Travis Kelce Opens Up About Taylor Swift Romance: 'It Just Took the F*** Off'
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end says in a new interview that Hollywood calling in the wake of his popularity explosion over the last couple years came at a price after his team came up short at the Super Bowl LIX in February.

'Win a Super Bowl is the only goal,' Kelce told GQ. 'It's the only goal. It's every goal. I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up. And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer. I don't say this as 'I shouldn't have done it.' I'm just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven't been to my standard. I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys.'
Kelce might be a tad hard on himself here. The man has gone to the Super Bowl five times and won three — including in 2024. On the other hand, only he knows if he truly gave the last couple seasons his all.
Over the last two years, Kelce took a gig as a game show host for Prime Video's Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity, took a dramatic turn in the Ryan Murphy FX thriller Grotesquerie and had a role in the current Netflix hit Happy Gilmore 2, among other gigs.
In the interview, Kelce also discussed his relationship with Taylor Swift on the eve of a highly anticipated New Heights podcast episode (which drops Wednesday at 7 p.m.) where Swift is set to discuss her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
As for his relationship with Swift, the NFL star said he admires the athleticism she displayed on her Eras Tour, saying her effort surpasses what NFL players go through. 'She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete,' he said. 'But I've seen what she goes through. I've seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it's mind-blowing … [Swift's performance] is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she's doing it three, four, five days in a row.' Also, that he values having a partner who 'who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions.'
Added Kelce: 'Whenever I'm with her, it feels like we're just regular people. When there is not a camera on us, we're just two people that are in love. It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but I would say that it's as normal of … It happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically … we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the fuck off.'

Stefanski likely to reveal Browns' starting QB for opener this week
CLEVELAND (AP) — Coach Kevin Stefanski is expected to announce this week the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback for the Sept. 7 opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. 'I want to get through the next couple days. But certainly that's something that we're going to do here sooner than later,' Stefanski said on Sunday about announcing his starter. 'I need to get the football team in here, talk to the players, those type of things.' The Browns were off on Sunday after their 22-13 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. They return to work on Monday with practices leading up to Saturday's preseason finale over the Los Angeles Rams mostly being geared like a normal game week. 'We'll give the guys a normal game plan as you would get ready for the game," Stefanski said. "We will do more competitive periods than we would say in the regular season, so we'll do plenty of Browns versus Browns in practice, as well as introducing carded periods where we'll be simulating the Rams offense and defense.' Joe Flacco has not played in either preseason game, but has seen most of the first-team snaps throughout camp as well as getting plenty of work in joint practices against Carolina and Philadelphia. The 40-year old Flacco is the only one of Cleveland's quarterbacks in the four-way competition that has not been sidelined because of an injury during training camp. Kenny Pickett has been mostly limited the past couple of weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on July 26. Shedeur Sanders missed the second day of joint practices against the Eagles and did not play in the game after suffering an oblique injury last Wednesday. Stefanski was optimistic that Pickett or Sanders could possibly return to practice sometime this week. Sanders got the start against Carolina and completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two TD passes. Dillon Gabriel, who did not play in the preseason opener at Carolina on Aug. 8 because of a hamstring strain, played the first half against the Eagles. In five series, he completed 13 of 18 passes for 143 yards. Three of the drives resulted in points while the other two ended with turnovers, including a 75-yard, pick-6 by Eagles safety Andrew Mukuba. What pleased Stefanski the most about Dillon was that he completed all six of his passes on third down. The Browns were 6 of 8 on third down in the first half. 'Protection was good. We were able to find completions. But those third down conversions were huge,' Stefanski said. ___ AP NFL:

Lions Fans React to Injury Update on Sam LaPorta
Lions Fans React to Injury Update on Sam LaPorta originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Detroit Lions are gearing up for another NFL campaign after winning the NFC North title in 2024. Unfortunately, the team just got some unfortunate injury news before the start of the 2025 season. On Thursday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell announced that third-year tight end Sam LaPorta has suffered an undisclosed injury. The injury is not considered "major," but the 24-year-old pass catcher is expected to miss at least a few days with the issue. "LaPorta will be down. It's not major, but he will miss a little bit of time here," Campbell said before the Lions' second joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. While LaPorta's injury is not considered serious, some Lions fans are sounding the alarm on what could spell future injury issues for the star TE. "I don't like this," one wrote. "He seems injury prone," another added. "This team is cursed, if it weren't for the injuries last year, they would have won the Super Bowl," another said. "Don't overreact. Just be right for Week 1," another wrote. LaPorta burst onto the NFL scene as an elite tight end weapon in 2023, reeling in 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season with the Lions. His record-breaking statistics regressed in Year 2, seeing him collect 60 catches for 726 yards and seven touchdowns. The Lions will face off against the Dolphins in their next preseason matchup on Saturday afternoon. The team will kickoff its regular-season schedule with a matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sep. 7. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 14, 2025, where it first appeared.

News Analysis: Matthew Stafford's injury raises serious concerns for Rams as season approaches
Rams coach Sean McVay was not talking. Aubrey Pleasant deferred to McVay. And Stetson Bennett was so busy leading a comeback victory, he said he did not notice. No one in the Rams organization could answer these questions: How did Matthew Stafford's scheduled workout on Saturday play out? And was he at the Rams' 23-22 victory over the Chargers at SoFi Stadium? A team spokesman declined to comment, saying McVay would address the situation on Monday. Read more: Rams mum on whether Matthew Stafford worked out: Takeaways from preseason win So the Stafford saga plays on, incrementally worsening as the Sept. 7 opener against the Houston Texans draws near. Stafford, 37, is preparing for his 17th NFL season. Check that: He would be if not for a back issue that has prevented him from taking a single snap or throwing a single pass during a team practice. In late July, when the Rams reported to training camp at Loyola Marymount and Stafford's back issue came to light, the situation was cause for concern. For everyone, it seemed, but McVay. The Rams had a plan, he said. He was not concerned. Stafford would not practice for the first week, but he would be out there with teammates in Week 2. It did not happen. Nearly a month later, it still hasn't. McVay said last week that the Rams were 'trying to get our hands around' the situation. But time is becoming shorter. The Rams are three weeks away from the season opener against the Houston Texans at SoFi Stadium. Read more: Whose house? Rams and Chargers fans debate which team is the 'alphas' of L.A. Bennett has started preseason games against the Cowboys and the Chargers. Garoppolo led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl. Bennett is playing with the confidence he displayed while leading Georgia to two national titles. With a physically sound Stafford, the Rams would be regarded as a legitimate Super Bowl contender. With Garoppolo or Bennett... How much time Stafford would need to be ready for the opener is an open question. Three weeks? Two? One? No one questions Stafford's toughness or grit.
