US airliner moved ‘aggressively' to avoid collision with B-52 bomber
The July 18 incident is being investigated, SkyWest Inc, which operated Delta flight 3788, said in a statement to Bloomberg News. The pilot apologised to passengers after landing, ABC said in a report Sunday, citing a recording of remarks by the pilot, who it did not identify.
The near-miss comes at a time air safety in the US is under intense scrutiny. With a chronic shortage of controllers, breakdowns of air traffic systems, and the fatal crash involving an American Air regional jet with a US Army helicopter, US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has pledged an overhaul to boost safety.
The SkyWest-operated Delta jet had departed from Minneapolis on Friday evening and was on approach to Minot Airport, North Dakota, which is located approximately 18km (11.2 miles) south of a US Air Force base. The military airfield is home to 26 B-52 bombers and almost 13,000 personnel, dependents, and civilians on-site.

The pilots were cleared to land by an air traffic controller, but they executed a go-around manoeuvre, SkyWest said.

Las Vegas-bound plane drops 300 feet after mid-air collision warning with UK fighter jet
A passenger jet heading to Las Vegas from Southern California in the United States took a dramatic plunge shortly after take-off on Friday in response to an alert about a nearby plane, injuring two flight attendants, authorities and passengers said. Southwest Airline flight 1496 was responding to an on-board alert about another aircraft in its vicinity, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The FAA is investigating. The crew responded to two air alerts that required the pilot to climb then descend, Southwest said in a statement. The flight departed from Hollywood Burbank Airport just before noon. Passengers posted on social media that the plane took a dramatic drop soon after take-off. Data from the flight tracking site FlightAware shows it dropped roughly 300 feet (91.44 metres) in 36 seconds. 'Pilot said his collision warning went off & he needed to avoid plane coming at us,' comedian Jimmy Dore posted on social media. The plane was in the same airspace near Burbank as a Hawker Hunter Mk. 58 just after noon local time, FlightAware data shows. A Hawker Hunter is a British fighter plane. Records show it is owned by Hawker Hunter Aviation, a British defence contracting company. The company did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

Passenger plane carrying nearly 50 crashes in eastern Russia
A Russian Antonov An-24 passenger plane carrying about 50 people crashed in the country's far east on Thursday, and everyone on board was feared to have been killed, emergency services officials said. Advertisement The burning fuselage of the plane, which was made in the Soviet era and was nearly 50 years old, was spotted on the ground by a helicopter, and rescue crews were rushing to the scene. Video shot from a helicopter and posted on social media showed the plane came down in a densely forested area. Pale smoke could be seen rising from the crash site. The plane was on a flight by a privately owned Siberian-based regional airline called Angara. The aircraft's tail number showed it was built in 1976 and was operated by the Soviet flag carrier Aeroflot before the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union. The crash site.
