Criminal Minds Video: Aisha Tyler Previews a ‘Hot Season for UnSubs,' Talks Directing Her Own Love Scene
The Season 18 premiere (now streaming on Paramount+) picks up six months after Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) took that beating in prison, and now, even in his (seemingly?) compromised state, the BAU will need to try and work with him, again, to shut down the network of serial killers left in Sicarius' wake.

Tyler stepped behind the camera again to direct this season's second episode (dropping May 15), and it features Daredevil vet Elden Henson exhibiting some extremely un-Foggy Nelson behavior.
'He was amazing,' Tyler effuses in the video Q&A above. 'He has such a lovable face, and he was able to deliver this very nuanced performance of a guy who has a private life and presents in a very different way publicly.'
Henson's UnSub is not the most twisted one this season, though, Tyler goes on to warn.
On the personal front, Season 18 is a 'deeply personal' one for Dr. Tara Lewis, Tyler says at the 3:15 mark, 'which is really nice. It was great as an actor to do some stiff I haven't been able to do on the show before. We get to dive into my backstory a bit, which has been really beautiful.'
Tara's love life is also further explored. In fact, Tyler for Episode 2 had to direct the very rare Criminal Minds love scene, between her own character and Nicole Pacent's Rebecca.
'Sweating balls' is how Tyler sums up that challenge. 'It's never comfortable…. I couldn't wait for it to be over!'
Tyler goes on to tease the 'obstacles' facing Tara and Rebecca this season; talks about Tara sporting a sweatshirt from her and her alter ego's Dartmouth alma mater; and shares her wish to direct a full-on horror film, after handling similar fare in Criminal Minds, Evil and Walking Dead episodes.
What's in the box, in that first Season 18 photo released a while back? I threw that Q at Tyler at the 8:45 mark. She then talks about her margarita-flavored side hustle, and we wrap things up with a status report on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the long-running improv series that exhausted its last episodes back in November.

Sylvester Stallone gives inside look at his ‘inviting' Florida home after ditching LA
Sylvester Stallone is giving fans an inside look at his Florida home. In a recent interview for the September/October cover of Veranda, Stallone and wife Jennifer Flavin spoke about how they knew they had found the right house when they purchased their Palm Beach estate. 'We looked at some of the houses built after COVID, and they were monstrosities,' Stallone told the outlet. 'Monumental structures, but none of them embraced you or made you feel warm. You felt as though you were in a hotel lobby.' After house-hunting for some time, the couple looked at a home in Palm Beach with high ceilings and oversized windows, which was built in 2014. Flavin said what won her over was it was 'a livable size.' Stallone echoed his wife's statement, explaining the house 'doesn't have eight living rooms for no reason.' From the moment they first saw the home, 'it automatically felt inviting,' an important factor for both of them. 'I've always made every house we've ever had a home,' Flavin said. 'I don't care if someone spills something. I can replace the rug or get it cleaned. We have three dogs and a cat and lots of children. Nothing we own is precious. Our family is precious, but the material things are not precious.' According to the home's designer, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, it is the only house in Palm Beach to have its own private beach. 3 Sylvester Stallone is now allowing fans to take a tour inside his Palm Beach, Florida home. 'The screening room definitely has a theme,' Stallone explained. 'It's about where I came from.' Elsewhere in the house, there's a gym, a luxury primary suite, a keyhole swimming pool outside situated in the center of a manicured lawn, a bar and walls filled with Stallone's vast art collection. 3 The Palm Beach estate was built in 2014. Douglas Friedman One room boasts portraits of Stallone from 'Rocky III' created by renowned artist Andy Warhol, while other rooms feature artwork by artist LeRoy Neiman, who traded paintings for a role as the ring announcer in the 'Rocky' movies. 'I consider it like a wardrobe,' Stallone said of his art collection. 'You can only wear the same shirt so many times before you go, 'God, I'd like to see if this other color works [with it].' 'With art, you can take a piece that you've become … maybe not blasé about, but you're not exactly overwhelmed by it anymore. You move that piece to another room, now you're invigorated. It's like furniture: messing around, moving it around, constantly restimulating our minds.' Stallone and Flavin announced their plans to leave Los Angeles and move to Florida during the season 2 premiere of their reality show, 'The Family Stallone,' in February 2024. 'After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently,' he told his daughters Scarlet, Sistine and Sophia. 3 Stallone's wife, Jennifer Flavin, said the 'livable size' is what won her over, as prior to the couple purchasing the property, they resided in Los Angeles, California. Douglas Friedman 'And, we're going to Florida.' Flavin added that their home is now 'an empty nest' and that she needed a change. In a confessional, Stallone admitted 'it's not an easy transition to Florida,' but it was something his wife 'really had her heart set on it,' and he eventually 'gave in.' Prior to starring in their own reality show, Flavin and Stallone were on the brink of divorce. Flavin filed for divorce from the 'Rambo' star in August 2022 after 25 years of marriage. However, the two reconciled and were spotted out together shortly after.

Leguizamo's Esposito seeks redemption by catching an arsonist in 'Smoke'

Photo courtesy of Apple TV+ NEW YORK, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and Ice Age Icon John Leguizamo says the disgraced detective he plays in Smoke is seeking redemption by trying to bring down the former partner who cost him his career. Created by best-selling novelist Dennis Lehane, the show follows a law-enforcement task force, including Leguizamo's Esposito, who are determined to catch Dave (Taron Egerton), an arson investigator and prolific fire-setter. "He got too close to the truth. He knew who the arsonist was and that's when they destroyed his career, made him the fall guy, and he hit rock bottom," Leguizamo, 65, told UPI about his character in a recent Zoom interview. "He drinks a lot and takes a lot of pills and he becomes a porn director," the actor said. "But then he gets a chance to get back on the [police] force because he knows the truth. But he has to keep constantly proving himself and I think that's the exciting part of being in that character. I have to fluctuate. I have to fight with all these different forces against me and no one will believe me." "She tries to help me get back the reins," Leguizamo laughed. "Poor woman. She's exhausted because of me." To prepare for the role, Chlumsky looked at what a woman in her position would have had to accomplish to get to where she is in a predominantly male field. "There's this sense of having to prove yourself over and over, even if you've gotten to the point where you're leading a task force," she said. "That never goes away. It's part of your conditioning. It's part of your workplace code switch and that's really where I was jumping in from. I was jumping in from how trusted she felt at work, how much she trusts herself and, ultimately, not wanting to let any of those insecurities get into her ability to do the job well." Leguizamo pointed out that this is a theme for many of the characters in Smoke. "Jurnee [Smollett] has to try to prove herself," he said, to which Chlumsky replied, "Also, to whom are you proving something, right?" Leguizamo said he was happy to provide the comic relief in a show that digs into some really serious topics, including crime, corruption, mental illness, suicide and violence against women. "What I love about this series is that it has teeth," Leguizamo said. "It's not easy. It's not just light-hearted," he added. "I love that it's really dark, complex characters, people with a lot of demons and, then, we get a chance, Anna and I, to bring a little humor and a little repartee that lightens it up a little bit, but they are still messed-up characters. We're still broken human beings and I love playing those kind of characters that are really vulnerable and, yet, they fight for the truth." Chlumsky emphasized that the show is first and foremost intended to be entertaining. "Even when he's going to the darkest questions and exploring the shame of his characters or the parts of this characters that they don't even want to look at, you can tell that [Lehane] is remaining playful," Chlumsky said. "He's having a great time and that's, I think, what energizes the whole thing." The series wrapped up on Apple TV+ Friday. Greg Kinnear and Rafe Spall co-star.

This British thriller is one of the underrated Netflix shows to watch in August 2025

Q is Netflix's answer to Slow Horses. That is a compliment. Slow Horses is one of Apple TV+'s five best shows. Dept. Q is not in Netflix's top five. However, Scott Frank, best known for The Queen's Gambit, has crafted another riveting show with another star-making performance at the center. Matthew Goode stars as Carl Morck, a detective recovering from an accident that resulted in the paralysis of his colleague. Upon his return to work, Morck is tasked with spearheading the cold case division, with an office located in the basement. Morck eventually forms a ragtag group of investigators to work on unsolved cases. Dept. Q is a rock-solid show backed by its steady showrunner and engaging cast. Stream Dept. Q on Netflix. Black Doves (2024) The Brits love their spy thrillers, and they do them well. Black Doves is a six-episode espionage tale starring Keira Knightley as Helen Webb, a professional spy who happens to be the wife of the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Defence (Andrew Buchan). Helen works as a 'Black Dove,' a spy who relays information to a mercenary organization. Being a spy is not Helen's only secret. She has another lover: Jason (Andrew Koji). However, Helen's world comes crashing down after Jason's murder. Helen's handler, Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls in an old agent, Sam (Ben Whishaw), to keep an eye on Helen. You know where it's going. Helen barks up the wrong tree and uncovers a deep conspiracy in this action-packed series. Stream Black Doves on Netflix. Ransom Canyon (2025) Ransom Canyon is not Yellowstone. Are there cowboys, complicated families, and drama? Yes. However, Ransom Canyon is more romance than violence. That's not a bad thing, considering Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly are perfect for this type of show. The widowed Staten Kirkland (Duhamel) owns the Double K Ranch and finds himself in a struggle to save his land. Quinn O'Grady (Kelly) returns to town after a stint in New York, starting a will-they-won't-they romance with Staten. Ransom Canyon is a Western soap opera at its core, making for an easy, satisfying binge-watch. Stream Ransom Canyon on Netflix.
