ITV axe beloved host's big TV return after just one series amid channel's cash crisis and poor viewing figures
Sources close to the host confirmed his disappointment but insisted other major factors were behind the decision SHOW CANNED ITV axe beloved host's big TV return after just one series amid channel's cash crisis and poor viewing figures NOEL EDMONDS' latest TV comeback has hit the skids as ITV has axed his Kiwi Adventure series. I can reveal the former Deal Or No Deal and Noel's House Party host was hoping the initial three-parter, which followed his new life in New Zealand with wife Liz, would become a fixture on the channel. 5 Noel Edmonds' Kiwi Adventure has been axed by ITV Credit: PA But the broadcaster has no plans to make further episodes as ratings didn't hit the levels required. A TV insider said: 'It's a blow to Noel as he was convinced he was on to a winning idea. 'There was a great buzz around the series and it was well received by both viewers and critics alike. 'But it needed big numbers to spark a follow-up and attracting 1-1.5million per episode just wasn't enough.' Noel Edmonds' Kiwi Adventure, which aired in June, followed the veteran star's bid to turn his River Haven estate, which features a vineyard, pub and wellness centre, into a success and win over locals in the area. The series, which was compared to Prime Video hit Clarkson's Farm, also focused on Noel's quirky side, including his fascination with crystal healing. Sources close to Noel confirmed his disappointment but insisted other major factors were behind the decision — namely, the extreme weather. A source close to Noel told me: 'River Haven has been hit badly by flooding, it's made working on the estate almost impossible. 'That would have meant filming would have been seriously hampered.' They added: 'As far as Noel is concerned, the show has been put on ice.' Noel Edmonds' most bizarre moments - from 'dead parent' orbs and 'electro smog' to Candice the mannequin and bid to buy the BBC The show's axing comes seven years after Noel's last TV comeback attempt, when he starred in I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! He was the ITV show's big-name signing for 2018 but rather annoyingly, as far as ITV bosses were concerned, he was voted off first. He faced disappointment then and I'm sure he'll bounce back once again. BENN'S 'LUMP' JAB 5 Troy Deeney and Conor Benn face off in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins Credit: Pete Dadds / Channel 4 5 Troy and Conor slug it out in the Channel 4 series' traditional boxing match challenge Credit: Pete Dadds / Channel 4 BOXER CONOR BENN and ex-footballer Troy Deeney could have sold tickets for this punch-up. Viewers of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins are in for a treat when their fight is shown on Sunday night's episode. The bruisers slug it out in the Channel 4 series' traditional boxing match challenge and despite Conor being a pro fighter, former Watford star Troy gives as good as he gets and is gutted when he loses. Troy says: 'I'm bigger than him. I shouldn't be beating him, that's his game, right? "But I also wanted to show that, hey, I'm not scared of you and I'm ready for the challenge. "But what it did also show me is I got to a point where I get so angry and I go. I'm ready to go to places that I'm ready to lose it all over a fight, which is pathetic.' Conor added: 'I wanted to definitely let him know that just because you're a big lump, you know, I can still take your head off.' Charming… SOPH AND WILF TEAM UP 5 Former Politics Hub host Sophy Ridge and presenter Wilfred Frost are set to team up KAY BURLEY's replacement on Sky News Breakfast has finally been revealed. Former Politics Hub host Sophy Ridge and presenter Wilfred Frost will team up on a new breakfast programme in the autumn. Sophy was the lead presenter on the station's last UK election coverage while Wilfred, son of legendary broadcaster Sir David Frost, has been keeping the seat warm since Kay's departure earlier this year. Reports last month claimed under-fire BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty had talks about joining but Sky denied these were significant. A Sky insider said: 'Sophy's interviews are always sharp, calm and clear and Wilf brings a spark with his passion for business and global affairs. 'They have a natural rapport that will shine on screen.' The pair certainly have big shoes to fill. BACK WITH A BANG 5 Ben Mitchell and Stuart Highway are making their return to EastEnders BEN Mitchell and Stuart Highway are pictured for the first time making their return to EastEnders. I revealed last week Ricky Champ, who plays Stuart, is back in Albert Square to comfort brother Callum (Tony Clay) following the passing of their dad, Jonno. They're seen here attending his funeral along with Ben (Max Bowden), Callum's husband, who's on day release from prison. But given Callum has recently fallen for the charms of Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) while Ben's been locked up, the funeral is likely to play second fiddle to a good old-fashioned East End dust-up. Stuart's life away from Walford with wife Rainie is also exposed, as bosses tease the couple's move from Walford hasn't been plain sailing, which may be a surprise to viewers. After all, there aren't many more depressing places to live than Albert Square. STREAMING service ITVX has just launched the highly anticipated third series of the multi-award-winning comedy series Fisk. Created by and starring one of Australia's favourite comedians, Kitty Flanagan, it promises even more comedy gold than the first two smash hit seasons.
