Criminal Minds Video: Aisha Tyler Previews a ‘Hot Season for UnSubs,' Talks Directing Her Own Love Scene
The new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution is going to be 'a really hot one' for deviant UnSubs, Aisha Tyler promised during her visit to TVLine's NYC video studio this week.
The Season 18 premiere (now streaming on Paramount+) picks up six months after Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) took that beating in prison, and now, even in his (seemingly?) compromised state, the BAU will need to try and work with him, again, to shut down the network of serial killers left in Sicarius' wake.

Tyler stepped behind the camera again to direct this season's second episode (dropping May 15), and it features Daredevil vet Elden Henson exhibiting some extremely un-Foggy Nelson behavior.
'He was amazing,' Tyler effuses in the video Q&A above. 'He has such a lovable face, and he was able to deliver this very nuanced performance of a guy who has a private life and presents in a very different way publicly.'
Henson's UnSub is not the most twisted one this season, though, Tyler goes on to warn.
On the personal front, Season 18 is a 'deeply personal' one for Dr. Tara Lewis, Tyler says at the 3:15 mark, 'which is really nice. It was great as an actor to do some stiff I haven't been able to do on the show before. We get to dive into my backstory a bit, which has been really beautiful.'
Tara's love life is also further explored. In fact, Tyler for Episode 2 had to direct the very rare Criminal Minds love scene, between her own character and Nicole Pacent's Rebecca.
'Sweating balls' is how Tyler sums up that challenge. 'It's never comfortable…. I couldn't wait for it to be over!'
Tyler goes on to tease the 'obstacles' facing Tara and Rebecca this season; talks about Tara sporting a sweatshirt from her and her alter ego's Dartmouth alma mater; and shares her wish to direct a full-on horror film, after handling similar fare in Criminal Minds, Evil and Walking Dead episodes.

'Your Friends & Neighbors' Was Already Renewed for Season 2—and James Marsden Is Joining
Apple TV+'s newest show, Your Friends & Neighbors, puts Jon Hamm back on the small screen in his first leading TV role since the Emmy-winning series Mad Men, where he portrayed the successful advertising exec Don Draper. Now, Hamm plays Andrew 'Coop' Cooper, a flailing hedge-fund manager who begins stealing from his affluent neighbors after he loses his job (and his wife, played by Amanda Peet). Back in November, before season 1 even premiered, it was announced that Your Friends & Neighbors had already been renewed for another season. 'It's a wonderful honor,' Hamm told Forbes when asked about the unprecedented move. 'It is a tremendous vote of confidence, obviously, and honestly, they've never done it before, so we were the first one. It's a tremendous feather in our cap. It means we're doing something right.' The show's creator and executive producer, Jonathan Tropper, feels the same way. 'The support from everyone at Apple has been phenomenal,' he told The Hollywood Reporter, 'and the fact that they've ordered a second season before we aired our first is an incredible validation and a tribute to the work of this stellar cast, crew, writers, directors and producers who worked so hard to make this show what it is.' Jon Hamm is set to return for the second season, along with series regulars Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt, and Donovan Colan. And according to Deadline, season 2's cast will expand to include James Marsden, Arienne Mandi, Erin Robinson, and Bre Blair in recurring roles. Hamm, who also serves as an executive producer, played a huge role in casting some of the show's bigger names. 'He's got a pretty good list of contacts in his phone, and any time we needed to get to someone, usually Jon knew them pretty well,' said Tropper. 'I wanted to cast Amanda Peet. Jeremy Renner Details Experiencing Death During Snow Plow Accident "I Didn't Want to Come Back" — GeekTyrant
Marvel actor Jeremy Renner went through a death-defying accident and recovery two years ago that he is just now fully detailing in his recently-published memoir, 'My Next Breath.' In the book, he says he briefly experienced what he believes was death during the 2023 New Year's Day snow plow accident that nearly cost him his life. In a recent follow-up interview on Kelly Ripa's 'Let's Talk Off Camera' podcast, the Oscar nominee described this moment as 'a great relief.' 'It's a wonderful, wonderful relief to be removed from your body,' Renner said. 'It is the most exhilarating peace you could ever feel. You don't see anything but what's in your mind's eye. Like, you're the atoms of who you are, the DNA, your spirit. It's the highest adrenaline rush, but the peace that comes with it… it's magnificent. It's so magical.' 'I didn't want to come back,' Renner continued. 'I remember I was brought back and I was so pissed off. I came back, I'm like, 'Aww!' I came back and saw [my] eyeball and I'm like, 'Oh shit, I'm back.' Saw my legs. I'm like, 'Yeah, that's gonna hurt later.' I'm like, 'All right, let me continue to breathe.'' Renner wrote in his book that he briefly died about 30 minutes after his Sno-Cat, a large snow plow that weighs at least 14,330 pounds, ran him over as he was saving his nephew from injury. Renner ultimately regained consciousness and was hospitalized for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. His injuries included eight ribs broken in 14 places, a broken right knee and ankle, a broken left leg tibia and ankle, a broken right clavicle and shoulder and more. 'I could see my lifetime,' he writes in the book. 'I could see everything all at once. In death, there was no time, no time at all, yet it was also all time and forever.' Speaking to Ripa, Renner added that feeling like 'a man that didn't want to come back' has made him now 'really be able to be back here and live it on my terms as the captain of my own ship. And get on it or off it, I don't give a fuck. I'm going to live life on my own terms and for nobody else. [It's] very clear. The white noise is ripped away.' After spending nearly a year in recovery, Renner has since gone on to return to acting via his Paramount+ original drama series Mayor of Kingstown .
