Oman Sailing Championship brings together the best young sailors from across the nation
In total, 46 sailors from Oman Sail's sailing schools and many more from the United Arab Emirates will be taking part. The event comes at the end of a Summer Training Camp for the Omani team where sailors from the national teams have been enhancing their technical and tactical sailing in Ras Al Hadd under the guidance of specialist coaches. Over six weeks, the teams have worked to improve their fitness and conditioning by training on and off the water with the Oman National Sailing Championships and Mussanah Race Week firmly in mind.
Abdulaziz Al Shidi, Oman Sail's Acting Director of Sailing, said, 'The Oman Sailing Championship is a prestigious event in our sailing calendar. We are excited to see all of the talent from our sailing schools on show in one place and to welcome young sailors from the United Arab Emirates to join us. Oman has a close relationship to the sea, and this part of the coast between Sur and Ras Al Hadd is known for its traditional boat building. It is fitting that the next generation of Omani sailors have the chance to take to the water and show their skills here.'
Hashim Al Rashdi, Head Coach- Performance, added, 'This season we have witnessed impressive progress from all of our young sailors. This is a great chance to see this development first-hand and identify the next batch of sailors who could be capable of stepping up to the Oman national teams. We are always targeting personal and professional growth from our athletes, both as individuals and as sailors, and the chance to compete against their peers, build camaraderie within the team, and learn from each other, will be a huge long-term benefit to all participants.'
The Oman Sailing Championship is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Oman Maritime Sports Committee, and government entities in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The ASYAD Group will support Oman's ILCA teams at the event, continuing its vision and national efforts to develop sports, engage youth, and enhance community development.

Other Winners: Seeb Club Academy dominated the younger categories, winning three titles in U-10, U-12, and U-14 age groups – a performance widely praised by both fans and officials. Speaking at the conclusion, Dr. Al Ghassani praised the professionalism of the organization, crediting Muscat Media Group for delivering a high-quality event for the second consecutive year. Dhofar to host Oman's First International Arabian Horse Pageant Cup
Salalah: 'Dhofar International Arabian Horse Beauty Pageant 2025' will kick off tomorrow in the Wilayat of Mirbat, Governorate of Dhofar. The event will last from 20 to 22 August 2025. The championship is jointly organized by the Office of the Governor of Dhofar and Dhofar Tourism Company as part of a programme to boost Dhofar governorate's position as a leading destination for hosting international championships. The contest, now in its first international edition, leverages the success of the Dhofar National Arabian Horse Beauty Pageant 2025. This year, more than 50 purebred Arabian horses will feature in the contest in a manner that reflects the growing presence of Dhofar Governorate on the regional and international events map. Dhofar International Arabian Horse Pageant is accredited by the European Conference of Arabian Horse Organizations (ECAHO). It places Dhofar Governorate on the agenda of international championships set for Arabian horse beauty. It fulfills Dhofar governorate's aspirations to become a prominent hub for horse owners and breeders, as well as investors and international parties interested in equestrian sports. The championship also boasts a distinct cultural and tourism dimension as it coincides with the Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season—at a time the stunning natural scenery complements the beauty of purebred Arabian horses, ideally meeting the aspirations of equestrian enthusiasts. It is worth noting that the Wilayat of Mirbat was once a major centre for Arabian horse trade and export to other countries. Swiatek downs Paolini to capture maiden Cincinnati Open title
Cincinnati : Iga Swiatek outclassed Jasmine Paolini to secure her first-ever Cincinnati Open title on early Tuesday morning. In the title clash lasting one hour and 49 minutes, Swiatek emerged victorious by 7-5, 6-4, becoming the first-ever Poland player to secure a singles title at Cincinnati. She has secured six victories over Paolini in as many meetings and dropped just one set against the Italian. This marks Swiatek's 24th tour-level title and 11th on the WTA 1000 level. The six-time Grand Slam winner, who won Wimbledon this year, has been on a rampage, not dropping a single set during this whole championship campaign in Cincinnati. This win also marks Swiatek's second title of the season, helping her head to the US Open as a number two seed in the singles competition. She will also play Casper Ruud in the mixed doubles competition. Speaking after her win, as quoted by the WTA's official website, Swiatek said, "I do not know why I win the tournaments that we are like the last ones in terms of what I thought they were going to be. So, thank you to my team for forcing me to become a better player and learn how to play on all these faster surfaces." "I am kind of shocked and super happy, so thank you for the awesome support, to the team and to my family back home," she added. Swiatek did not drop even a single set to the title, and her run includes wins over top 10 talent like Paolini and against Elena Rybakina in the semifinal. Since 1990, her winning percentage against WTA Top 10 players trails only Steffi Graf and Serena Williams. While Paolini continued her poor run against Swiatek and sustained her second loss in the finals, her performance was an encouraging one, as heading into the tournament, Paolini had won just three matches in her past four tournaments.
