Qatar win silver, bronze medals at 24th Asian Junior Bowling Championship

The Qatari bowling team won two new medals (a silver and a bronze) at the 24th Asian Junior Bowling Championship, which Qatar is hosting until August 2.
Abdulrahman Al Dosari, a player on the Qatari bowling team, won the silver medal in the overall standings after accumulating 3,960 points in various competitions.
He placed second behind Kuwait's Nasser Al Kandari, who topped the standings with 4,037 points and won the gold medal. Malaysian player Muhammad Aqeel came in third with 3,921 points and won the bronze medal.
The Qatari B team, consisting of Hassan Al Muraikhi, Hamad Al Abdullah, Abdullah Al Dosari, and Abdulrahman Al Dosari, won the bronze medal in the 4-player team competition, finishing third with 5,052 points.
Qatar raised its medal tally in the tournament to four, having previously won gold and silver in the doubles competition.
The Malaysian team topped the four-person team competition, finishing first with 5,198 points and winning the gold medal, while the Kuwaiti team came second with 5,196 points and won the silver medal.
In the girls' category, the Malaysian team won the gold medal after topping the competition with 4,775 points. Chinese Taipei came second with 4,563 points and won the silver medal, while the Malaysian B team finished third with 4,456 points and won the bronze medal.
The award ceremony took place in the main hall of the Qatar National Bowling Center, which is hosting the tournament.
The Asian Championship continues on Friday, with the first round of the Masters competitions for both boys and girls.
The competition concludes on Saturday, with the championship prizes being distributed to the winners at the conclusion of the tournament.
For his part, President of the Qatar Bowling Federation Abdullah Sultan Al Qattan, expressed his complete satisfaction with the results achieved by the Qatari team during its participation in the ongoing Asian Championship.
Al Qattan said they were very pleased to have won a silver and a bronze medal, adding to Qatar's medal tally during the tournament. He conveyed his congratulations to the national team on the achievement.

The cooperation between Doha Bank and Qatar Equestrian Federation is part of an ongoing partnership between the two parties in supporting and sponsoring activities and championships in this field. The summer camp marks yet another episode of Doha Bank's ongoing CSR activities. The Bank is keen to support programmes and events in a comprehensive manner that covers different age groups, as part of the bank's policy of contributing to enriching its social engagement and widening its presence, by supporting sports and cultural activities that would promote Qatari cultural values. It is the opening fixture for both teams in Group A of the 31st FIBA Asia Cup 2025, hosted by Saudi Arabia for the second time, following its successful organization of the 1997 edition in Riyadh. The tournament draw placed Qatar in the formidable Group A alongside Australia, South Korea, and Lebanon, widely regarded as one of the toughest groups due to the high caliber of the competing teams. Qatar's campaign will continue with a match against South Korea on August 8, followed by a challenging encounter with Australia on August 10 to conclude the group stage. The tournament features four groups: Group B includes Japan, Iran, Syria, and Guam; Group C comprises China, Jordan, India, and Saudi Arabia; and Group D consists of the Philippines, New Zealand, Iraq, and Chinese Taipei. Under the competition format, group leaders advance directly to the quarterfinals, while second- and third-placed teams compete in crossover knockout matches to determine the remaining qualifiers. In a post on its official X account, the Ministry stated: 'We take pride in the achievement of Sheikha Asma Al Thani and her raising of the nation's flag on the summit of Gasherbrum I. What she has accomplished embodies the spirit of determination and perseverance, serving as an inspiration for Qatari youth to strive toward achieving their goals and overcoming challenges.' Sheikha Asma announced her successful ascent on Instagram last Monday, marking another milestone in her mountaineering journey. 'Gasherbrum I, my 10th 8000er. Another summit, another moment I'll never forget,' she wrote. She continued in the post: 'Standing here with the Qatar flag in my hand, I'm reminded why I started this journey. To test my limits. To represent something bigger than myself. And to show that dreams can take us far, if we're willing to go beyond boundaries.' Gasherbrum I, standing at 8,080 metres (26,510 feet) above sea level, is located in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas, straddling the border between Pakistan's Gilgit–Baltistan region and China's Xinjiang province. The mountain is part of the Gasherbrum Massif, a notoriously challenging area for climbers due to its extreme altitude and rugged conditions.
