Savory Tomato Pie at 2025 Masters: So what's the verdict on its taste?
The Masters Tournament's newest menu item has gained a lot of publicity over the past week.
While so many are focused on gnomes, there's another buzz at Augusta National Golf Club going on — at the concession stand.
The Savory Tomato Pie took the social media world by storm following a Masters X (formerly Twitter) post on April 1, so much so that some thought it may be an April Fools' Day prank.
That was not the case. The empanada-style treat was available to patrons visiting for Saturday's Augusta National Women's Amateur final round and Sunday's Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals. It should continue to be a popular menu item throughout Masters week.
For starters, it's not your typical tomato sandwich. Think tomato sandwich meets Hot Pocket. The pie comes in a rectangle-shaped container designed to retain heat.
Augusta native Preston Pye, 34, tried one for the first time after he and his wife, Meg, visited the Patron Shop early Sunday afternoon. At first glance, he said it resembled an apple pie from a prominent restaurant chain. Pye described it as almost like a personal pizza roll, noting the container makes it easy to eat on the go while walking around the course.
The immediate reaction after Pye bit into the pie? It was HOT.
As for the most important answer on everyone's mind, Pye said he would buy it again. On an interesting note, he also floated the idea of combining the pie with a Pimento Cheese sandwich. He didn't try it on Sunday, but just know it's a possibility if you're feeling experimental later this week.
It's another option on the menu, joining the classics like the Pimento Cheese, Egg Salad, Masters Club, Classic Chicken and BBQ sandwiches. Will it stick around? Time will tell, but the early feedback looks positive.
The Savory Tomato Pie can be purchased at concession stands for $3 apiece.

Augusta University men's, women's golf programs find new conference home. On the West Coast

Both men's and women's Augusta University golf programs have a new home. The university announced Thursday that they are set to join the West Coast Conference as affiliate members, beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. Augusta competed as an NCAA Division-I independent until joining the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) in 2014. The Jaguars joined the Southland Conference following the 2021 season. "This is a great day for Augusta Golf," Augusta athletic director Ryan Erlacher said in a statement. "The West Coast Conference has an excellent reputation and will provide a wonderful new home for our golf programs. They've been beyond impressive to work with and we are grateful to their leadership for this tremendous opportunity. We look forward to representing the WCC exceedingly well for years to come." Famously, the Augusta men won back-to-back national championships in 2010 and 2011. Coached by Josh Gregory at the time, those teams featured names like Henrik Norlander and 2018 Masters Tournament champion Patrick Reed. In 2018, Broc Everett brough home the induvial NCAA national title at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In total, the Jaguars have advanced to the NCAA Championships 25 times, including top-5 finishes 1993, 1998, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2025. "This is an exciting announcement for our program," Augusta golf director and men's golf coach Steven Paine said in the release. "Joining the West Coast Conference positions our team among top-tier competition and opens new opportunities for growth, exposure, and championship play. Our players will embrace the challenge, and we're confident this move will elevate our program to even greater heights." On the women's side, Augusta advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2023 and owns 11 NCAA Regionals appearances since 2006. Kennedy Carroll (2024) and and Zoe Pinillos (2025) were named Southland Conference individual champions, while Florida State star Mirabel Ting earned those honors ― along with an All-American nod ― in 2023 as a freshman with the Jags. "It's a great opportunity for Augusta Women's Golf to compete at a higher level, grow as a team, and represent our university with pride," Augusta women's golf coach Ember Holloway said in the release. "We're ready for the challenge and grateful for the chance to be a part of something bigger." The other members of the West Coast Conference include Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Seattle. Gonzaga is set to join the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.

Travis Kelce Has an Unexpected Evil Role in 'Happy Gilmore 2'

THE RUNDOWN Netflix's Happy Gilmore 2 revisits the 1996 Adam Sandler movie and brings back much of the original cast, including Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald. It's also filled with celebrity cameos, including Travis Kelce, Margaret Qualley, and Bad Bunny. Kelce, who went Instagram official with Taylor Swift this week, appears in a scene that takes place in a country club restaurant the night before a major tournament, alluding to the famous Champions Dinner that takes place days before the annual Masters Tournament. In it, Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) appears with several real-life golf stars including Jordan Speith, Rickie Fowler, and Keegan Bradley. Kelce and Bad Bunny play waiters. Kelce's character, who is credited as The Waiter, puts on a phony niceness while serving the golfers, then turns nasty when he fires Bad Bunny's character, Oscar, for an understandable mistake. Kelce's character is revisited in a later scene. Happy asks Oscar, who has now become his caddy, to imagine his 'happy place.' In the fantasy sequence The Waiter is tied to a pole with his shirt off. Oscar slathers him in honey and then lets him be devoured by a bear. Oscar watches, satisfied. Despite the violent turn of events, Kelce has said that working on the long-awaited sequel was a 'dream.' '[Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome,' he said on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this year. Kelce's previously appeared onscreen in Ryan Murphy's FX series Grotesquerie in 2024 and on Saturday Night Live, as a host in 2023. 'Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell,' Sandler later told Entertainment Tonight. 'He's like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.' The Kansas City Chiefs training camp began last Sunday, causing Kelce to miss the film's premiere in New York City. Watch Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix Watch Happy Gilmore (1996) on Prime Video
