Rohan Gurbaxani: Working with Anurag Basu sir on Metro… In Dino felt like stepping onto a blank canvas every single day
Rohan Gurbaxani, who appeared in Bandish Bandits, Made In Heaven and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, will now be seen in
Anurag Basu
's Metro… In Dino as Aryan, an IT professional turned painter. The actor explains that portraying a painter 'was unique because painting brings a certain gentleness.
I practiced freehand drawing and painting, and as a child I took painting classes.
That taught me about letting go and allowing your mind to run free.'
Recalling his time on Basu's set, he shares, 'That concept was exactly how I felt on sir's set — every day felt like going to a clean canvas. He doesn't work with a script: you might think you know the outline, but on dada's set you have no script, so it's a fresh canvas each day.
I used different, intuitive strokes with Aryan and every day felt like a new painting.'
When asked about working with
Konkona Sen Sharma
and
Pankaj Tripathi
for the film, Rohan says, 'Working with Konkona and Pankaj ji was something every young actor dreams of. I grew up watching them—they bring truth and realism to every performance, and simply being around them teaches you a lot. From day one on set, they were friendly, welcoming, and warm.'
He adds, 'They share a calm, composed energy and come alive when the camera rolls. Being opposite actors like them, who deliver such honesty with each line, pushes you to match their truthfulness. I'm open to receiving and reacting, not thinking about my own performance, because acting is all about responding — and from them I learnt so much.'

‘Metro... In Dino' early X reviews: Netizens call Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi starrer ensemble film ‘a heartfelt ode to love and relationships'
Anurag Basu is ready to bring his latest film 'Metro... In Dino' to the big screens tomorrow. The movie, called the spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit 'Life in a... Metro', has already got people talking thanks to its early reviews on social media. With a stellar cast of Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan , Pankaj Tripathi , Konkona Sen Sharma , Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta, the film follows the love stories of different couples living in a busy metro city. A mix of love stories across all ages 'Metro... In Dino' is all about how people of all ages deal with love and relationships. The film weaves together four different love stories — of young couples, middle-aged partners and older pairs — all set against the rush of the city. It's this blend of stories that makes it the perfect follow-up to 'Life in a... Metro'. Like the earlier film, it explores how people fall in love, get hurt, heal and sometimes find each other again in the chaos of city life. What people are saying on social media Some viewers got to watch the film before its official release and shared their thoughts on X (formerly Twitter). Their reviews make it clear that the film is striking the right emotional chords. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo One viewer posted, 'Metro... In Dino is a heartwarming and nicely shot film about different people and their relationships in a big city. It's a sequel to Life in a... Metro, and it has that same emotional vibe. The music by #Pritam is really good and adds a nice feel to the movie. The acting is solid all around, #AnupamKher, #pankajtripathi , #neenagupta , #KonkanaSenSharma, and #FatimaSanaShaikh really stood out – they were great. Some parts are slow, but overall, it's a beautiful film that feels real and emotional. Definitely recommended if you like movies about life and relationships.' Another early review read, '#MetroInDino is a sweet heart felt ode to love and relationships which will tug at your heart strings. #pankajtripathi #KonkonaSenSharma #AdityaRoyKapur #FatimaSanaShaikh #SaraAliKhan #Alifazal #AnupamKher #neenagupta are all wonderful. The music is outstanding' A third viewer summed it up by writing, 'Metro… In Dino is a soulful journey through urban hearts 6 people, 6 stories, 1 emotion — loneliness & love. Anurag Basu + Pritam's music = Cinematic magic' The Times of India Review 'Metro... In Dino' has also been reviewed by The Times of India, who compared it closely to 'Life in a... Metro'. Their review reads 'Anurag Basu's 2007 ensemble film 'Life in a Metro' was an ode to love and survival in Mumbai. The film comprised great actors, riveting stories while letting Mumbai rain be the main character. 18 years later, he takes his fascination for changing relationship dynamics and perception of love in the digital age a notch ahead. ' It further mentions, 'The spiritual sequel expands its story from Mumbai to other metropolises of the country – Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata. More cities come with more everything -- chaos, characters, songs and a massive duration of 2 hours, 42 minutes. Barring a few loose ends, Basu pulls it off even when it looks like he's winging it. His conversational storytelling keeps things light and breezy even in times of sorrow and distress. Have more options ruined everlasting romance? Has excess information and availability killed the mystery around love? Basu tries to address these issues while ensuring humour finds its way through the loss and longing.' ,

Konkona Sensharma opens up about the silent struggles of working mothers ahead of Metro..In Dino: ‘Mum penalty exists!'
As Metro…In Dino gears up for release, Konkona Sensharma is opening up about the silent struggles working mothers face in an industry that celebrates glamour yet refuses to look past the smoke. In a recent interview with Firstpost, 45-year-old actor responded to a question about work-life balance without sugarcoating reality. 'I genuinely want to say that in today's day and age, there is a certain motherhood penalty in any industry which happens. It's called the fatherhood premium and the motherhood penalty,' she said. 'Because what happens is that fathers, as they have children and they become more and more senior, they earn more and more. But for women, with every child, there is a financial setback because you're not able to kind of participate in the way society expects you to or for that matter what the office work demands.' Bollywood actress Konkona Sen Sharma attends the opening ceremony of the MAMI Film Festival 2025 in Mumbai on April 15, 2025. (Photo by Sujit JAISWAL / AFP)(AFP) Konkona's remarks point to a wider conversation. 'Now what's going to happen ultimately is that women are not incentivised to have children at all because it's becoming more and more difficult. You know, to participate in the work life, and to be a good mother at the same time is becoming more and more difficult,' she added. 'So, I feel that this is something that eventually the governments will have to kind of change policies for working mothers. Otherwise it's not going to happen.' Mumbai, Jun 04 (ANI): Bollywood actors Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi, pose for a picture during the promotion of their upcoming romance/drama film 'Metro In Dino', in Mumbai on Tuesday. (ANI Photo)(Sunil Khandare ) In the movie, Kajal (Konkona's character)is married to the second Monty (Pankaj Tripathi). About their relationship, the actor reveals, 'What I like in this very much is that this is a couple who, I mean, we have a good marriage, everything is fine. But I think let's say after 10-12 years of marriage, when you have your kids, you have your EMIs, you have your school fees, your jobs and all that, then I think there's a domesticity that surrounds you. I think this is a challenge that many couples face. Especially so many of us are in long-term relationships or are in long-term marriages, you know. And then after 10, 12 years, that initial spark and that romance or whatever, that spark is gone. Or at least it changes. So that is something that many I think couples grapple with, that issue. And I feel like Anurag has really handled that sensitively with a lot of humour. This I think many couples will relate to.' Metro…In Dino boasts a powerhouse cast that includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Neena Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Kay Kay Menon alongside Konkona and Panjak. For long-time fans of the Life in a… Metro (2007) soundtrack, the return of Pritam Chakraborty's melodious vocals adds extra nostalgia, and while Irrfan Khan's magnanimous presence will be missed, the film promises new dynamics that many are looking forward to.
