Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding in Cleveland after Browns' minicamp
Shedeur Sanders has had expectations of excellence placed on him since he was young, but he may have more eyes on him now than he ever did before.
However, after his historic draft slide, Sanders has done nothing but impress fans, coaches, and teammates up to this point. That's why it's unfortunate to see that Sanders' first mistake as Brown happened earlier this week. The rookie quarterback was pulled over and given a citation for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Cleveland early Tuesday morning.
Fox 8 Cleveland broke the news and released a video of the incident, where Sanders remained calm and fully cooperated with the officers. During a back-and-forth, the two officers involved discussed Sanders' speed and his connection to his father, Deion Sanders.
"Has he been cool with you?" one officer asks the other about Sanders' cooperation, to which the primary officer involved responds, "Yeah, he's been real cool."
Sanders was not cited for driving under the influence, and the rest of the stop played out as usual. Due to the extreme level that Sanders was found to be over the speed limit, he faces a $250 fine, or he can choose to fight it in court.
There is almost no doubt that Sanders, who admitted to his mistake in the video, will quickly pay the fine and put this incident behind him so he can refocus on football. Sanders is competing in a loaded Browns quarterback room filled with veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillion Gabriel.

(AP Photo/Sue Ogrocki) Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12) sits on the field after practice at NFL football minicamp in Berea, Ohio, Wednesday, June 11, 2025. (AP Photo/Sue Ogrocki) STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is accused of driving a pickup truck 101 mph (163 kilometers per hour) on a suburban Cleveland interstate earlier this week. The Strongsville Police Department stopped Sanders at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in a 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) zone on Interstate 71 near the Ohio Turnpike, according to a report provided to local media. Advertisement Sanders, 23, could pay a $250 fine to waive the fourth-degree misdemeanor case, according to police. The Browns did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sanders, the son of Hall of Fame player Deion Sanders, was drafted in the fifth round (144th overall) of the NFL draft this spring, even though many projections had him going in the first round. He played under his father at the University of Colorado. Sanders is competing against three other quarterbacks with the Browns. They wrapped up minicamp last week and will open training camp in late July. ___ AP NFL:

Jalen Ramsey spotted at UCLA — fueling Steelers trade rumors due to DK Metcalf connection
Jalen Ramsey spotted at UCLA — fueling Steelers trade rumors due to DK Metcalf connection Jalen Ramsey has been working out at the same place as Steelers WR DK Metcalf #noticing — Polymarket Football (@PolymarketBlitz) June 19, 2025 Jalen Ramsey's UCLA training pic has gone viral after weeks of Steelers trade rumors and speculation. UCLA Football posted several pictures of Ramsey's training session, which sent social media pages into a frenzy. Polymarket Football quickly speculated that the workout could be connected to DK Metcalf, as the Steelers wide receiver had his famous throwing session with Aaron Rodgers there. Back in April, insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Dolphins and Ramsey had mutually agreed to seek trade options. Over the past several weeks, Ramsey has been connected to both the Rams and Steelers as potential landing spots for the three-time All-Pro corner — while HC Sean McVay claimed "obstacles" may prevent Los Angeles from acquiring him. Steelers fans should take the now-viral UCLA workout speculation with a grain of salt, as Ramsey's choice of training facility being similar to that of Rodgers and Metcalf is likely coincidence — but it definitely adds more fuel to the rumored Pittsburgh trade narrative this offseason.
