Nothing's design boss explains the big change behind Phone (3)
Nothing's first flagship phone is just around the corner, and now Nothing itself has revealed how its new Glyph Matrix will work. The Glyph Matrix is a compact, programmable system that replaces the Glyph Interface.
In an interview with Design Milk, Nothing's Head of Design, Adam Bates, shared some insight into the new system that will replace the well-known Glyph Interface on the Nothing Phone (3). Ever since Nothing launched its first phone, its unique design approach grabbed the attention. Curiously, Nothing decided to move away from the LED light strips seen on previous models in a surprising move. But apparently, the new Glyph Matrix is the next evolution in Nothing's phone design.
The company reveals that the Glyph Matrix consists of a dense cluster of micro-LEDs. The Glyph Matrix is situated in the top right corner of the phone and will be capable of displaying symbols, custom animations, and reactive lighting.
There are no predefined light strips anymore, it's a programmable micro-LED field, underlines Bates in the interview. Nothing's Head of Design also says the new Glyph Matrix is a canvas for real-time, glanceable communication that's alive, playful, and personal.
The Glyph Matrix features pixel-level responsiveness, says Bates, and unlocks features of true personalization.

Of course, you'd still be able to assign lighting effects to different apps and notifications, just like the OG Glyph Interface allowed you to.
-Adam Bates, Head of Design at Nothing
Nothing also stated that removing the Glyph Interface allowed it to free up more space inside the phone. And we all know how important it is in the tiny space that generally makes a phone, to have as much space as possible (for the battery, for cooling, for other components).
The new interface is also more programmable and gives the Nothing Phone (3) a recognizable look and visual identity, also added Bates.
Nothing is quite unique in the smartphone market right now with its designs. Companies like Samsung and Apple are sticking to what's known in recent years and as a consequence, phones have become somewhat boring. Nothing has shaken things up with its unique looks that I'm a huge fan of personally, and it reminds me of when tech used to look techy and fun. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!

Be careful including a trade-in with your Google Store purchase because you could get burned
If you prefer to trade in your previous daily drivers as opposed to letting them collect dust in a desk drawer, have we got good news for you. Google has raised the valuation of some devices that consumers trade-in toward the purchase of a new phone belonging to the Pixel 9 series. In some cases, Google will give you more credit for a third-party handset than the manufacturer of that phone will give you. These outstanding trade-in values are due to a special promotion that the Google Store U.K. is running until July 8th that adds between between £200 ($272.58) and £400 ($545.16) to the regular trade-in values. For example, the Google Store U.K. will give you a credit of as much as £517 ($704.62) when you include the Galaxy S23 Ultra as a trade with the purchase of a Pixel 9 series phone. Google will also credit a customer buying a Pixel 9 series device £373 ($508.36) if they include a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus as a trade. Consider this. Samsung will only give you £449 ($611.94) or 15% less for the Galaxy S23 Ultra and doesn't accept the Galaxy S10 Plus as a trade at all. Google also offers more for iPhone models included as a trade compared to Apple. Including the iPhone 14 Pro Max as a trade will shave the price of your Pixel 9 series phone by £657 ($897). Apple will allow you to take a credit of £470 ($640.56) for the same device. That's a pretty big difference. With the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the gap is even wider as Apple will credit you £165 ($224.88) compared to Google's £447 ($610.05). If you have a Pixel 5 that has been sitting inside a desk drawer, the U.K. Google Store will give you a credit of £454 ($618.75) with the purchase of a phone in the Pixel 9 line. That's pretty good for a phone with a mid-range processor that was released in 2020. The Google Store U.K. has a special promotion offering buyers of Pixel 9 models higher trade-in values. | Image credit-Google While the promotion might lead some consumers desiring a new Pixel to take advantage of Google's largesse, you need to be careful. The company handling this deal for Google is PCS Wireless and it will examine a device sent as part of a trade-in deal. If PCS determines that the true value of the phone is less than 75% of the estimated value, it will send the trade-in back to the buyer and no credit for it will be issued. On the other hand, should PCS determine that the value of the trade is worth 75% of the estimate but less than 100%, you will have to accept that amount and you'll be charged for the remaining amount of the phone that you owe. There is no appeal process. The U.S. Google Store also uses PCS Wireless to help with trade-in deals, so keep in mind that if the phone you send in is valued 75%-99% of the estimate, you won't get your phone back and you'll be asked to pay the 1% to 25% cost of you new Pixel 9 model that won't be covered your trade. Apple's newest app update just made following tennis a whole lot simpler in time for Wimbledon
Just ahead of Wimbledon, Apple has updated its free Apple Sports app to support tennis. The addition brings real-time scores for both Grand Slam and 1000-level tournaments, starting with Wimbledon 2025. The Apple Sports app had added tennis to its list of supported sports. | Image credit — Apple Tennis fans can now follow every point from all men's and women's singles matches. Scores update live, just like they already do for other leagues supported in the app, such as the NBA and NFL. Fans can track their favorite players throughout the tournament, from the opening round to the finals. Alongside tennis support, Apple Sports also received a redesigned home screen. The updated layout allows fans to customize their experience more easily. Events are now grouped by league, and users can set the order they appear in. Teams marked as favorites are pinned to the top, giving quick access to relevant scores and match updates. Live Activities are also available for tennis matches. This feature sends real-time updates to the iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch, so fans can follow the action without constantly checking the app. Another existing feature, Game Card Sharing, allows users to share matchup cards from supported leagues with friends. Tennis matches are also supported by Live Activities. | Image credit — Apple The app remains free to use and is available only on iPhone. While the update doesn't include tennis video highlights or analysis, it does focus on quick score delivery and basic match stats. It's aimed at fans who want simple, real-time information without extra content or clutter. Even though I'm not personally into tennis, I've found the Apple Sports app useful for staying on top of other leagues. For those who follow Wimbledon and other major tournaments, this is a practical new way to track matches throughout the season. Apple's sports app launched earlier this year and has slowly added support for more leagues and features. Tennis is the latest step in that rollout. With the new home screen experience and fast score tracking, the app is becoming more customizable and useful for different types of fans. For anyone looking for a simple way to keep up with live scores during Wimbledon, this update comes at the right time. It's a small but meaningful step forward in Apple's growing effort to build a reliable sports platform for iPhone users. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! Samsung is taking a more realistic approach to VR than Apple did
Samsung will most likely unveil its upcoming XR ( Extended Reality ) headset — named Project Moohan — on September 29 this year. Unlike Apple's approach for the Apple Vision Pro last year, however, Samsung is reportedly taking a much more realistic approach with its foray back into XR. According to a recent report ( translated source ), Samsung is only considering 100,000 units for the headset's initial launch. To put that into perspective, even the upcoming Galaxy G Fold — Samsung's tri-foldable phone — will have at least 200,000 units made for its own limited release. This is obviously due to the fact that the XR industry still remains a niche market. Furthermore, according to all of the news that has come in about the hardware powering it, Project Moohan will likely be quite expensive. It might not be as expensive as the Vision Pro, which was $3,499 at launch, but it won't be as affordable as the Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S either. Project Moohan seen at Galaxy Unpacked. | Image credit — PhoneArena Apple was convinced that the Vision Pro would sell out everywhere. Initially, the company thought that they would have sold a million units by the end of 2024. Now, in the middle of 2025, rough estimates point to around half a million headsets having been sold. Enterprise interest in the Vision Pro, something that Apple was heavily banking on, also dwindled soon after release. Samsung has already lowered sales expectations for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 due to the foldable industry's current state. The company has been smart enough to apply that same logic to Project Moohan. Despite that, and that fact that Project Moohan will only come out in Korea at first, I think that Samsung's headset has a lot of potential. If the company is able to provide an experience comparable to the Vision Pro at a lower cost, I can see the headset selling a lot better than its rival. And, obviously, it should come with support for VR games. That was a mistake that Apple made with its headset. Naturally, as it becomes cheaper to manufacture, we'll see more affordable successors pop up in the coming years. But whether it will be able to compete against the smart AR glasses that Meta and Apple are working on remains to be seen. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
