The best café in London has been crowned for 2025
In London, we're lucky to have a bucketload of top tier independent cafés and bakeries. From old school caffs, to hipster hangouts our coffee shops are dishing out coffees, cakes and pastries around the clock that are worth queuing for – and we've ranked our favourites for you here.
But a new list of the top cafés in London has just been revealed by the 2025 Muddy Stilettos Awards. Now in its 12th year, each year the awards recognise the best independent businesses in a variety of categories according to public votes.
According to Muddy Stilettos, London's best café in 2025 is Swiss Bread Bakery & Café in Richmond. This indie coffee shop is run by best friends Andre and Tanja, who both hail from Switzerland, and is beloved for its fresh breads, croissants, cakes and cinnamon buns. The pair are also known for their Swiss lunches, which include flammkuchen, fondue, sausage boards and weekly specials.
Runners up for the best café in London were popular brunch spot Apple Butter in Covent Garden, De Morgan Café in Holland Park, Peggy Porschen in Belgravia and Urban Pantry in Chiswick.
Regional winners of each category will go head to head in the awards finals in June this year. The overall winners will be decided by the Muddy Stilettos editors.

"[I] got some stress fracture. What we decide with the team it was better to stop now, because if I'm stopping now, I could stop for only four to six weeks. "If I was pushing myself too much, I would probably stop for a couple of months. This is not what we are trying to do, so [we] had to make a choice." As for Djokovic, the Serbian ace is in prime position to clinch his 25th Grand Slam title after he dispatched British hopeful Cameron Norrie in straight sets during the fourth round at Roland Garros, marking his 100th career victory at the French Open, reports the Express. "Considering my opponent's form and the occasion, I think it was a very good match from my side, a very solid performance," Djokovic said. "A straight-sets win again. I'm pleased with the way things are going. Obviously matches only get tougher. I look forward to the next challenge." In the quarter-finals, Djokovic is set to take on German third seed Alexander Zverev, who progressed after Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands had to retire due to injury in the second set of their match.

My biggest bugbear with a hotel is when the rooms feel too sterile and uniform, making it feel not very cosy. Yet Artist Residence are made to feel like you are staying at your eccentric auntie's house, who loves trinkets and unique artwork. The London hotel has just 10 rooms, and is around five minutes from Victoria Station so is extremely centrally located. Advertisement The most basic room is the Small Room which still have king size beds and rainfall shower bathrooms, as well as space for an armchair and writing desks. I stayed in the Club Suite, the second largest in the hotel with a grand Super King bed with velvet scalloped headboard. Not only does it have amazing views over Cambridge Street, but it has a beautiful roll top bath. However, it is tucked down a quiet side-street so don't expect much noise at night. Advertisement When walking inside, it is full of brightly coloured curated artwork, This includes free breakfast as well as a bottle of rose in the room. Trendy English seaside town has rooftop bar that 'feels like the Med' The Cambridge Street restaurant is one of the best hotel restaurants I've been to, and even rivals some top London restaurants as well. The breakfast has all of the classics, from Full English to pastries but the chili fried egg and bacon brioche is a stela option to choose. Advertisement But the dinner shines with everything with the insanely delicious asparagus and pea gnocchi for vegetarians or the Med-inspired Sumac roast chicken . Another said the hotel feels like their "second home" and another wrote: "Felt more like staying at a friends stylish home than in a hotel".
