A GARDENING expert has lifted the lid on how homeowners can swat away weeds and keep their lawns free of bald patches.
With temperatures warming up as we head into the weekend, many of us are likely making plans to spend time relaxing in the garden.

An expert has revealed how to keep weeds and bald patches at bay this summer
However, after a long winter of neglect, our lawns may be in need of a bit of TLC.
And for those looking to spruce up their brown looking lawns, Home Bargains has the perfect budget buy.
Gardening fans can pick up Speedy Seed for just £4.99 from the bargain retailer.
Home Bargains bosses said: "Fast-acting grass seed and easy to use, this Speedy Seed Grass Seed is a great way to fix dead patches in your lawn.
"This lawn seed features fast-germinating seeds to provide you with a flawless lawn in no time.
"Perfect for bringing new life to old lawns and restoring the greenery of your garden."
For those wanting to go the extra mile, whizz Ivana Agustina, Head of Project Management at ShrubHub, gave green-fingered Brits another nugget of wisdom regarding the best time to mow your lawn.
'People don't realise that grass gets stressed just like any plant,' she said.
Many gardeners make the common mistake of mowing their grass in the midday heat, without realising the harm this can do to the grass.
'If you mow it at the wrong time, you're basically wounding the lawn when it's least able to recover.'
I detached both my biceps from the bone and only train in my back garden - now I'm competing in World's Strongest Man
The expert revealed that in spring the best time to mow your lawn is between 9 am and 11 am.
'Mowing during late morning means you're not clogging your mower with wet clippings or baking the lawn in midday heat,' she said.
Ivana explained that one of the worst times to mow your grass is before 8 am as grass is still wet from morning dew, which leads to "uneven trimming".
She added that between 2 pm and 4 pm is also not a good time to cut the grass, as this is the hottest part of the day, "which is bad news for moisture retention and overall lawn health."
The expert added: "You're slicing into already-dry blades under a blazing sun.
'That kind of trauma leaves your grass vulnerable to pests, yellowing, and fungal infections.'
During the summer time, the expert revealed that the best time to mow is between 6 am and 8 am, as this allows you to avoid the heat.
Ivana said that cutting your lawn at the wrong time could lead to fungal diseases, uneven growth and increased weed risk.

Shock moment two Brit women brawl on Tenerife street as leering yobs spur them on sparking local fury on holiday island

THIS is the shocking moment two unruly Brits start fighting each other in Tenerife while getting cheered on by immature yobs. The violent footage taken in Playa de Las Américas sparked fury among locals on the popular holiday island. 3 3 At the start of the astonishing footage, one of the women dressed in white is seen lunging at another tourist. She brazenly tackles her face-first onto the ground. Dressed in a black and red dress, the blonde woman appears to try to fight back. But she is seemingly overwhelmed by the black-haired Brit, who then starts to pummel the tourist as she tries to defend herself on the floor. After taking several hard blows, the helpless woman then attempts to get up. She instead throws herself on another part of the street before she is hit again. At this point, the cheering yobs stop the violence and separate the brawling pair. They pull apart the two Brits, who appear to be still holding each other by the hair. The blonde woman then eventually escapes a brutal headlock as the two stand up. She is pulled away to safety by another bystander and she then stumbles off. Fuming holidaymakers foil fellow Brits sneaky plans to secure sunbeds seven hours before hotel pool opens The footage has highlighted growing concerns over tourist behaviour in Tenerife, Spain 's largest Canary Island. A social media account that regularly posts reports of misbehaving Brits visiting the holiday hotspot shared the footage to outraged locals. The brutal fight was recorded opposite Las Verónicas - the main area for nightclubs in Playa de Las Américas. The pair were then subject to a barrage of criticism from local residents. Social media users poured out in the comments, branding the tourists as "a disgrace". One user said: "This is becoming unbearable." Another appalled viewer said: "What a disgrace, and it's only getting worse." This latest example of poor tourist behaviour has intensified calls for more police presence and tighter regulation of nightlife activity in Tenerife. In May, thousands of fed-up locals flooded the streets of the Canary Islands in Spain's third wave of protests against overtourism this year. Locals across the Canaries cried that their home had been turned into a playground for tourists. Demonstrations took place across the Spanish archipelago's islands, including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. Holidaymakers awkwardly watched from the sidelines as the marches progressed through towns. In Santa Cruz alone, Tenerife's capital, around 7,000 people were estimated to be on the streets by Spanish security forces.
