CA Rudramurthy BV on crucial Nifty levels to watch; 2 stocks to buy

Economic Times6 days ago

CA Rudramurthy BV, MD, Vachana Investments, says the crucial level to watch in Nifty is 24,500 which is a very strong support and on the higher side, 25,200 is acting as resistance. Tata Motors looks very strong. The stock has given a clear breakout above 700 zone and is showing patterns of accumulation. Rudramurthy said he would be buying Tata Motors stock available in Futures, look at initial target of Rs 780- 800 and keep a stop loss of Rs 700 on closing basis. RBL Bank is another stock which looks very strong at Rs 180-190, a lot of strong hands have accumulated the stock. Rs 250 will be my initial target, stock available in Futures. One can go long and have a stop loss of Rs 200 for RBL Bank. So, he has a buy on Tata Motor and on RBL Bank.
I remember your super bullish stance on the benchmark indices in the month gone by. But before we start the new series, give us some sense of how the data is shaping up and what is your outlook.
CA Rudramurthy BV: My very bullish stance worked out. You saw a thousand point move in Nifty in no time. I am now being very cautious for a very short time. Let me tell you why. If you see the market has repeatedly tested, in fact five times, it has tested the 25,100 to 25,200 level on Nifty Future and for some time it is hard now for markets to break that level. So, having seen this big 1,200 points recovery, we were at levels closer to the 23,900 when we had the geopolitical tension, India-Pakistan – the escalations and de-escalations which were happening around and I was putting that bold call that yes, market will go to 25,000 + and we saw markets going there.
Now, for me the crucial level to watch in Nifty is 24,500 which is a very strong support and on the higher side, 25,200 is acting as resistance. So, give that 100 points plus or minus, and around 25,400, 25,500, you have a strong support and resistance is at 25,100, 25,200. I feel the market will now see some amount of time-wise consolidation and for a medium to longer time frame, more the time we spend in this range, it is good and healthy for a longer time frame. Similarly, if you see Bank Nifty, strong support is at 54,700 and multiple times we have seen resistance at 56,000. For me, Bank Nifty is in that range of 54,700-56,000 and Nifty is in that range of 24,400 to 25,200. Markets will be more sector specific and stock specific and it will spend some time in this range which is good for a longer time frame.
You were just mentioning that the market is soon going to be a sector specific as well as stock specific market. So, talking about sectors, do you see any sectoral churns at play at this point in time? Which sectors do you feel are showing momentum on the charts?
CA Rudramurthy BV: Earlier I was very bullish on private banks and you had a lot of valuation comfort and these stocks did well even during that October to March period last year when markets were not doing well whether it was HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and you have already seen the move and I was very bullish, super bullish, on private bank.
Even now, if you have a larger time frame of at least one year plus, I will still say private banks will be my top pick. Financials will do good. Look at HDFC Bank, look at ICICI Bank, even at current market price, there is still value left. However, if I have to look at even margin of safety and at current market price, if I have to buy some stocks, yes, I will look at technology, IT as a sector, look at charts of Wipro, look at even stocks like Tech Mahindra, Coforge, you have to be very stock specific and selective even within the IT basket. So, for me, it is a choice. Look at Wipro, look at Tech Mahindra, look at Coforge, they all look very good and at current market price the margin of safety is very good to enter at current market price and hold on and you will make good money in it and specifically in stocks like Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and Coforge which I like a lot. For me, even PSU as a theme has more comfort at current market price. So, if you have to select from PSUs, for me defence is a must area where one has to have a portfolio there and in your portfolio you cannot miss stocks like HAL, you cannot miss stocks like BEL, so defence for me is another area from PSU basket which will do very good. You can even pick stocks from railway, shipping whether it is Cochin Shipyard or Mazagon Dock or even from rail if you have to pick stocks you have RVNL, you have stocks like IRCTC also so which can do good. Titagarh Wagon is another great stock. So, you have to be in PSUs right now. Whether you want to pick from defence stocks like HAL, BEL, shipping, or railway, these will do good. And even for me power as a theme, as a sector can do good. And even there if you want to pick up stocks from PSU, matter of choice, you can even look at charts of PFC and REC looking very-very attractive at current market price. These power finance companies can do good and even if you see charts of NTPC, charts of Tata Power, Power Grid they all look very-very good at current market price. So, I will be very sector specific and stock specific at current market price and for me even stock like IndiGo, you should not miss. After this promoter stake sale, IndiGo is available to you today closer to that 5,200, 5,300 level, mouthwatering price to buy IndiGo at current market price. Similarly, for me, Paytm is another stock specific call at current market price. Concor is another PSU which you can pick and have in your basket. So, a lot of ideas I am giving are both sector specific and stock specific. They all look very good to me.
But specifically, if you can highlight two counters which are the tradable ideas right now with the stop losses and the target price as well.
CA Rudramurthy BV: For me, Tata Motors looks very strong. The stock has given a clear breakout above 700 zone and it is showing patterns of accumulation. I will be buying Tata Motors stock available in future, look at initial target of 780 to 800 and keep a stop loss of 700 on closing basis. RBL Bank is another stock which looks very strong, 180, 190, a lot of strong hands have accumulated the stock. 250 will be my initial target, stock available in futures, one can definitely go long and have a stop loss of 200 for RBL Bank. So, a buy on Tata Motor and on RBL Bank.

Stock market today: Trade setup for Nifty 50 to US dollar; 8 stocks to buy or sell on Wednesday — 4 June 2025

Stock market today: The Indian stock market crashed on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, due to weak global cues and rising concerns over stretched valuations and foreign capital outflow. The Nifty 50 index closed 0.70 per cent lower at 24,542.50 points, compared to 24,716.60 points at the previous market session. The BSE Sensex closed 0.78 per cent lower at 80,737.51 points, compared to 81,373.75 points at the previous stock market session. Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research at Kotak Securities, said, 'Today, the benchmark indices witnessed profit booking at higher levels. The Nifty ended 174 points lower, while the Sensex was down by 636 points. Among sectors, the Private Bank index lost the most, shedding 1.25 per cent, whereas despite the weak market sentiment, the Reality and Defence indices outperformed, rallying over 1 per cent.' 'Technically, after a positive open, the market slipped below the 20-day SMA (Simple Moving Average) or 24,700/81,300, and thereafter, selling pressure intensified. On daily charts, a long bearish candle has formed, and on intraday charts, a lower top formation is holding, which is largely negative,' said the stock market expert. 'We believe that the intraday market texture is weak, but a fresh sell-off is possible only if the level of 24,450/80,500 is breached. Below this, the index could decline to 24,320–24,300/80,100-80,000. On the upside, if the index moves above 24,600/81,000, a quick pullback rally towards the 20-day SMA or 24,700/81,300 could occur. Further upside may also continue, potentially lifting the market up to 24,760/81,500,' said Chouhan. The United States Dollar Index Spot was trading 0.53 per cent higher at 99.226 as of 1:16 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, according to the Bloomberg Dollar Index. According to a Reuters report, the US Dollar gained as gold dropped due to pressure from a firmer dollar. Investors became cautious ahead of a potential call between U.S. President Donald Trump and China's Xi Jinping. Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking, has recommended two stock picks for today. Ganesh Dongre, Senior Manager of Technical Research at Anand Rathi, has suggested three stocks for Wednesday. Shiju Kuthupalakkal, Senior Manager of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher, also recommended three stocks for 3 June 2025. These include Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers, BSE, Bajaj Finserv, PB Fintech, Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals, Ideaforge Technology, Graphite India, and Kaveri Seed Company. 1. Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. (RCF): Buy at ₹ 160.32; Target Price at ₹ 173; Stop Loss at ₹ 154. RCF is currently trading at ₹ 160.32 and continues to exhibit a strong upward trajectory, characterized by a consistent formation of higher highs and higher lows—an indication of sustained bullish momentum. The stock has recently broken above a key resistance level at ₹ 160, reinforcing the continuation of its uptrend. This breakout may attract increased buying interest and could accelerate the ongoing momentum. From a technical standpoint, RCF is trading above its 20, 50, 100, and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), all of which are trending upwards. This alignment confirms underlying strength and further supports the prevailing bullish sentiment. A sustained move above the ₹ 165 resistance zone may pave the way for a short-term rally toward the next target of ₹ 173. On the downside, immediate support is seen at ₹ 157, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 68.75 and is rising—indicating strengthening buying momentum without yet entering overbought territory. To manage risk effectively, a stop-loss is recommended at ₹ 154 to protect against potential reversals. In summary, RCF presents a technically strong buying opportunity, supported by positive price structure and momentum indicators. However, traders are advised to implement strict risk management strategies and monitor price action closely near the ₹ 165 level for confirmation of further upside potential. 2. BSE Ltd. (BSE): Buy at ₹ 2,764.9; Target Price at ₹ 2,986; Stop Loss at ₹ 2,668. BSE is currently trading at 2,764.9, maintaining a strong upward trajectory. The stock has consistently formed higher highs and higher lows, reflecting sustained bullish momentum. It recently reached its all-time higher levels of 2,787.8. A breakout above this levels could further accelerate buying interest. The Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) for the 20, 50, 100, and 200-day periods are all trending upwards, reinforcing the bullish outlook. The price is trading above all major EMAs, indicating strong positive sentiment and continued strength in the stock. If BSE manages to close above its level, it could gain further traction toward a short-term target of 2,986. Traders should monitor price action around this resistance zone for confirmation of a breakout. On the downside, immediate support is located at 2,720. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently at 74.49 and trending upward, reflecting growing buying momentum. To manage risk effectively, a stop-loss at 2,668 is suggested to guard against any unexpected market reversals. In conclusion, based on the technical analysis and current market conditions, BSE presents a promising buying opportunity for those aiming for a 2,986 target, provided that appropriate risk management strategies are in place. 3. Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (BAJAJFINSV): Buy at ₹ 1,992; Target Price at ₹ 2,100; Stop Loss at ₹ 1,950. In the latest short-term technical analysis, stock has shown a strong and consistent bullish trend, indicating the potential for an extended upward move. The stock is currently trading at ₹ 1,992 and holding above a key support level at ₹ 1,950. This support zone serves as a critical point for risk management. Given the bullish momentum, traders are advised to consider a buying opportunity with a stop-loss placed strategically at ₹ 1,950 to manage downside risk. The target for this trade is set at ₹ 2,100, suggesting a favorable risk-to-reward ratio and a continuation of the prevailing upward trend. (POLICYBZR): Buy at ₹ 1,740; Target Price at ₹ 1,800; Stop Loss at ₹ 1,710. Stock has exhibited a strong notable continue bullish pattern, offering another promising opportunity for short-term traders. The stock is currently priced at ₹ 1,740 and maintaining a strong support at ₹ 1,710. The technical setup indicates the potential for a price retracement towards the ₹ 1,800 level. With the stock reversing from a support base and showing signs of renewed strength, entering at the current market price with a stop-loss at ₹ 1,710 offers a prudent approach to capturing the anticipated upside. 5. Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals Ltd. (CHAMBLFERT): Buy at ₹ 562; Target Price at ₹ 590; Stop Loss at ₹ 550. Stock is currently trading at ₹ 562 and appears to be in bullish zone for short term. A bullish reversal pattern has emerged on the daily chart, indicating a potential upmove. The critical support level lies at ₹ 550, which also acts as a key stop-loss point for this trade. With bullish cues signaling a possible retracement towards the ₹ 590 target, this setup provides a favorable entry opportunity for traders looking to capitalize on a technical rebound. 6. Ideaforge Technology Ltd. (IDEAFORGE): Buy at ₹ 561; Target Price at ₹ 600; Stop Loss at ₹ 548. The stock has once again gained strength with a positive candle formation moving past the 200 period MA at 542 level and with overall trend maintained strong, we anticipate further rise in the coming sessions with volume participation also indicating a significant rise. The RSI has corrected from the highly overbought zone and currently is well placed to anticipate for another fresh round of momentum to carry on with the positive move further ahead. With the chart technically looking good, we suggest buying the stock for an upside target of 600 keeping the stop loss of 548 level. 7. Graphite India Ltd. The RSI is currently well positioned and has strength to anticipate for further upward move in the coming sessions. With the chart technically well positioned, we suggest buying the stock for an upside target of 590 level keeping the stop loss of 542 level. 8. Kaveri Seed Company Ltd. (KSCL): Buy at ₹ 1,455; Target Price at ₹ 1,520; Stop Loss at ₹ 1,425. The stock has been consolidating with a little dip witnessed in the last 3-4 sessions, with currently improving the bias with a positive candle formation and significant volume participation indicated and can anticipate for further rise in the coming sessions. The RSI is better placed and with a revival indicated has shown strength with much upside potential visible from current rate. With the chart technically looking attractive, we suggest buying the stock for an upside target of 1,520 level keeping the stop lossof1,425level. Best stocks to buy today: Expert Raja Venkatraman's recommendations for 4 June

Indian stock market suffered significant losses on Tuesday tracking weak global cues and amid growing concerns over stretched valuations and foreign capital outflow. The Sensex closed 636 points, or 0.78 per cent, lower at 80,737.51, while the Nifty 50 settled at 24,542.50, down 174 points, or 0.70 per cent, extending losses to the third consecutive session. Here are three stocks to buy or sell as recommended by Raja Venkatraman of NeoTrader NFL: Buy (Cmp ₹107.32) Buy COCHINSHIP: (Cmp 2034.70) Also Read: Lemon Tree's earnings bloom in FY25—now it must trim the debt Buy TCIEXP (Cmp ₹805.35) Also Read: Cummins India is upbeat after exports boosted Q4. But competition's heating up. Stock Market Recap In a turbulent trading session on Tuesday, the market participants witnessed a deepening of bearish sentiment. The day was marked by significant pressure across major equity benchmarks, with the Nifty 50 falling short of the critical 24,550 level—a clear signal of the mounting caution in the market. The broader Sensex echoed this downturn by retreating 636.24 points, equivalent to a loss of 0.78 percent, closing at 80,737.51. Similarly, the Nifty index fell by 174.10 points, or 0.70 percent, reflecting the widespread sell-off that permeated the session. Meanwhile, among the cross-section of indices, the BSE Midcap index slipped by around 0.5 percent, and the smallcap index managed to hold steady despite the prevailing market pressures. Notably, the Nifty Bank index, despite reaching an extraordinary record high of 56,161 in prior trading, reversed course later in the day, underscoring the volatility that gripped the market. Outlook for Trading After testing our patience for the last few days the Nifty finally gave up as the overall sentiment continues to favour the sellers. In the last report we had mentioned 'momentums on hourly charts are indicating that the prices after settling down seems to have witnessed a resumption of selling pressure". Markets moved very much in line to head lower as the trends could not muster enough momentum. One the charts we note that the median line has been broken and potential to move lower has now opened. Taking some cues from the Option data, we can add that the higher levels around 24600 to 24800 are having steady Call writers and the lower side remains open with some meaningful Put writing at 24000 highlights that if the selling steps up the potential to move towards 24000 emerges as the gap support also exists at that zone. The trend that is emerging clearly suggests that the rally seen last week was a holding the resistance zone and the gap up opening ensured that the prices traded above the range area that developed in the last few days. Hence , one should track the trends that are in progress as upmove needs to continue their way above 25000 (Nifty Spot)to renew the bullish bias. Momentums on hourly charts are indicating that the prices after settling down seems to have witnessed a resumption of selling pressure. With the gradual and hesitant rise emerging from lower levels we can expect the rise to remain hesitant. For undertaking shorts, we need to see Nifty move below 24500 which is the immediate support for a drop to 24200 and 24050 as per the Open Interest data. If we witness a 30-minute range breakdown on Wednesday we can consider to trade on either side as the trends still remain tentative where we expect some resistances to kick in. Clearly there is an absence of trends in the indices while the stock specific action continues. Raja Venkatraman is co-founder, NeoTrader.
