Caleb Followill ‘on the mend' but unable to travel or perform for at least eight weeks after brutal injury
Caleb Followill is 'on the mend' but unable to travel or perform for at least eight weeks after a brutal injury. The Kings of Leon frontman, 43, shattered his heel in what he described as a 'freak accident' and revealed the news in a video posted to the band's official Instagram page, which also confirmed the cancellation of the band's upcoming UK and European shows as a result of him needing to recover. The Grammy-winning band had been scheduled to perform across the UK and Europe throughout June and July, including appearances in Cardiff, Lancashire and headline sets at major festivals in Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Belgium and Portugal. But those plans have been scrapped after Caleb required emergency surgery in Nashville following the injury, which occurred while he was playing with his children. Caleb told fans online: 'Hello to everyone out there, especially our European fans that are coming to see us this summer. 'Unfortunately I regret to inform you that those shows will have to be cancelled due to a freak accident that happened the other day. 'I broke my foot pretty bad just playing with my kids… it's pretty gnarly and I'll spare all the details. But we're fortunate enough to have some great doctors here in Nashville that gave me emergency surgery.' The singer – who has two children with 38-year-old model Lily Aldridge – was told by doctors to remain off his feet for around two months. 'I'm on the mend, but they've told me that I can't be on my feet, travelling, or anything for the next eight weeks or so. That's a big bummer,' he added. Caleb went on: 'We were so excited. We've been preparing for this tour for a long time, we've been preparing for a lot of things. 'We've been in the studio recording, we have a bunch of new songs, we were going to debut a few of them on this run. 'We had a lot of exciting things planned and now we're going to have to pivot and find a new way to continue the work that we've started.' Despite the setback, Caleb ended the message with optimism. He said: 'I'm very excited for when we do get to show you the stuff we're doing, and in the meantime we're going to do whatever work we can while I have these limitations. 'Exciting stuff is coming, I know this isn't the message anyone wants to hear, and it's certainly not the message I want to be sending, but it's going to be alright. Everything is going to be good. Hopefully, we will see y'all soon.' The video concluded with a shot of Caleb's foot in a cast. In a separate statement, his bandmates Nathan Followill, 45, Jared Followill, 38, and Matthew Followill, 40, confirmed the cancellation and detailed the injury. They said: 'Kings of Leon are updating fans that Caleb Followill has recently sustained a serious injury, shattering his heel and requiring a significant emergency surgery, that will prevent him from travelling and performing. 'The anticipated recovery process is expected to take eight weeks, under strict guidance of expert orthopaedic specialists. The band regrets to report that they will need to cancel all upcoming UK and European festival headline shows in June and July of this year.' Kings of Leon had been scheduled to headline Lytham Festival in Lancashire alongside Justin Timberlake and Alanis Morissette. Organisers have since confirmed the event will be shortened from five days to four due to the cancellation, stating it is too late to book a replacement act. They also wished Caleb a 'speedy recovery'.

Billy Joel ‘has no plans to retire despite ongoing health battles'
Billy Joel is said to have no plans to retire despite his ongoing health battles. The 76-year-old singer has paused live performances following a diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus, but those close to him say he is determined to return to the stage after the five-time Grammy winner, whose hits include 'Piano Man' and 'Big Shot', announced on 23 May that he would be cancelling all remaining concert dates due to the condition, which causes a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. Symptoms can also include issues with hearing, vision and balance but despite the setback, sources insist Billy is focused on recovery and remains committed to performing. 'He is happiest while performing,' a music industry insider told People. They added: 'Music is, has been and will always be his life. He's not ready to retire.' A second source told the outlet: 'Billy is not retiring and hopes to be able to resume performing as his recovery progresses.' The singer, who is receiving treatment and undergoing physical therapy, confirmed the news in a statement shared via Instagram. 'I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,' he said. Billy added: 'I'm thankful for the excellent care I'm receiving and fully committed to prioritising my health. I'm grateful for the support from fans during this time and look forward to the day when I can once again take the stage.' The crooner's wife, 42-year-old Alexis Roderick, echoed the sentiment in a post on 26 May, saying online: 'Bill is beloved by so many, and to us, he is a father and husband who is at the centre of our world.' She also shared a photograph of the couple with their daughters Della, eight, and Remy, six. Alexis added: 'We are hopeful for his recovery. We look forward to seeing you all in the future.' Billy's daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 38, also voiced her support in an Instagram post shared on 24 May, captioning a painting of the two: 'We love you and we got you, Pop!' In February, Billy stumbled and fell backwards during a show at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut after spinning a microphone stand. He quickly recovered and completed the set, but in March he postponed all shows through June, citing a medical condition requiring physical therapy. In a statement at the time, he said: 'While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.' Billy had been scheduled to perform in cities including New York, Liverpool, New Orleans and Washington, D.C., with dates running through 2026.

Dolly Parton hints Cowboy Carter tour appearance
Dolly Parton says she could show up to Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour. The 79-year-old country music legend was "very honoured" when the Single Ladies hitmaker, 43, remade her 1973 classic - but with a "twist" where she warns Jolene to stay clear of her man. Asked if she can be expected at one of the shows on the mammoth stadium tour, Dolly told the HuffPost: "You never know ― anything is possible! Because she really is doing great with that (tour)." On being "very amused" by Beyoncé's take on Jolene, she added: "I was very honoured that she wanted to do her version of Jolene. "That's all a great compliment to me, when somebody wants to do my songs in any version. "I was very amused by her take on that, and I got a big kick out of that. "She's not gonna sit back and say, 'Oh please don't take my man.' She's gonna kick some ass!" Beyoncé kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour by raking in a record-setting $55.7 million gross. The Crazy In Love hitmaker finished a run of five gigs at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on May 9, and pulled in well over $50 million with 217,000 tickets sold. As reported by Rolling Stone magazine, the Los Angeles run was the "biggest reported single-venue engagement" of the year so far. It was also the fifth-highest grossing tour stop in Boxscore history, beaten only by U2 at the Sphere in Las Vegas across 2023 and 2024, Harry Styles at New York's Madison Square Garden in 2022, and Take That's Wembley Stadium run in 2011. What's more, it also marked the highest-grossing single-venue engagement in history by a female artist. Beyoncé started her tour on April 28 and returned to the venue on May 1, 4, 7 and 9, pulling in an average of $11.1 million per night with over 43,000 fans in attendance for each show. With three performances as SoFi in 2023, her eight gigs in total was more than any other artist in the venue's five-year history. On the opening night of the SoFi run, the Grammy Award-winner was joined onstage by her daughters Blue Ivy Carter and Rumi Carter. Blue Ivy, 13, danced with her famous mother during her performance of America Has A Problem. Later on, it was time for Beyoncé and Jay-Z's seven-year-old, Rumi Carter, to make her onstage debut. As Beyoncé belted out the moving ballad Protector, Rumi and her big sister stood with her under the spotlight. Following the performance, pictures of Beyoncé and her three children - also including Rumi's twin brother Sir - appeared on a big screen behind her.
