Deal of the Day: Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro earbuds are at their lowest price ever

NBC News02-06-2025
If you have an Android phone in your pocket, there are a lot of great wireless earbuds on the market to choose from. But if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are one the best options, and they are currently on sale at the lowest price we've ever seen — you can grab them for less than $190.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are the brand's premium wireless earbuds. They are comfortable and sound excellent, similar to other earbuds like the Apple AirPods Pro 2 and Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, in my experience. They stand out with stylish design touches like a slightly transparent case and subtle lights on the earbuds themselves. They are also IP57 dust and water resistant — that's a much higher rating than Apple AirPods (IPX4) and Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 (IP54).
Battery life is just okay at six hours with noise-cancelling on, seven with it off. The charging case brings the total up to 26 hours.

After being discounted from its original £1559 price to around £1,200 for several months, Amazon has just knocked 47% off and it can now be bought for £849 - but that's not the best bit. Because, for a limited time, you'll also get a free XGimi floor stand, designed specifically to fit the Horizon Ultra, saving a further £179. This means you're saving nearly £900 overall on a home cinema bundle that will elevate your evenings in front of Netflix to a different stratosphere. The immersive cinema experience is just the start - Android and Chromecast give you access to all the major apps | Amazon The XGimi Horizon Ultra was the world's first 4K long-throw projector with Dolby Vision when it was launched, and it's still one of the most impressive smart projectors out there. Its dual light technology gives it 2,300 ISO lumens, which is bright enough to make colours pop in any lighting condition, and its intelligent screen adaptation figures out all your visual settings for you, keeping the image quality at an optimum in any environment. It comes with Android and Chromecast baked in, so you can access all the key audio and visual apps, and it connects to your home WiFi, or you can plug in peripherals such as PCs or gaming consoles. The stylish stand usually costs £179 - but it's a free gift for a limited time only | Amazon A pair of built-in 12w Harmon/Kardon speakers gives it an immersive sound, and you can link it up to your own sound system to enhance it further. The Horizon Ultra can project images out to a 200" screen, and it can be mounted on a wall, ceiling, or on its aluminium stand - which is height adjustable, and designed to suit the style of the projector. Accessing the deal and ensuring you get the free stand is a little complicated, but on this deal page, make sure you click on the 'how to claim' link before adding anything to your basket, and then follow the instructions. This is a limited-time deal, and Amazon hasn't said how many are in stock, so if you're keen on developing your home entertainment setup, now's your chance. Tech experts issue 'juice jacking' warning to never share your phone charger

While asking for a charger from a stranger may seem harmless, it might be something you regret. Technology experts are warning the public against ever accepting a phone charging cable from a stranger. While it may seem a harmless and generous gesture for someone to offer you a charger when you're low on juice, it may actually put your personal information and data at risk. Malicious charging cables are a fast-growing threat facing mobile users, according to security professionals, and it's one that many of us aren't aware of. Known as 'juice jacking', hackers can steal everything from your passwords to your personal photos and information using cables that look identical to legitimate phone chargers. While tampered public charging stations were already a commonly known tech threat, fraudsters have now evolved to target vulnerable individuals with low phone charge when they're out in public. Criminals are creating cables that look identical to genuine Apple or Android products but contain hidden computer chips capable of logging keystrokes, stealing credentials, and even providing remote access to your device. A tech expert from Outplayed explains: "The sophistication of these attacks has reached a truly alarming level. "There's been a massive increase in these cables that are virtually indistinguishable from legitimate Apple products, yet they're essentially miniature computers designed to harvest your data." The USB technology that powers your gadget is also responsible for handling data transfer in your device, which hackers can exploit. When you plug into a malicious cable, it can automatically access your device's contents, often bypassing the security prompts that would normally alert you to data transfer attempts, explained the expert. And that's not all. Recent developments have made these cyber attacks even more dangerous through 'choice jacking' techniques, which can actually confirm data transfer permissions on your behalf without any user interaction. This means even built-in security measures can be dodged by sophisticated malicious hardware used by the cyber crooks. The expert adds: "What makes this particularly concerning is that these cables function perfectly as chargers. "Victims often have no idea they've been compromised until it's too late. The cable charges your phone normally while secretly communicating with attackers over Wi-Fi in the background." It's vital to remain vigilant, as these attacks can happen anywhere– from borrowing a cable at work to using one offered by a well-meaning friend at a coffee shop. Some malicious cables can even simulate keyboard inputs, effectively typing commands into your phone without your knowledge. The security professionals advise phone owners to always use their own charging cable and adapter, especially in public spaces like airports or hotels. If you must charge in public, stick to wall outlets with your own equipment rather than USB charging stations. For added security, consider investing in a USB data blocker - a cheap adapter that physically prevents data transfer while allowing charging current to flow. These small devices create a barrier between your phone and potentially malicious cables. If you're looking to invest in one, there are plenty of options, such as this ' anti-juice jacker ' on Amazon for a tenner, or this one on Currys for £3.99. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! This Wowcher deal will open shoppers up to a 'Galaxy of possibilities'. While tech companies continue to release new smartphones with the latest features and fastest chips, many of these devices aren't affordable for the everyday buyer. As a result, many people are turning to older and refurbished models that cost a fraction of the price. Buying refurbished tech is also better for the planet and it means that less phones are ending up in landfills, as they have been worked on by experts to bring them back to their out of box quality. If shoppers don't mind a little bit of cosmetic wear, then a refurbished smartphone may be an ideal choice for the future. For fans of Android, Wowcher currently has a cracking deal on the Samsung Galaxy S10, which was released in 2019. Normally priced at £225, shoppers can now snap it up for £135 - saving £80 in your bank account. For shoppers who are fans of Apple, Amazon has slightly reduced the price of the new iPhone 16e with 128GB of storage. Dropped down from £599 to £544, shoppers can buy the phone in either black or white. Shoppers will also be able to get up to 26 hours of playback when they splurge on this flagship smartphone. While Wowcher doesn't have any reviews for the Samsung Galaxy S10, many customers have raved over their experience with Wowcher - which currently has a 4.3 star rating on Trustpilot. One five-star reviewer said: "Easy to order, redeem voucher and arrange delivery. Good price. Fingers crossed we are happy with the product on arrival. So far so good." With another adding: "All went smoothly I had no issues and was happy to get such a good deal." However, one shopper did grumble: "Would have been five stars if website didn't keep popping up with how long I had to check out every time I added a bit info or clicked on payment method." While another customer wrote: "Website is really hard to understand and it doesn't really explain about vouchers." Despite this, a top reviewer added: "I had an issue with postage not being clear.
