During the third quarter of the Fever-Sun game, Jacy Sheldon and Caitlin Clark exchanged words after a hard foul. Marina Mabrey then stepped in and shoved Clark to the ground. Obviously, that didn't sit well with the fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Cunningham retaliated by bringing Sheldon to the ground with a hard foul during the final minute of regulation. After reviewing this play, the referees gave Cunningham a flagrant-2 foul and ejected her from the game.
Sun head coach Rachid Meziane couldn't wait to slam Cunningham for her hard foul on Sheldon. He called it a "stupid" and "disrespectful" move during his postgame press conference.
"When you are winning a game by 17 points and you doing this stupid foul, this is just disrespectful," Meziane told reporters. "I don't know how Jacy and Lindsay [got] rejected from the game when they did nothing."

"No place in the game for what Sophie Cunningham did. That warrants further review and penalty from the league," one person wrote on X.
"Sophie Cunningham is a nasty nasty lady and I will forever stand on this hill," a fan said. "She should get a 5 game suspension."
"Will folks call Sophie Cunningham a 'thug' who needs to be suspended, or…..," a social media user asked.
"Sophie Cunningham should be suspended," another fan declared.
Of course, Fever fans are all celebrating Cunningham this Wednesday for "standing on business."
Cunningham hasn't released any public comments on her ejection. She did, however, post a cryptic photo on her Instagram Story.

We'll get to see the Fever and Sun square off again on July 15.

LSU capitalizes on big break in 9th for a 6-5 walk-off win over Arkansas for CWS finals berth
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Jared Jones hit a line drive that glanced off a glove for the winning run moments after LSU got a big break to tie the game, and the Tigers posted a 6-5 walk-off victory over SEC rival Arkansas on Wednesday night to advance to the College World Series finals. The Tigers (51-15) will play for their second national championship in three years when they square off against Coastal Carolina in the best-of-three finals starting Saturday. Arkansas (50-15) took a two-run lead in the top of the ninth on Justin Thomas' tie-breaking single and looked ready to force a second bracket final against the Tigers on Thursday. Instead, the Razorbacks' season ended in heartbreak in Omaha again. The Tigers beat Arkansas for the fourth time in five meetings this season, including 4-1 last Saturday in the teams' CWS opener. They are 5-0 all-time in CWS meetings with the Razorbacks. LSU put two men on base with one out in the bottom of the ninth against Cole Gibler. Steven Milam grounded to short, and Wehiwa Aloy opted to get the lead runner at third rather than try for a game-ending double play. Luis Hernandez then came up and sent a hard liner to left. Charles Davalan slipped as he broke for the ball and it deflected off his right shoulder. Davalan chased the ball down as Ethan Frey and Milam scored easily. Jones, whose team-best 22nd homer of the season tied it 3-all in the eighth, shot a line drive up the middle that bounced off second baseman Cam Kozeal's glove, and Hernandez scored from second ahead of the throw home, setting off an LSU celebration in center field. ___ AP college sports:

Anthony Volpe's error, more listless at-bats push Yankees to 6th straight loss
Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered in the second inning to end New York's 30-inning scoreless streak, but an error in the eighth inning gave Los Angeles a tiebreaking run, and the Angels beat the Yankees 3-2 Wednesday night, handing New York its sixth straight loss. Mike Trout and Taylor Ward opened the eighth by drawing walks off Fernando Cruz (1-3), and Luis Rengifo walked on four pitches to load the bases. Jo Adell hit a 105.9-mph grounder to New York shortstop Anthony Volpe, who bobbled the ball and threw wide of second, allowing Trout to score. The Yankees lost for the eighth time in 18 games, and their losing streak is the longest since they lost nine straight from Aug. 12-23, 2023. Chisholm ended New York's longest run-scoring drought since a 33-inning skid Sept. 22-25, 2016, when his drive down the right field line stayed inside the foul pole and tied the game at 1. Cody Bellinger homered to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead in the fourth before the Angels' Jo Adell hit a tying homer on the first pitch of the fifth off Ryan Yarbrough. Bellinger made the final out of the eighth by fouling out with two on. Aaron Judge went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts as his average dipped to .366. Nolan Schanuel homered three pitches into the game for the Angels, who won a fifth straight game at Yankee Stadium -- the old or new version -- for the first time in team history. Jack Kochanowicz allowed two runs and two hits in 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander finished with a career-high eight strikeouts and walked three. Kenley Jansen struck out Volpe to secure his 15th save. KEY MOMENTS Giancarlo Stanton batted for Ben Rice in the seventh and flew out to left field against Hector Neris (3-1). In the sixth, Bellinger hit an infield single, but Trent Grisham was called out at second when his leg touched the ball. Paul Goldschmidt lined out on the next pitch. KEY STAT Stanton is 5 for 47 in his career as a pinch hitter. UP NEXT New York LHP Carlos Rodón (8-5, 3.01 ERA) opposes Los Angeles LHP Tyler Anderson (2-4, 3.44) on Thursday.

Donovan Solano's sliding stop
Tage Thompson Reflects On Teammates Lack Of Response After Noesen Hit One of the many low points of the Buffalo Sabres 2024-25 season was the lack of response to the hit on leading scorer Tage Thompson by New Jersey forward Stefan Noesen. Thompson was laid out by Noesen early in the third period of the Sabres 4-3 win over the Devils on February 2nd. Noesen was given a match penalty and game misconduct, but none of the players on the ice at the time of the hit or in the subsequent remaining 15 minutes responded to the hit, something that Thompson reflected on with reporter Andy Strickland. 2:20 Now Playing Paused Ad Playing
