Scattered PM Storms for Father's Day Weekend, Summer Begins Friday!
FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND:We're starting out in the low 70s this morning, and with dewpoints in the low 70s, there are some areas of fog or reduced visibility. We'll see mostly cloudy skies for today with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. We aren't expecting anything severe, but they could definitely pack a punch. Highs today will be in the upper 80s. Sunday, we'll see a little more sun with highs near 90, and again those afternoon and evening pop up showers and storms.
NEXT WEEK:We start out with scattered showers and storms, but more isolated to stray storms by the weekend. Monday we'll see mostly cloudy conditions with scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms and highs near 90°. Tuesday through Thursday, the chance for showers and storms decreases as we only see isolated storms and highs in the low 90s. Humidity levels will remain quite highs, so heat index levels could easily approach 100°. By the weekend, the rain chances continue to decrease, although with the humidity levels still fairly high, there will be continued chances for stray afternoon an evening showers and storms. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.

Some storms possible on Father's Day in North Texas
Rainstorms are possible for parts of North Texas this Father's Day. For the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the chance for storms will likely be around lunchtime, which will unfortunately impact any grilling plans and outdoor activities. By the later part of the day, conditions should clear. CBS News Texas Temperatures will also be a bit steamy, highs will be in the lower 90s, with the heat index cranking up "feels-like" temperatures to the triple digits. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has highlighted North Texas under a marginal threat for an isolated risk of severe winds exceeding 60 mph. Though the severe threat is limited, lightning will still be a danger with the storms that do pass through. CBS News Texas A drier forecast is expected moving into the work week. However, since there is still a northwesterly flow aloft, it is possible that another complex of storms will move through during Monday morning's early commute. This is just a potential, if the atmospheric conditions shape up in our favor, then there is also a chance that most of North Texas sees a dry start on Monday. Regardless, it will be wise to head out the door with an umbrella, just in case. CBS News Texas Conditions should stay dry and moderately sunny through the week. There is a weak front that could bring more storms and a few showers Wednesday night into Thursday morning. CBS News Texas The heat is on this next week – temperatures will be slightly above the normal with highs in the middle 90s. However, the moisture in the air will cause the heat index value to be in the 100s. It is definitely feeling like summer, which by the way, officially starts on Friday.

Expect lots of sun for this Father's Day weekend in South Florida
The NEXT Weather Team is tracking a warm and mostly dry Father's Day across South Florida. We'll see high temperatures from Fort Lauderdale to Key West in the upper 80s with lots of sun. When we add in the humidity, the "feels like" temperatures jump to the triple digits in Margate, Tamarac and Miramar. Across Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties it will feel like the upper 90s. There will be a few pop-up showers early Sunday morning but those quickly dissipate and are replaced by mostly sunny skies. The sun and temperatures make for the perfect beach day, but be prepared for a moderate risk of rip currents. Winds out of the Southeast at 10 mph and the surf of 1-2 feet. The UV Index is extreme, so you'll need to reapply sunscreen throughout the day. A similar pattern is setting-up for the next few days. The start of the work week will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the low 90s and little to no chance of rain across most of South Florida as we head towards the official start of Summer on Friday.

Dreary and Cool for Father's Day in Maryland
Temperatures will feel more like Fall on Father's Day. We're now on the north side of a front, bringing cooler air vs neighborhoods to the south in places like Virginia. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 60s and low 70s this afternoon. That's a far cry from what's typically expected in mid-June: mid 80s. Sunday will be a dreary close to the weekend with very little in the way of sunshine expected. This morning we started with reduced visibility thanks to mist, drizzle and fog. Shower chances increases this afternoon across the area. A few heavier showers are possible going into the evening and overnight. Monday starts with some wet weather, as well. Cool air remains in place to start the work week - temperatures are expected to peak in the 60s and 70s once again. As the previously mentioned front starts to track northward and we eventually end up south of it, we'll start to feel more like summer and less like September/October. Midweek highs are expected to be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Other than a few showers, there isn't all that much to watch in the next couple of days. Our attention turns to Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center already has a risk for severe thunderstorms across most of Maryland tagged for Thursday. The First Alert Weather team will continue to monitor that part of the forecast for any Juneteenth activities planned in our area.
