Pro Stock King Greg Anderson Red Lights — and Wins — at NHRA Arizona Nationals
Anderson is 64 years old and constantly wisecracks about being a greybeard. Glenn, too, fondly gets in his digs to his mentor. But Anderson was not going crazy Sunday. The final round was the weirdest even the experts have seen in the sport's history.
You see, drag racing has no start-finish line. It has a starting line, and it has a finish line. For the Pro Stock class, those two lines are a quarter-mile apart. But with a weird technical twist, Sunday's starting line was the finish line. Both Anderson and Glenn committed foul starts, and both cars lost power immediately.
Anderson saw his win light come on, and he said later that he didn't know how he could red-light—and have his car quit on him, to boot—and still win. He said he knew he had red-lit at the Christmas Tree—jumped the gun—but didn't have any idea what Glenn, his KB Titan Racing teammate, was doing. So he figured he needed to try to get his HendrickCars.com Chevy Camaro to hook up again and was supremely frustrated he couldn't do that. 'I had no chance of winning that race,' he said, but little did he know he already had won it. Glenn, too, was frustrated for his own reasons.
In a situation like that, the driver who red-lights second is declared the winner.
'We both blew it,' Anderson declared. 'We wanted to put on a good show, and that wasn't much of a show. They say there's no such thing as an ugly win. Well, that was an ugly win. But a win is a win is a win. We'll forget about the details of it. The Great Lord shined on me today.'
The win was No. 107 in Anderson's career.

Rob Gronkowski likes idea of signing one-day contract with Patriots
Legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski is open to the idea of signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the New England Patriots. Gronkowski was in Boston for the grand opening of "Gronk Playground." Susan Hurley helps Gronkowski run his charities and is the founder of CharityTeams. She is currently fighting Stage IV cancer and has pushed for the tight end to retire with the Patriots. Gronkowski admitted that he liked that idea "a lot" when speaking with media members. "I like that a lot. The reason why we're really going to do that is because of Susan Hurley. She wants to see that happen. She's been dreaming about that happening for a while," Gronkowski said. "RKK [Robert Kraft] gave her the thumbs up, so we're going to make it happen in the future. It's going to be a special moment. Come back for a day, a weekend, whatever it is. We'll make it happen." Gronkowski is often recognized as the greatest tight end of all time. He finished his career with four Super Bowl wins and four First-Team All-Pro nods after posting 621 receptions for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns. A major ceremony only makes sense for a player who made an impact the way that Gronkowski did in New England. He is one of the organization's all-time greats. Despite finishing his career helping Tom Brady win a championship in Tampa Bay, Gronkowski will always be a Patriot. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.

Jets' Aaron Glenn Has 1-Word Response to Team's Pass Rush
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Jets' pass rush looked so dominant in practice on Tuesday that it left head coach Aaron Glenn almost speechless. Brian Costello of the New York Post reported that Glenn said, "Whoa. That's all I can say is, 'Whoa.' EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - AUGUST 16: Head coach Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets looks on during the first half of the NFL Preseason 2025 game between New York Jets and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on August 16, 2025 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. More Photo byLinebacker Jermaine Johnson returned to practice for the first time this season after beginning the new league year on the physically unable to perform list as he recovered from Achilles surgery. According to Costello, Johnson was a frequent uninvited guest in offensive backfields during practice. Pairing Johnson with Will McDonald, along with All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams rushing on the interior, is something that Glenn is looking forward to. "I think we see Will has a fastball that is like elite in this league," Glenn told reporters. "Jermaine is a bigger body — 265, 270 pounds — that's a true power player but he does have speed also." In a division with a couple of high-octane offenses, limiting time for plays to develop is going to be a key to the Jets' success. Containing and controlling Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is not an easy task, but the Jets' defensive front is going to have to step up to the challenge. Keeping their core of pass rushers healthy long term is the biggest piece of the puzzle for the Jets' defense this season. McDonald and Williams have both missed time with injuries during training camp, but with the season right around the corner, the trio is ready to get after opposing quarterbacks again this season. Fully healthy Jets pass rush leaves Aaron Glenn speechless
Take flight with the Jets Text with Brian Costello all season as he brings Sports+ subscribers the latest Jets intel from on the field and off. tRY IT NOW The Jets pass rush left coach Aaron Glenn searching for words on Tuesday. 'Whoa,' Glenn said. 'That's all I can say is, 'Whoa.' ' Advertisement Jermaine Johnson returned to team drills for the first time this summer. Johnson started off training camp on the physically unable to perform list as he returned from Achilles surgery last year. Johnson was back on Tuesday and he was in the backfield frequently. '[Johnson] is out there and he's rushing the passer and he runs right by me and it was just like wind, like, 'Whoosh,' ' Glenn said. 'Just goes by me and then you see [Quinnen Williams]. It felt good. I'll just say that. It felt really good.' The Jets defensive line has not been whole during camp with Johnson only coming off PUP last week. Williams has missed time with a calf injury and Will McDonald has dealt with back tightness and a knee injury. Advertisement Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson speaks to the media after a practice. Bill Kostroun/New York Post Glenn is dreaming of what McDonald and Johnson — two first-round picks — can do off the edge. 'I think we see Will has a fastball that is like elite in this league,' Glenn said. 'Jermaine is a bigger body — 265, 270 pounds — that's a true power player but he does have speed also. To me, a lot of times when you have that dynamic, you can have one guy from one side rush with power, when he's running right through the tackle, now the quarterback has to have an escape lane and you have a guy who has speed that can come from the backside and make a play. … That makes a hell of a rush. … I'm looking forward to seeing those guys work together.' Advertisement Jets coach Aaron Glenn speaks to the media after practice. Bill Kostroun/New York Post Glenn said a 'good amount' of starters won't play in the preseason finale Friday against the Eagles. The Jets have played starters in each of the first two games. Glenn would not say specifically who won't play, but it feels like a safe bet that quarterback Justin Fields won't play. Advertisement 'It gives us a chance to look at some of our other young guys and give them plenty of playing time so we can evaluate them,' Glenn said. 'It's getting down to nut-cutting time as far as who's going to make the 53.' Glenn had a funny line when talking about the team's running backs on Tuesday to avoid any trade talk about Breece Hall. 'We have three good running backs,' Glenn said. 'I keep saying that. They all have different skill sets that we're going to utilize. That does not mean that I'm trading Breece. OK? It does not. I'm going to say that right now. I just like having three good guys. Hell, I wish I had more.'
