J-K govt bans 25 books for propagating false narrative, secessionism
The Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday declared the publication of 25 books, including those written by famous authors like Moulana Moudadi, Arundhati Roy, A G Noorani, Victoria Schofield and David Devadas, as forfeited for "promoting false narratives and glorifying terrorism". "It has come to the notice of the Government, that certain literature propagates false narrative and secessionism in the Jammu and Kashmir," an order issued by the Home Department said. It said available evidence based on investigations and credible intelligence "unflinchingly indicate" that a significant driver behind youth participation in violence and terrorism has been the "systematic dissemination of false narratives and secessionist literature by its persistent internal circulation, often disguised as historical or political commentary". It plays a critical role in "misguiding the youth, glorifying terrorism and inciting violence" against India, the order said. It said this literature would deeply impact the psyche of youth by "promoting culture of grievance, victim hood and terrorist heroism". "Some of the means by which this literature has contributed to the radicalization of youth in J&K include distortion of historical facts, glorification of terrorists, vilification of security forces, religious radicalization, promotion of alienation, pathway to violence and terrorism etc," it added. In this context, 25 books have been identified that propagate "false narrative and secessionism" in J&K and need to be declared as "forfeited" in terms of Section 98 of Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, the order said. The identified 25 books have been found to "excite secessionism and endangering sovereignty and integrity of India", thereby, attracting the provisions of sections 152, 196 and 197 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, it said. "Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 98 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, the government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby declares publication of 25 books and their copies or other documents to be forfeited to the Government," the order said. The books include 'Al Jihadul fil Islam' by Islamic scholar and founder of Jamaat-e-Islami, Moulana Moudadi, 'Independent Kashmir' by Australian author Christopher Snedden, 'In Search of a Future (The Story of Kasimir)' by David Devadas, 'Kashmir in Conflict (India, Pakistan and the unending War)' by Victoria Schofield, 'The Kashmir Dispute (1947-2012)' by A G Noorani, and 'Azadi' by Arundhati Roy.

Maharashtra govt sanctions funds to acquire rovers for land survey
Agency: PTI Mumbai, Aug 6 (PTI) The Maharashtra government on Wednesday approved a Rs 1,732 crore plan to modernize land survey operations and strengthen the infrastructure of the revenue and land records departments. As part of the plan, Rs 132 crore will be allocated for the purchase of 1,200 advanced rovers for speedy land measurement under the e-Survey 2.0 project. Additionally, Rs 1,600 crore has been sanctioned for new office buildings and residential quarters for revenue officials, said a statement issued by revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule's office. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar at the state secretariat. Bawankule, who proposed the upgradation, said the new rovers would significantly accelerate land survey operations. The government intends to procure 4,000 rovers and the first batch of 1,200 will be acquired immediately. The rovers will help deliver digital 'C' copies of land maps to citizens in a timely manner, the statement said. Bawankule also highlighted the need for high-performance vehicles for district collectors, deputy collectors and tehsildars, especially to aid in effective action against sand mafias. He also recommended that land records offices be located close to collectorates to streamline operations. Pawar approved Rs 1,500 crore for new revenue offices and an additional Rs 100 crore for land records department facilities. He also directed that the procurement process for rovers begin immediately. With the implementation of e-Survey 2.0 across Maharashtra, land survey maps ('C' copies) are now being provided to citizens in a digital form. The addition of 1,200 rovers in the first phase will help boost the pace and accuracy of this work, the release said. Instructions were also issued to complete the pending Registration Bhavan project in Pune within the current month, it said. Gujarat ATS tracks Shama Parveen's push for Ghazwa-e-Hind via online jihad propaganda
AHMEDABAD: In a chilling development linked to the 23 July terror arrests, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has revealed that Shama Parveen, the alleged Al-Qaeda handler arrested from Bengaluru on 30 July, was actively pushing provocative content online. Her posts allegedly glorified Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and called for an armed uprising against Hindus and Indian democracy. The ATS also found disturbing videos allegedly targeting the RSS, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the United States, alongside visuals of demolitions in Gujarat. Parveen is currently in 14-day custody as the investigation deepens. The ATS probe, which began with the 23 July arrest of four radicalised men from Ahmedabad, Modasa, Delhi, and Noida, has now zeroed in on Shama Parveen, allegedly the digital handler of the module. Originally from Jharkhand and residing in Bengaluru's Hebbal area with her brother, Parveen had been operating multiple social media handles to allegedly peddle Al-Qaeda's extremist narrative. Through both encrypted platforms and open posts under aliases such as Strangers of the Nation, she allegedly praised Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, called for an armed revolution against Hindus, and promoted the Ghazwa-e-Hind ideology, a radical dream of Islamic conquest of India.
