'Rage Against the Regime' protests planned across NY: See map and locations
The 50501 movement has designated Saturday, Aug. 2 as another National Day of Action. It's the ninth such event created by the 50501 Movement as the grassroots organization also set the Feb. 17, March 4, April 5, April 19, May 1, June 14, July 4, and July 17 nationwide rallies into motion, which drew thousands to events all across New York.
Here's what to know about the latest protest.
'Rage Against the Regime' protest planned for Saturday: What are the protests about?
The 50501 Movement's "Rage Against the Regime" protests on Aug. 2 are taking aim at several actions by the Trump administration, such as the handling of the Jeffery Epstein files.
The protest urges non-violence, with 50501 protesting the following issues, all they claim have occurred at the hands of Trump:
The alleged weaponization of ICE against communities
The alleged construction of concentration camps (referring to Alligator Alcatraz)
The alleged cover up of the Jeffrey Epstein files
Purported attacks on transgender rights
The purported dismantling of Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), USAID, the Department of Education, NOAA and the National Weather Service
"On this day, we come together to transform anger into action, harnessing the energy of collective resistance," a section of the Rage Against the Regime's website states. "Our movement is rooted in non-violence, but it is far from passive. We stand strong, bold and unyielding, showing the world the irresistible force of communities united against injustice."
What is the 50501 Movement?
The 50501 Movement is a grassroots initiative by Americans against the Trump administration's policies. The name derives from the idea to host 50 events in 50 states on the same day, with the movement calling upon supporters to mobilize through rallies, protests and even nature cleanups and food drives.
The 50501 group states on their website their movement "shows the world that the American working class will not sit idly by as plutocrats rip apart their democratic institutions and civil liberties while undermining the rule of law."

More Republican lawmakers call out Canada over wildfire smoke
WASHINGTON — More Republican lawmakers are calling out Canada because of wildfires sending smoke billowing across the international border into their states. Wisconsin state Rep. Calvin Callahan has joined other Republican state lawmakers from Iowa, Minnesota and North Dakota in filing a formal complaint against Canada to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the International Joint Commission. In a news release issued today, Callahan says that 'if Canada can't get these wildfires under control, they need to face real consequences.' He joins a chorus of Republican politicians at other levels of government who have been voicing concerns about Canada's wildfires. Michigan Rep. Jack Bergman sent a letter to Canadian Sen. Michael MacDonald on Monday calling for stronger forest management policies and more accountability from Canadian officials. Michigan Rep. John James sent a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney last week saying his constituents are choking on toxic wildfire smoke. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 6, 2025. I'm a Republican who didn't vote for Trump. I was wrong.
I am a registered Republican. And like many others, I didn't vote for Donald Trump. His tone and rhetoric alarmed me. But in hindsight, much of what Trump has done, particularly in his foreign policy, has turned out to be effective. Realizing my mistake set me thinking about a question I've pondered my whole life: What does it mean to be smart?
