Texas A&M baseball lands commitment from promising Clemson left-handed pitcher
Texas A&M baseball head coach Michael Earley landed a commitment from another promising left-handed pitcher on Wednesday afternoon.
Ethan Darden announced that he would be joining the Aggies' pitching rotation, which marks the second pitcher commit for Earley and company this offseason. The Rock Hill, S.C., native posted a 5.50 ERA with 121 strikeouts over 162 innings pitched for the Clemson Tigers since 2023. He started his freshman season as a long reliever before he made the switch to the starting rotation for the Clemson bullpen in 2024.
Darden was ranked as the No. 193 left-hander in his class and the No. 7 lefty in South Carolina by Perfect Game before he officially put the pen to paper and signed with the Tigers in 2022. He began his collegiate career in 2023 by striking out 45 hitters through 55.1 innings pitched and finishing the season with a 5.53 ERA.
His sophomore season in 2024 saw much improvement from the left-hander as he began to enter the Clemson starting rotation. Through 66.2 innings pitched, Darden recorded a 5.13 ERA, 42 strikeouts and notched his first-career complete game.
This past season, which featured the Tigers reaching a Super Regional appearance against the Texas Longhorns, Darden finished with a 4-2 overall record and struck out 34 through 40.0 innings. Although it was not the outing Darden would have liked, he still brought some impressive stuff on the mound and could be a good relief piece in the Texas A&M pitching rotation next year.
One of the major issues for the Aggies throughout the 2025 campaign was trying to get more consistency from the bullpen, which is why the position has been such a focus for the Aggie skipper this offseason. After finishing the season without a postseason appearance for the first time since 2021, the program will need arms like Darden to add depth to a relatively youthful rotation heading into 2026.

5-star QB Ryder Lyons sets commitment date with Oregon Football among favorites
5-star QB Ryder Lyons sets commitment date with Oregon Football among favorites BREAKING: Five-Star QB Ryder Lyons will announce his Commitment on June 24th, he tells me for @on3recruits He's the Top Uncommitted QB in the 2026 Classhttps:// — Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) June 19, 2025 The following week is going to be a busy one for Oregon Duck fans who follow high school recruiting. There are some high-profile prospects for whom the Ducks are in a good position to come off the board, and on Wednesday night, one of the most impactful players announced that he's joining the group set to announce his commitment in the coming days. That player is 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 13 player and No. 4 QB in the 2026 class. On Wednesday, Lyons announced that he will officially make his commitment on Tuesday, June 24, following his official visit to the BYU Cougars. Lyons took his visit to Oregon last week, and with his commitment reportedly coming down to the Ducks and Cougars, it makes sense that he wants to make his decision after this weekend. While Oregon is seen as a strong contender to land Lyons, based on their track record of developing QBs, the offensive system, and his relationship with offensive coordinator Will Stein, BYU is a huge threat here. Several reports show that the Cougars have offered a massive NIL deal for Lyons, who has strong ties to the morman community and is expected to take an LDS mission out of high school, delaying his freshman year until 2027. Ultimately, it's likely going to come down to which matters more for Lyons; a huge lump sum of money, or the opportunity to play for and be developed by the Ducks. Ultimately, we will find out next week where the 5-star is going to end up. Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding in Cleveland after Browns' minicamp
Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding in Cleveland after Browns' minicamp Shedeur Sanders has had expectations of excellence placed on him since he was young, but he may have more eyes on him now than he ever did before. However, after his historic draft slide, Sanders has done nothing but impress fans, coaches, and teammates up to this point. That's why it's unfortunate to see that Sanders' first mistake as Brown happened earlier this week. The rookie quarterback was pulled over and given a citation for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Cleveland early Tuesday morning. Fox 8 Cleveland broke the news and released a video of the incident, where Sanders remained calm and fully cooperated with the officers. During a back-and-forth, the two officers involved discussed Sanders' speed and his connection to his father, Deion Sanders. "Has he been cool with you?" one officer asks the other about Sanders' cooperation, to which the primary officer involved responds, "Yeah, he's been real cool." Sanders was not cited for driving under the influence, and the rest of the stop played out as usual. Due to the extreme level that Sanders was found to be over the speed limit, he faces a $250 fine, or he can choose to fight it in court. There is almost no doubt that Sanders, who admitted to his mistake in the video, will quickly pay the fine and put this incident behind him so he can refocus on football. Sanders is competing in a loaded Browns quarterback room filled with veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillion Gabriel. Former Cubs' Javier Baez Set to Reach 10th Year of Service Time
Former Cubs' Javier Baez Set to Reach 10th Year of Service Time originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, and a large part of that team was versatile infielder Javier Baez. He played eight years with the Cubs, appearing in 815 games for the team during his stint. Advertisement In 2025, now with the Detroit Tigers, the fan favorite Cubs infielder will reach 10 years of MLB service time. Chris McCosky of the Detroit News, preemptively congratulated Baez on Twitter/X for reaching 10 years of service time. Baez, upon being on the roster for the Tigers game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, June 17th, will reach his tenth year of service time. Not only is it a nice accomplishment for Baez, but it comes with a lot of perks as well. Once a player reaches 10 years of service time, they become qualified for a fully vested portion of the pension program. This fully vested pension program is a huge deal for Major Leaguers. It's security even after they retire, and grants them stability for, essentially, the rest of their life. Advertisement Reaching such a milestone isn't just about the accomplishment of accruing 10 years of service time; it's about receiving security in the form of a pension once they retire. Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez (28) reacts to his standing ovation for his first game back at Wrigley Field during the second inning in a game against the Chicago Gorski-Imagn Images Players build up days of service time by being on an MLB roster or the injured list during a season. With each MLB season totaling roughly 187 days, the total needed for "one year" of service time isn't 365 days, but rather just 172. So, Baez, throughout his 12 seasons in MLB between the Cubs, Mets, and Tigers, will reach his tenth year of service time in the Tigers game on Tuesday night, June 17th. In his MLB career, Baez has spent the majority of it with the Cubs, where he accumulated 21.8 WAR, 754 hits, 419 runs, 151 doubles, 19 triples, 140 home runs, and 4443 RBIs. Advertisement After 12 seasons, eight of which came with the Cubs, during which he became a franchise legend, Baez is set to reach his tenth year of service time. Congratulations are in store for Baez, and 10 years of service time is the goal for a lot of Major Leaguers around baseball.
