Announcement from the government to lend one lakh pension to families with senior citizens of age 80 and above, changes the life of an 80-year-old Surajmukhi Devi. Dadi, who is brought back from the old-age home she was put in years ago, gets onto seeking fun revenge with her daughters-in-law, and challenges her two sons to fight for her custody. The fun twists and emotional turns makes this film a perfect watch.Known for his unconventional films like Dhh, Gandhi & Co., and Shubh Yatra, director Manish Saini is here with another fresh, unique and 'need-of-the-hour' concept. A sensitive topic shown in an extremely nuanced manner is a big win for the film. Manish, who co-wrote this film with Niren Bhatt, subtly highlights the unfortunate reality of society, in a lighter but impactful, hard-hitting manner.As for performances, Mallhar successfully grabs the attention of the audience since the first scene of the film and will surely win your heart in one emotional scene with his dadi. Veterans Tiku Talsania, Vandana Pathak, Shekhar Shukla and Shilpa Thakar are aptly cast for their respective characters and do a great job. The cute and oh-so-savage Dadi, played by Neela Mulherkar is a treat to watch as Surajmukhi Devi. Vyoma Nandi portrays a sweet character beautifully. With fun and chaotic twists to a beautiful heart-wrenching scenes, the film keeps you hooked throughout.While the film establishes itself well quickly in the first half, the second half may feel a bit stretched. Also, a sharper editing, especially towards the end of the film, would have made it a smoother watch. However, with constant unexpected developments in the story, the audience is hooked throughout the film.From rib-tickling moments to scenes that might leave you teary-eyed, the film highlights a hard-hitting reality of life. It should be on your list if you are looking for something new and fresh.
