Washington DC [US], August 7 (ANI): US President Donald Trump called popular late-night host Stephen Colbert 'talentless' after CBS announced it would cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert following a 10-year run. Speaking at a press conference at the White House, President Trump criticised Colbert and predicted that other late-night hosts such as Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel would also lose their shows soon. "Colbert has no talent. I mean, I could take anybody here. I could go outside in the beautiful streets and pick a couple of people that do just as well or better. They get higher ratings than he did. He's got no talent. Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They're next. They're going to be going. I hear they're going. Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon," Trump said while addressing the media on Wednesday (Local Time). This is not the first time Trump has attacked Colbert's abilities. Following the cancellation announcement, Trump expressed his happiness in a post on his Truth Social platform and also took aim at Jimmy Kimmel. "I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show," Trump posted on July 18. CBS, however, said the cancellation was not related to the show's performance. In a statement, the network said, the cancellation of 'The Late Show' was purely a "financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night" and is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount, in reference to the possible acquisition of its parent company, Paramount Global, by Skydance. The decision has surprised many, including fellow late-night host Andy Cohen. Speaking to Deadline at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, Cohen called the cancellation "a sad day for late-night television". "I think it's a sad day for late-night television. I think it's a sad day for CBS. I think Stephen Colbert is a singular talent. He's going to have an incredible next chapter," Cohen said. "I can't believe CBS is turning off the lights at 11:30 after the local news. I'm stunned. He's one of three late-night shows deemed worthy enough for an Emmy nomination. He produces a brilliant show," he added. According to PEOPLE, Colbert made the announcement during the show's taping on July 17 at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York. He took over the programme in September 2015, following the retirement of David Letterman. The show is expected to end in May next year. (ANI)

Washington DC [US], August 7 (ANI): Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser, known for his performance in 'The Whale', will next be seen in the comedy-drama movie 'Rental Family'. The makers have finally released the trailer of the film to offer a glimpse into the life of an actor who rediscovers himself while working for a Japanese agency. The movie is co-written and directed by Hikari. Along with Fraser, the movie also stars Takehiro Hira, Mari Yamamoto, Shannon Gorman and Akira Emoto in prominent roles. According to the press note shared by the makers, the film follows an American actor (Brendan Fraser) who struggles to find purpose until he lands an unusual gig: working for a Japanese "rental family" agency, playing stand-in roles for strangers. As he immerses himself in his clients' worlds, he begins to form genuine bonds that blur the lines between performance and reality. Confronting the moral complexities of his work, he rediscovers purpose, belonging, and the quiet beauty of human connection, as per the press note of the film. In the film's one-minute and thirty-second teaser, Fraser is shown battling in contemporary Tokyo, where he is asked to sell "emotions" for twice the work and half the pay. As per the job, the actor is asked to play real-life roles for the agency's clients, which include posing as their best friend, sibling, boyfriend and others. Initially, Fraser struggles to adapt to this new "rental" phenomenon, as in one of the scenes the actor faces the brunt of a child when he poses as her father in real life. Searchlight Pictures (the official distributor of the movie) shared the trailer of the movie on their official Instagram handle. With a screenplay by HIKARI and Stephen Blahut, the film is produced by Sight Unseen Pictures' Julia Lebedev and Eddie Vaisman, as well as Knockonwood's Shin Yamaguchi. Brad Pitts mother Jane Etta Pitt passes away at 84
Washington DC [US], August 7 (ANI): Jane Etta Pitt, the mother of Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt, has passed away at the age of 84, reported People. The family of the 'Fight Club' actor paid tribute to her following her cause of the death has not yet been disclosed by Brad Pitt or his family. According to the outlet, Pitt and his two younger siblings, brother Doug and sister Julie, were raised in Springfield, Missouri, by Jane, a retired school counsellor, and father William, a former owner of a trucking 'F1' actor's niece, Sydney, the daughter of his younger brother Doug, remembered Jane as someone who had 'the biggest heart" and 'cared deeply for everyone and everything."Posting an emotional tribute to her Instagram handle, after the demise of her grandmother, Sydney wrote, 'My sweet Grammy. We were not ready for you to go yet, but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier."'She could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat. There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it. I don't know how we move forward without her. We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up, and I know she lives on through each of us," she added. According to People magazine, at a special screening of his latest film 'F1' in June, Pitt gave a shout-out to his mom while telling anchor Savannah Guthrie that she watched the Today show on a daily basis.'I gotta say hi to my mom because she watches you every morning.
