Inspired by celebrity fashion and social media trends, many are using the serpent bendable jewellery to the best of their creativity. Vernika Kundra (20), a fashion enthusiast, got her hands on this jewellery after discovering it on Instagram.
She says, 'It is so trendy, I had to get my hands on it. I was going to buy it from a street shop, but had doubts about their quality and colour… I was gifted the same piece for ₹3,000. It was worth the money because it was gold-plated and suited my sensitive skin.'
This trendy piece of jewellery is now a favourite among styling enthusiasts. Jewellery designers say its popularity is driven by high-end brands, celebrity fashion, powerful symbolism, versatility and distinctive designs.

The surge in its popularity is also largely driven by some global luxury labels. According to jewellery designer Maithili Kabre, the serpent motif has been a classic for some time now. She says, 'The Bulgari Serpenti choker mainly inspires the pieces we come across today at many contemporary jewellery stores.'

A few high-end versions include intricately meshed gold cloth draped around a bendable wire core. Some also come with gemstones installed.'
