Friday, June 13 forecast: Summertime Saturday, rain for some Father's Day
Friday the 13th, lucky or unlucky, it's coming to a close, and so is the showery pattern. Scattered showers in the area over the past two days have filled rain gauges, but not to the excessive levels of past storms. The storm system is on the way out with nicer weather in time for the weekend.
Showers will end this evening with clearing skies paving the way for some fog by morning. Fog and low cloudiness will thin out quickly Saturday morning with a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon.
It looks like most areas will remain dry thanks to some drier air filtering in behind today's shower maker. Warm and humid afternoon conditions, along with light winds, will make for a nice early summer day.
Saturday's quiet will continue through Father's Day for most areas east of Hwy. 65. Areas to the west may have to contend with a risk of showers and thunderstorms. Rain or not, expect warm and humid conditions throughout the day.
If you're boating or floating this weekend, weather conditions look pretty good. Things to consider, though: debris in the lakes and rivers from recent flooding and faster currents on rivers with water levels still running a little high.
If you're taking Dad golfing or fishing, or you're just hanging out on the porch, the weather shouldn't be too bad.
As we move into next week, summer really starts to settle in. We start the week with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Tuesday looks warm and breezy with a risk for additional showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday as a front grazes the area. It will be warm and humid through the front end of the week, with the heat building during the back end.
The first summer ridge of the season will take shape by the end of next week and continue to influence our weather into the following week. This will likely lead to our first 90° day of the summer.

Scattered PM Storms for Father's Day Weekend, Summer Begins Friday!
FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND:We're starting out in the low 70s this morning, and with dewpoints in the low 70s, there are some areas of fog or reduced visibility. We'll see mostly cloudy skies for today with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. We aren't expecting anything severe, but they could definitely pack a punch. Highs today will be in the upper 80s. Sunday, we'll see a little more sun with highs near 90, and again those afternoon and evening pop up showers and storms. NEXT WEEK:We start out with scattered showers and storms, but more isolated to stray storms by the weekend. Monday we'll see mostly cloudy conditions with scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms and highs near 90°. Tuesday through Thursday, the chance for showers and storms decreases as we only see isolated storms and highs in the low 90s. Humidity levels will remain quite highs, so heat index levels could easily approach 100°. By the weekend, the rain chances continue to decrease, although with the humidity levels still fairly high, there will be continued chances for stray afternoon an evening showers and storms. Rain chances slip heading into the weekend in Central Florida
Our chances of rain are starting to slip as we enter the weekend. Dry air moving in from the Caribbean will reduce rain chances and lead to warmer temperatures for the next week. Saturday's best chance of rain is in the middle of the afternoon. Areas west of Orlando will have the best chance of rain during the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected, but can't be ruled out. If you see a stronger storm, the main impact will be 40 mph wind gusts. Father's Day is looking hot. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-90s. Rain chances will be higher near the coast.
