Aqualia, NWC Redefine House Connection Services in Saudi Arabia
Aqualia, a pioneering global water management company, has made a real difference in house connection services in Saudi Arabia's Northern Cluster.
In collaboration with the National Water Company (NWC), the company has developed an advanced strategy based on efficiency, data-driven decision-making, as well as excellent customer engagement.
In 2024, Aqualia successfully promoted service delivery, decreased backlogs and secured an 89% customer satisfaction rate, according to the company.
Before adopting the new strategy, house connection management faced several challenges such as delays, limited real-time visibility, and inefficient request prioritization.
As a result, Aqualia implemented a new structured system boasting daily tracking mechanisms, proactive customer communication, and KPI-based monitoring.
According to the new system, house connections are currently installed within 15 working days after payment and customer requests are processed within 5 working days before payment.
In order to ensure more customer satisfaction, the company also employed performance-based incentives for contractors, linking their success to customer satisfaction metrics and operational timelines. This approach has significantly fostered accountability and the overall customer experience.
Looking ahead, Aqualia aims to accelerate automation, data integration, and cross-functional collaboration to support long-term improvements in house connection management.

Today, we build on the strength of the past and harness the momentum of the present to jointly shape a new vision for the future,' the ambassador said. 'With Expo 2025 taking place in Osaka and Saudi Arabia hosting Expo 2030 in Riyadh, our two countries stand at the forefront of global exchange, showcasing the latest innovations and sustainable technologies, and contributing to shaping an inclusive future for all.' The Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka hosts hundreds of business events aimed at strengthening trade and investment relations between the Kingdom and Japan. These include presentations led by the Ministries of Investment and Commerce, as well as events highlighting the trade and investment opportunities offered by Saudi Vision 2030. Trade volume between the two countries has grown significantly over the past decade, rising from $33.4 billion to over $41 billion currently. The Saudi Pavilion aims to increase the number of Japanese visitors to the Kingdom, targeting 30,000 annual visitors before Expo 2030 Riyadh. This is part of the comprehensive Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 strategy, which includes more than 80 projects across nine sectors: culture, food and agricultural security, media and entertainment, healthcare, advanced infrastructure, finance and investment, competitive industries, energy, small and medium enterprises, sports, and education. Cultural exchange between the two countries has flourished, highlighted by Saudi Arabia's role in bringing Japanese culture to the Middle East through local manga studios, whose works will be showcased at the Saudi Pavilion in August. The Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka offers more than 700 diverse and engaging events, including daily shows and live performing arts. Since the Expo opened in April 2025, it has attracted over 500,000 visitors. On September 23, it is expected to host a variety of events and presentations in celebration of Saudi National Day.

Saudi authorities pump nearly 1 million cubic meters of water to serve Hajj pilgrims
MAKKAH: Saudi water authorities have provided nearly a million cubic meters of water to serve the 1.4 million Muslim pilgrims participating in the Hajj since Wednesday. The National Water Company said that it pumped more than 980,633 cubic meters of water to key holy sites visited by pilgrims, including Makkah, Madinah, Mina, Mount Arafat and Muzdalifah. The Saudi Water Authority, a government body overseeing water operations in the Kingdom, said that providing water to pilgrims was one of its 24-hour continuous tasks during the Hajj season. On Thursday, it presented its comprehensive water supply chain plan, which begins with seawater desalination, undergoes transportation and treatment, and ends with distribution, reuse and irrigation. An interactive presentation, 'The Story of Water in Hajj,' was shown in numerous languages at the Hajj Media Hub, an integrated media center supporting journalists covering Hajj, in the Makkah Chamber Exhibition and Events Center. It showcased advanced technologies for water desalination, storage, transportation and treatment, along with smart operations and sustainability solutions, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

GASTAT Reports 13.4% Growth in Non-Oil Exports in Q1 2025, 10.7% Increase in March
The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has released its International Trade Statistics bulletin for March 2025 and the first quarter of the year (Q1 2025), highlighting continued momentum in Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports. According to the report, non-oil exports—including re-exports—rose by 13.4% in Q1 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. In March 2025 alone, non-oil exports were up by 10.7% year-on-year, reinforcing the growing contribution of non-oil sectors to the Kingdom's international trade. In contrast, total merchandise exports declined by 3.2% in Q1 and by 9.8% in March, compared to the same periods in 2024. Merchandise imports saw an upward trend, increasing by 7.3% in Q1 2025 and by 0.1% in March year-on-year. Despite this, the trade balance surplus narrowed—falling by 28% in Q1 and 34.2% in March. The ratio of non-oil exports to imports improved, reaching 36.2% in Q1 2025 (up from 34.3% in Q1 2024) and 36.5% in March (up from 33% in March 2024). Meanwhile, the share of oil exports in total merchandise exports declined to 71.8% in Q1 2025 from 75.9% the previous year, and to 71.2% in March, down from 76.5% in March 2024. Moreover, chemical products led non-oil exports, making up 23.8% of the total in Q1 and 25.7% in March 2025. On the import side, machinery, electrical equipment, and parts were the most significant, accounting for 25.8% in Q1 and 26.1% in March. China, Saudi Arabia China remained Saudi Arabia's top trading partner, representing 15.7% of total exports and 26.6% of imports in Q1 2025. In March. Additionally, China's share stood at 15.5% of exports and 25.3% of imports. GASTAT noted that the international trade data are compiled using administrative records from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority for non-oil figures, and from the Ministry of Energy for oil-related data.
