Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sánchez Made a Surprising Request to Guests in Their Wedding Invite

This week, one of the most lavish celebrity weddings is about to take place as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ties the knot with longtime partner Lauren Sánchez. Their wedding, which will take place in Venice, Italy, will surely be an over-the-top event, with A-listers from all over making an appearance.
But, ahead of the nuptials, one request from the bride and groom caught us by surprise.

In an early invite obtained by Good Morning America, Bezos and Sánchez specifically ask guests not to give them gifts. He is a billionaire after all, right?
'We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: please, no gifts,' the message says. 'Instead, we're making contributions in your honor and with gratitude to you for making the journey to celebrate with us in Venice.'
'Donations on your behalf are being made to the UNESCO Venice Office to safeguard this city's irreplaceable cultural heritage, to CORILA to restore the vital lagoon habitats that protect Venice's future, and to Venice International University to support research and education for sustainable solutions,' the invite continues.
'This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories,' the bride and groom added. 'Our hope is that through these efforts and by you joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come.'
In addition to the text, the invitation is decorated with illustrations of butterflies, birds, stars, Venetian gondolas and Venice's iconic bridge, the Ponte di Rialto, around the edges.
Online, X users have shared their thoughts on the invite. 'Was the invitation made in Microsoft Paint? 😭😭' one user joked. 'What a heartless invite,' another wrote. 'Seems like a business dinner for donors.'
'Just a very elegant way of saying: Yes, we had to bribe the municipality of Venice to host our extravaganza wedding in the middle of a UNESCO World Heritage site,' another X user wrote. 'But at least it's for the lagoon 🦋🎭✨.'
But their invite isn't the only source of pushback. In the past few days, the wedding has been the center of backlash due to their choice of venue in Venice. Given the city's small size and limited transportation, a major wedding of this size would cause a major disruption.
As a result, a movement, named No Space for Bezos, has ignited protests and threatened a blockage on canals around Grande Scuola Misericordia, which is where locals think their wedding party would take place, CNN reports. Following their threats, No Space for Bezos has claimed that Bezos and Sánchez have changed their wedding venue.
Per the outlet, locals are guessing that their wedding will be a three-day affair starting on June 26 with a welcome party, then an exchange of vows on the island of San Giorgio on June 27, and a major party on June 28. We'll stay tuned for what actually takes place instead.Best of SheKnows

How many children does Jeff Bezos have? Everyone in Bezos and Sánchez's blended family

All eyes are on billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who is getting ready to tie the knot with long-time fiancée Lauren Sánchez in a lavish ceremony in Venice, Italy. The grand wedding of the fourth-richest person in the world in Italy's historic city has caused consternation online and in Venice and even forced the couple to change venues last-minute. Celebrations for the wedding kicked off June 26 and a parade of stars, from Oprah Winfrey to the Kardashian-Jenners and Ivanka Trump were seen arriving in Venice for the event, reported to be spread over three days between June 26 and 28. Both Bezos, 61, and Sánchez, 55, were previously married to separate people and the upcoming nuptials mark their second marriages. The two, who have children from prior relationships and marriages, now share seven children between them. Sánchez, in a January 2023 interview, with the Wall Street Journal, referred to their blended family as "the Brady Bunch!" "On a typical Saturday, we hang out, we have dinner with the kids, which is always fun because you never know where the conversation is going to go with this many kids," she told the media outlet. Here's what to know about Bezos and Sánchez's blended family. Who are Jeff Bezos' parents? Bezos is the son of Jacklyn Bezos and Ted Jorgensen, who married when they were still teenagers. However, his biological father was never in the picture and Jacklyn's new husband Miguel Bezos adopted him, according to a 1999 Wired profile. "The reality, as far as I'm concerned, is that my Dad is my natural father," Bezos told the magazine. "The only time I ever think about it, genuinely, is when a doctor asks me to fill out a form." Miguel, who along with Jackie, were among the first investors in Amazon, putting in nearly $250,000, according to Bloomberg, was photographed arriving in Venice ahead of the wedding. Jorgensen, meanwhile, had no clue he was the biological father of Amazon billionaire until late 2012 when Brad Stone, a Bloomberg Businessweek reporter and author of "The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon" contacted him, USA TODAY previously reported. "I didn't know where he was, if he had a good job or not, or if he was alive or dead," Jorgensen reportedly told Stone. "I wasn't a good father or a good husband." People reported Jorgensen died in 2015. Who is Jeff Bezos' former wife? Bezos was previously married to influential philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, 55, who helped build Amazon in its early days. The two married in 1993 in Seattle and were married for 25 years before their divorce was finalized in 2019. Scott, the American Book Award winner, has gone on to write two novels and become a celebrated do-gooder, providing sizable contributions to educational and racial equity causes and quietly redefining modern philanthropy. Jeff Bezos divorce: How much money did MacKenzie Scott get? How many children does Jeff Bezos have? Bezos shares four children with former wife MacKenzie Scott: three sons and a daughter. The tech tycoon is notoriously private about his children, and little is known about them. Bezos has never publicly revealed the names or birth dates of his three younger kids, according to Today. The former couple's eldest child Preston made a rare appearance with his father at the American Portrait Gala at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in 2019. Today and People reported Bezos and Scott adopted their daughter from China, though it is not known when. Who did Lauren Sánchez previously date and marry? Sánchez was previously married to media giant Patrick Whitesell. The former couple were married from 2005 to 2019. Whitesell, 60, has since remarried. She was also in a relationship with former NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez, with whom she has a son. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Sánchez opened up about her coparenting relationship with Gonzalez, describing him and his wife, October, as two of her best friends. "Tony and his wife (October 'Tobie' Gonzalez) are my best friends," Sánchez told the newspaper. "It wasn't always that way. There was friction (at the beginning). But Tony and Tobie were at Thanksgiving with us (this year), and we're really good friends." The two are reportedly also set to attend Sánchez's nuptials with Bezos, according to People magazine. Lauren Sánchez's first husband: Who is Patrick Whitesell? How many children does Lauren Sánchez have? Lauren Sánchez has three children. She has two children with Whitesell: Evan Whitesell, born in 2006 and Ella Whitesell, born in 2008, according to People. She also has a son with Gonzalez, Nikko Gonzalez, 24. Lauren Sánchez's Pre-Wedding Look Was Impossibly Cinched

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." The wedding fashion rollout continues in Italy. On Friday, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and American journalist Lauren Sánchez will tie the knot in Venice, where the stars have already been showing up in full force to witness the nuptials, including the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Oprah, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, and more. Now, the bride-to-be has made her grand appearance for her welcome party, and in Schiaparelli couture, no less. The former Extra correspondent was seen stepping onto a boat with her fiancé, as the two prepared to dine with their wedding guests at the Madonna dell'Orto church. For the soirée, Sánchez chose an eye-popping off-the-shoulder dress pulled from the Spring 2025 Schiaparelli couture collection, designed by Daniel Roseberry and titled 'Icarus.' Her dress featured a jutting, folded-over neckline that, like the skintight midi skirt, was embroidered with designs of swirling vines, florals, and eyes—all in hues of iridescent blue, green, and gold that were set against a champagne fabric. However, it was the contrasting waist that stole the show. The ribbed midsection featured a tightly-wrapped swirl of gold material that cinched Sánchez's body like a spool of thread. In fact, the corset-style swathe was so cinched that the bride needed her husband-to-be to hold her hand as she stepped onto their water taxi. To complete her look, The Fly Who Flew to Space author slipped into a pair of matching metallic gold pumps. For glam, she pulled her hair back into a high ponytail with a few strands hanging like curtains in front of her face—a look that showed off her large diamond earrings. Based on the lavishness of the nuptials, this surely won't be the last designer look we see on Sánchez.
