Jamie Seale has become the pride of the northern areas after representing the SA men's senior hockey team in the Nations Cup in Malaysia recently.
Seale, 20, who went to school at Triomf Primary in Salsoneville, has described the trip as a tremendous experience. ..

Likewise, a young boy in New Zealand shant dare speak of playing for the Boks. However, times have changed and we could very well see SA-born All Blacks (sooner than you think) and NZ-born Springboks in the near future. Prasa Rail to implement fare increase in August
After holding fares steady for the past 10 years, the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) has announced that fare adjustments will be implemented across the Metrorail network on August 1. This marks the first increase since 2015, and the group said the fare adjustment will contribute to the network's long-term sustainability. Prasa spokesperson Andiswa Makanda said single tickets will increase by R2.50, while return tickets will increase by between R5.50 and R6 depending on the zone or distance travelled. 'Even with this fare adjustment, Prasa Rail fares remain the most affordable across all modes of transport. We are committed to providing affordable, safe and efficient commuter services,' said Prasa Rail CEO Nwabisa Gqamane-Ntiyane. Makanda said the department of transport had approved the fare adjustment after comprehensive stakeholder consultations in 2023. The additional revenue will fund critical operational needs, including energy and maintenance costs, as well as enhanced safety and security measures at stations and on trains. Prasa Rail has also announced the reintroduction of weekly and monthly tickets, offering bigger discounts. 'Prasa Rail's off-peak discounts remain in place, offering even more affordable fares for those travelling between 9am and 2pm, with fares discounted by 50%-40% during this period. Commuters can find detailed information about the new fares, seasonal tickets, and station-specific details by visiting their nearest Metrorail station,' Makanda said. TimesLIVE

South Africa's comedy of errors led to defeat against New Zealand

The Proteas would go on to win that historic match, which is widely hailed as the best ODI ever, also known as 438 due to the score SA reached in response. I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of what Kallis said straight after South Africa saw Australia post a then-record of 434 in their 50 overs in that famous One-Day International ( ODI ) at the Wanderers in 2006. The famous quote of Jacques Kallis came to mind on Wednesday after South Africa allowed New Zealand to post 173/5 in their innings. South Africa's Experimental Batting Backfires in T20 Match Against New Zealand I don't even blame the bowlers, even though they had New Zealand 70/5 in the 10th over. In modern T20s, one expects the bowlers to take a beating, and that's exactly what happened. It's simply the nature of the game. The Proteas, though, went against their nature and were far too experimental with their batting lineup. After a solid opening stand of 34, Rubin Hermann and Senuran Muthusamy were both elevated up the order to number three and four, respectively. The pair looked at sea and combined for eight runs between them. Such was the gravity of the backfire that the experienced skipper Rassie van der Dussen was clearly feeling the pressure as he was run out for 6. Though Dewald Brevis (35) and George Linde (30) delivered decent knocks, the odds were always stacked against them after Van der Dussen's departure left South Africa 62/5 after 8.4 overs.
