GreenLine, Bekaert partner to drive sustainable logistics with LNG trucks
The partnership was flagged off with the deployment of GreenLine's LNG-powered trucks at Bekaert's Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra, marking the beginning of a pilot phase, the company said in a statement.
The pilot phase aims to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of Bekaert's logistics operations.
The partnership will support India's vision of a gas-based economy, the statement said.
Each GreenLine LNG truck is expected to reduce up to 24 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, contributing to Bekaert's ambition of becoming carbon net-zero by 2050 and achieving 65 per cent of sales from sustainable solutions.
"At GreenLine, we are proud to offeran integrated ecosystem - from LNG refuelling to real-time telematics - that empowers our partners to make meaningful progress on their net-zero goals," Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, said.

Vehicles without a FASTag will no longer be allowed to enter Tirumala, temple management says
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the Sri Venkateswara temple in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district, said that vehicles without a FASTag will no longer be allowed to enter Tirumala. Officials said the TTD is also considering allowing only electric vehicles entry into Tirumala in the future. Thousands of devotees visit Tirumala every day in private vehicles and taxis. 'Many individual car owners driving up to Tirumala may not have a FASTag for various reasons. We are issuing an advisory that they should get it before coming to Tirumala. If they do not have it, they should take the help of the facility at Alipiri,' an official said. The TTD said, 'In order to provide better safety standards, prevention of overcrowding and transparent services to the devotees arriving in various vehicles at the Alipiri check point, FASTag will be made mandatory for the vehicles entering Tirumala from August 15.' A facility that issues FASTags have been set up at the Alipiri checkpoint in collaboration with ICICI Bank, officials said. 'It is once again informed that the vehicles without FASTag will be allowed to enter Tirumala only after obtaining the FASTag facility here in the shortest possible time. Devotees are requested to cooperate, or they will not be allowed to enter Tirumala,' the TTD said. The announcement comes as the temple is witnessing over 90,000 devotees on some days, with the TTD finding it difficult not only to manage the pilgrims, but also the incoming traffic. The TTD is also preparing to implement stricter pollution control rules, and allow only battery-operated vehicles into Tirumala. The TTD is encouraging taxi operators to switch to EVs. On Tuesday, a devotee from Bengaluru, Chandra Shekhar, donated two battery buggies worth Rs 11 lakh to the TTD. The board, which has set up some EV charging stations, is in the process of setting up more, officials said. The TTD and the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation are also switching to operating only electric buses to and from Tirumala and Tirupati. In efforts to achieve net zero emissions, the TTD is also allocating its lands at Tirumala and Tirupati to organisations like the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh for the establishment of EV charging stations and battery swapping stations.

Avendus, SBI Life pick up over 2.5% secondaries in Aragen for Rs 300 crore
BENGALURU: Avendus Future Leaders Fund (FLF) III, part of the Avendus Group, and SBI Life Insurance have co-led a Rs 300 crore investment in Hyderabad-headquartered contract research, development and manufacturing organisation (CRDMO) Aragen Life Sciences. The fully secondary deal involves the two investors acquiring over 2.5% from the GVK Group's Reddy family's stake in Aragen, Ritesh Chandra, managing partner at Avendus Future Leaders Fund, told TOI. The transaction marks FLF III's second investment after La Renon Healthcare earlier this year. It gives both investors exposure to a sector positioned to benefit from global pharmaceutical companies diversifying R&D and manufacturing away from China, particularly in novel drug development. 'We are very bullish on the CRDMO space given the strong tailwinds as innovator pharma companies increasingly look to India for drug research and discovery,' Chandra told TOI. He added Aragen's scale, client base, and dual capability in small molecules and biologics made it a differentiated bet. 'We don't typically compete for deals, we prefer to work synergistically with the ecosystem and take nimble, minority positions three to four years before a potential liquidity event. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Egypt: Unsold Sofas at Bargain Prices (Prices May Surprise You) Sofas | Search Ads Search Now Undo ' Founded in 2001 Aragen, formerly GVK Biosciences, works exclusively on innovative pharmaceuticals, from early discovery to commercial manufacturing, and does not operate in generics. 'We are one of the few fully integrated players in India that can go from concept to commercial, and among the very few that can do both small molecules and biologics,' Manni Kantipudi, CEO of Aragen Life Sciences, told TOI. The company's new biologics manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, with an initial 2,000-litre single-use bioreactor capacity (expandable to 23,000 litres), began operations this month. A high potent manufacturing unit in Hyderabad, due in October, will enable production of antibody-drug conjugates, mainly for oncology. 'This capability puts us among a select group in India able to make such targeted therapies,' Kantipudi told TOI. About 50% of Aragen's revenue comes from drug discovery research, 20-25% from early development and the rest from manufacturing. The US accounts for 65% of its business, followed by Europe at 25%. 'Of the top 10 selling drugs globally, six are biologics. Small molecules remain a mainstay, but biologics offer higher efficacy, greater barriers to entry, and are a growing share of pharma pipelines,' Kantipudi added. Chandra said FLF III's average hold period is three to three-and-a-half years, with fund life capped at six years. The Aragen deal follows exits such as selling its stake in Juspay to Kedaara Capital and Lenskart to Fidelity. 'Fund sizes and ticket sizes have increased since our first fund in 2019, but the core strategy hasn't changed,' he said. Namma Metro crosses 10 lakh daily boardings after Yellow Line launch
: Namma Metro recorded its highest-ever single-day ridership on Monday, August 11, a day after the launch of the long-awaited Yellow Line. The milestone came as total boardings across all three operational lines touched 10,48,031 passengers. According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) data, the Purple Line (Line 1) carried 4,51,816 commuters, while the Green Line (Line 2) saw 2,91,677 boardings. The newly inaugurated Yellow Line (Line 3) registered 52,215 passengers on its first day of commercial operations. Additionally, 2,52,323 passengers used interchange stations. The previous highest daily ridership was recorded on June 4, when 9,66,732 people travelled by metro, at a time when only the Purple and Green lines covering 76.95 km were operational, said a senior BMRCL official. This came as large crowds gathered for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) victory celebrations that eventually ended in tragedy. 'With the Yellow Line now in service, expanding the network to 96 km, this is the highest number of passengers to have travelled by metro in a single day,' the official added. Officials attributed Monday's surge to the addition of the Yellow Line, which had been delayed for over four years before finally opening to the public. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the Yellow Line on Sunday. The 19.15-kilometre corridor, built under Phase 2 of the metro project at a cost of ₹7,160 crore, connects R.V. Road to Bommasandra, passing through key commercial and IT zones. The line includes 16 stations and links southern parts of the city to major employment hubs, aiming to significantly reduce road congestion. With the Yellow Line in service, Bengaluru's operational metro network has expanded to 96 km. BMRCL anticipates that the new stretch will benefit more than eight lakh commuters in South Bengaluru daily and push the city's overall metro ridership towards an estimated 12.5 lakh passengers per day.
