KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry has revealed that the permit holder of the bus involved in the crash that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students, had breached multiple conditions — including leasing the permit to a third party. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the permit holder, who is based in Kedah, had rented out the permit to an individual in Kelantan for RM500 a month. He added that the permit holder had also failed to submit GPS data when requested, as the vehicle's tracking system was found to be inactive.

Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said this was to prevent interference with the police investigation. He said the 39-year-old driver is being treated at Taiping Hospital.
