Trump urges Europe to act on immigration during Scotland visit
'On immigration, you better get your act together,' Trump told reporters. 'You're not going to have Europe anymore if you don't. Last month, we had nobody entering our country—nobody. You've got to stop this horrible invasion.'
The president, who is set to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Scottish First Minister John Swinney, praised Starmer as a 'good man' for securing a long-awaited trade deal. 'He got it done in 12 years—that's a good deal for the UK,' Trump said.
Trade discussions are high on the agenda, with Trump hinting at a potential US-Europe deal, calling it the 'biggest deal of them all.' European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will also visit Scotland to negotiate terms.
Despite the diplomatic focus, Trump's trip has drawn criticism, with protests expected. Police Scotland has reinforced security with officers from other UK forces to manage demonstrations. - Bernama-PA Media/dpa

'Govt offices must play National Month song'
PUTRAJAYA: All government offices must play this year's National Day and Malaysia Day theme song Malaysia Madani Rakyat Disantuni. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the "catchy, melodious and pleasant" song would ignite the spirit of the National Month. The song is composed by Datuk Mokhzani Ismail, arranged by young composer Affan Mazlan and performed by Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin. "I feel this year's theme song is truly magical and extraordinary. The song has also caught the attention and praise of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who said it was 'really, really good'," he said during the Communications Ministry's monthly assembly here yesterday. Present were Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching; Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj. The song made its official debut at the National Month Launch and Jalur Gemilang Flag-Raising Ceremony at Dataran Tanjung Emas in Muar, Johor on Sunday. Fahmi also requested that Radio Televisyen Malaysia, Bernama and other broadcasters play the theme song before and after main news bulletins, as well as in promotional videos to create a lively atmosphere and boost the spirit of patriotism throughout the National Month. "I am asking that the ministry play the theme song either in the lobby or as background music during official events. We will also propose to the Prime Minister's Department that this song be played at all official events attended by the prime minister during the National Month. "This will be discussed further with the department," he said. Fahmi said the Communications Ministry was making preparations to ensure the celebrations ran smoothly, including field activities, security, broadcasting facilities and performances. He said the ministry was resolving Internet connectivity issues as well as safety and traffic control aspects at the celebration venues. "A lot of preparations are underway and, so far, I am satisfied. "We are also planning special 'gimmicks' for both celebrations," he said. This year's National Day celebration will be held in Putrajaya on Aug 31, and the Malaysia Day celebration at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena in Penang on Sept 16. Bernama

Armed forces join diplomatic military visit to Cambodia-Thailand border
KUALA LUMPUR: The armed forces today joined a diplomatic military delegation invited to observe the hotspot area along the Cambodia-Thailand border, which has reportedly been experiencing cross-border tensions. In a social media post, the armed forces said the visit, specifically to the Anlong Veng-Phnom An Ma (Chong An Ma) zone, reflects Malaysia's commitment to regional defence diplomacy and its active role in fostering confidence and transparency among Asean nations. "The visit was also joined by representatives from several major world powers and other neighbouring countries, including the United States, China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar. "According to Cambodian local media reports, the Cambodian government initiated the invitation of foreign military delegations as a show of openness and confidence in its position that no border violation has occurred," the statement said. The post further stated that Cambodia had instead emphasised that all actions taken were to ensure the security of its own territory. "The Chong An Ma zone has previously been a point of contention between Cambodia and Thailand, particularly during incidents involving the Preah Vihear Temple. "In this context, Cambodia's hosting of the observation visit is seen as part of an information warfare strategy and military diplomacy to shape a narrative favourable to them at the international level," the post added. It also noted that, so far, Thai authorities have not issued any official response regarding the move, and like other invited nations, Malaysia has yet to release any public statement on the findings from the visit. In a related development, Malaysia's Chief of Defence Forces General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar is scheduled to make official visits to Thailand and Cambodia as part of regional diplomatic efforts. "This visit follows the announcement of an immediate ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, which was achieved through a Special Meeting organised by Malaysia with both neighbouring countries," the post added.– Bernama
