR district officials said that continuous monitoring is being carried out along the Budameru bunds.
