Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding in Cleveland after Browns' minicamp
Shedeur Sanders has had expectations of excellence placed on him since he was young, but he may have more eyes on him now than he ever did before.
However, after his historic draft slide, Sanders has done nothing but impress fans, coaches, and teammates up to this point. That's why it's unfortunate to see that Sanders' first mistake as Brown happened earlier this week. The rookie quarterback was pulled over and given a citation for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Cleveland early Tuesday morning.
Fox 8 Cleveland broke the news and released a video of the incident, where Sanders remained calm and fully cooperated with the officers. During a back-and-forth, the two officers involved discussed Sanders' speed and his connection to his father, Deion Sanders.
"Has he been cool with you?" one officer asks the other about Sanders' cooperation, to which the primary officer involved responds, "Yeah, he's been real cool."
Sanders was not cited for driving under the influence, and the rest of the stop played out as usual. Due to the extreme level that Sanders was found to be over the speed limit, he faces a $250 fine, or he can choose to fight it in court.
There is almost no doubt that Sanders, who admitted to his mistake in the video, will quickly pay the fine and put this incident behind him so he can refocus on football. Sanders is competing in a loaded Browns quarterback room filled with veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillion Gabriel.
