CM Stalin urges public support for ‘no school dropout' milestone
In a social media post, the Chief Minister described this achievement as a significant milestone in the state's educational journey and urged the public to join hands with the government to sustain this success.
CM Stalin called on the public to proactively identify any children who may have dropped out of school in their localities. 'Educate them and make them understand that there is no greater wealth than education,' he said.
Emphasising the importance of collective responsibility, he encouraged people to spread awareness about the state's inclusive educational schemes designed to bring every child back to school.
The Chief Minister highlighted several key initiatives by the state government aimed at enhancing access to quality education. These include the Breakfast Scheme for school students, the introduction of Smart Classrooms, the Naan Mudhalvan skill development programme, and financial assistance schemes like Pudhumai Penn for girl students and Thamizh Pudhalvan for boys.
'These programmes ensure that no child is left behind and every student is supported to complete their education,' CM Stalin noted.
In a separate post, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to women's welfare, particularly those serving in the police force.
He recalled his earlier promise that women police personnel returning from maternity leave would be granted transfers to their preferred locations to help balance family and work responsibilities.
As of June 3, a total of 209 women police officers have been transferred to locations of their choice, the CM said.
'The Dravidian Model government will continue to safeguard the interests and well-being of women who want to make a mark in life and succeed in their chosen fields,' he reiterated.
With education and women's empowerment as central pillars of his Dravidian governance model, the Chief Minister has underlined the government's efforts to lead the way in inclusive growth and social equity.

'Undermines democracy': Stalin criticises Centre over 130th Constitution Amendment bill
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central government over the introduction of the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, warning that the legislation, if passed, would undermine democracy and empower the Centre to arbitrarily unseat opposition Chief Ministers. In a post on X, Stalin accused the BJP government of attempting to 'defile' the Constitution and described the proposed amendment as a 'Black Day' in Indian democracy. 'The 130th Constitutional Amendment is not reform. This is a Black Day and this is a Black Bill. Thirty-day arrest equals removal of an elected CM. No trial, no conviction – just BJP's diktat. This is how dictatorships begin: Steal votes, silence rivals and crush states,' he wrote. The Chief Minister alleged that the move was a diversionary tactic by the BJP, which is facing allegations of 'vote theft.' He claimed that after being accused of forming the government through fraudulent means, the party is desperate to divert public attention. 'Having stolen the mandate of the people through fraud, the BJP is now desperate to distract public attention from this expose. To do that, they have brought in the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill,' Stalin said. Expressing confidence that the judiciary would intervene, Stalin said the bill would not withstand judicial scrutiny. 'This unconstitutional amendment will certainly be struck down by the courts because guilt is decided only after trial, not by mere registration of a case,' he asserted. He further charged that the proposed amendment is aimed at intimidating regional allies within the NDA. 'This is a sinister attempt to intimidate regional parties in the NDA, whose leaders are CMs or Ministers in various States – 'stick with us or else.' The first move of any emerging dictator is to give himself the power to arrest and remove rivals from office. That is exactly what this Bill seeks to do,' Stalin added. The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, along with the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, was introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and referred to a Joint Committee of Parliament. The amendment proposes that the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers detained for 30 consecutive days on charges of corruption or serious offences could be removed from office.

Centre has decided to defile the Constitution by turning India into a dictatorship under PM, alleges Stalin
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday strongly objected to The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, introduced by Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, which seeks to provide a legal framework for the removal of the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Ministers of States and Union Territories who are arrested and detained in custody for 30 consecutive days on serious criminal charges. He said the BJP government at the Centre has decided to defile the Constitution and its democratic foundations by turning India into a dictatorship under the Prime Minister. 'The 130th Constitutional Amendment is not reform. This is a black day and this is a black Bill. This is how dictatorships begin: steal votes, silence rivals and crush States. I strongly condemn this Bill, which strikes at the very root of democracy, and I call upon all the democratic forces to unite against this attempt to turn India into a dictatorship,' Mr. Stalin said in a post on X. 'After the exposé of vote theft, the very mandate on which the Union BJP government was formed is in serious question. Its legitimacy is doubtful. Having stolen the mandate of the people through fraud, the BJP is now desperate to distract public attention from this exposé. To do that, they have brought in the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill,' Mr. Stalin alleged. 'The plan of this Bill is clear. It allows the BJP to foist false cases against political opponents in power across States and remove them by misusing provisions that treat even a 30-day arrest as a ground for removal of an elected leader, without any conviction or trial. This unconstitutional amendment will certainly be struck down by the courts because guilt is decided only after trial, not by the mere registration of a case,' the Chief Minister said. 'This is a sinister attempt to intimidate regional parties in the NDA, whose leaders are CMs or Ministers in various States — 'stick with us or else…' The first move of any emerging dictator is to give himself the power to arrest and remove rivals from office. That is exactly what this Bill seeks to do,' Mr. Stalin added.

T.N. CM Stalin condemns action by Assam Police against journalists Siddharth Varadarajan, Karan Thapar of The Wire
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) condemned the action of the Assam Police in issuing summons to senior journalists Siddharth Varadarajan and Karan Thapar of The Wire. In a post on X, Mr. Stalin said the summons have been issued despite the Supreme Court granting protection in a related matter only days earlier. No copy of the FIR and no particulars of the case have been furnished, leaving only the threat of arrest, he said. Sedition redux: On trampling on press freedom Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is being misused as a substitute for the repealed sedition law to suppress independent journalism. A democracy cannot survive if asking questions is treated as sedition, he added.
