Achieve Salon-Quality Brows at Home With These Eyebrow Tint Kits

Elle3 days ago

It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize that perfect brows don't require daily filling. That changed when I discovered the magic of eyebrow tint kits— an easy, at-home way to shape and define my brows while reclaiming precious minutes in the morning. No longer did I have to excuse my hurried handiwork with the mantra: eyebrows are sisters, not twins. Now, I wake up with arches that are ready for the day before I am.
Before putting something semi-permanent on my face, I made sure to choose a style that complemented my features. That's why I took the time to master styling with eyebrow pencils before trying my first tint kit. Now that I'm more confident, I'm even considering getting it done professionally for special occasions—but I still love the convenience of doing it at home. 'Tinted brow gels are a really great way to experiment,' says Rebecca Hoffman, founder of Bespoke Brows NYC and proud eyebrow enthusiast. 'If you've been using a colored brow gel, and you're getting frustrated with the fact that it lasts for 12 hours versus three to four weeks, then tinting at home is a nice way to dip your toe in without overcommitting.'
When it comes to inspiration for your brow-tinting journey, you might look to Lily Collins's iconic brows or Hailey Bieber's soft, wispy style. Your face is your canvas, and the right brow shape should enhance—not copy—some else's. 'It seems that our consumers aren't leaning heavy into trends at the moment but are more so asking us, based off of the eyebrows that they were born with and their structure, what works best for them,' explains Hoffman. 'It's not quite about fitting into a certain shape, but it's been emphasizing the natural shape as best as possible.'
Skip the men's beard dye and treat yourself to a proper brow tint that will leave you waking up flawless. Keep reading to uncover the best eyebrow tinting kits that bring salon-quality results straight to your home.
This tint is perfect for anyone serious about at-home eyebrow tinting, as it lasts impressively long on both the skin and brow hairs. Plus, Brow Code offers an entire playlist of tutorial videos covering everything from prep work to aftercare.
Brow Code rating: 4.8/5 stars
A Brow Code reviewer says: 'Brow tint kit is very easy to use and makes my sparse brows look fuller without the need for filling them in every day. Much less expensive than going to a salon for a tint every two weeks and can be done in the privacy of your own home on your own time.'
We're all familiar with Wonderskin's ultra-viral lip stain, but now it's time to explore their game-changing eyebrow stain. Designed to be buildable, this Wonderskin eyebrow stain allows you to gradually darken your brows, avoid dreaded brow-blindness while achieving your perfect look.
Amazon rating: 3.6/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: 'I loved this product! I've tried other brow tints before, but none of them lasted as well as this one from Wonderskin. It's super easy to apply and the result looks really natural (I used the Dark Brunette shade and it matched my hair/skin tone perfectly). What impressed me the most was the staying power — it truly doesn't transfer or smudge throughout the day, even in the heat. I wake up with my brows looking done! Totally worth it. Already planning to get another one so I don't run out.'
Believe it or not, you can actually add hair to your eyebrows. Benefit's Gimme Brow+ is packed with tiny microfibers that give your brows a beautifully volumized finish. If you're not ready for a permanent brow tint but want to experiment with added volume, this gel is a must-buy.
Sephora rating: 4.4/5 stars
A Benefit Cosmetics reviewer says: 'As a natural blonde who doesn't always have time to dye my brows, this is the best brow product I have found! Even when I have dyed my brows, I still use it as it provides fullness to my sparse brows as well as holding them in place ALL day. My brows look beautifully groomed with this baby!'
This product applies like a brow gel but gradually works to semi-permanently tint your eyebrows over time. If you're in it for the long haul, try this hydrating, growth-promoting, and gradually darkening brow tint.
Thrive Cosmetics rating: 4.4/5 stars
A Thrive Cosmetics reviewer says: 'I've tried several brow gels and this one is very promising. It goes on easily, doesn't clump like others—and we all know when THAT happens, you just have to start again. Who has time for that? The coverage is great and it really does last. Now, I normally wash off ALL my makeup at night, but I put this to the test. The semi permanent coverage is true. Lasted through the night and into the next day. Beautiful! What a win.'
This peel-off brow gel offers a moderate-lasting tint—not quite weeks-long color, but definitely longer than a single day— making it ideal for intermediate brow tinters. I especially love the peel-off feature, as it allows you to craft the perfect arch without worrying about smudging. Plus, it peels off in one satisfying piece!
Amazon rating: 3.4/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: ' have naturally thin, sparse brows and was looking for something to save me time in my morning makeup routine. This stuff is one of the coolest things I've bought all year! I applied it where I could see my faded microblading and let it set while I make the kids breakfast and pickup around the house. By the time I get ready my brows are set and look great! The color is true to the photos and mine lasted 2-3 days.'
Here's an eyebrow tint that not only colors the hairs but also creates a faux shape on the skin, a henna tint is the perfect solution. This kit offers an impressive 30 applications, so you have several opportunities to touch up your brows with just one package.
Amazon rating: 3.9/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: 'Oh my gosh, this eyebrow tint is truly amazing! I can't believe how easy and effective it is. You only need to leave it on for about 15 minutes to see a significant difference. If you want a deeper tint, just apply it a second time–for me, that was more than enough!'
If you're aiming to darken the natural color of your eyebrow hairs, a light application of this hair tinting kit by Refectocil could be a great option. While it's not specifically designed for eyebrows, reviewers rave about its ability to deliver long-lasting color without irritation.
Amazon rating: 3.9/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: 'I absolutely love this lash and brow tint. I first use this product when I lived in Germany so I was happy to see it available on Amazon. The color is gorgeous and really makes my lashes stand out, giving them a fuller, darker look that lasts. The application is easy and doesn't irritate my eyes. I always put a little Vaseline under my eyes to prevent any dye from getting on my skin.'
If you're looking for a quick and budget-friendly brow tint, give this drugstore favorite by Ardell a try. It's incredibly user-friendly, thanks to the included mixing tools and spoolie. Plus, it delivers long-lasting color that stays vibrant for up to two weeks.
An Amazon reviewer says: 'Love this eyebrow dye! Works really well, super easy to use. Comes with a little reusable bowl to mix product. Comes with 4 capsules. I have blonde eyebrows; almost invisible and it's really amazing to be able to dye them at home whenever I want vs going to the salon. Inexpensive but great quality.'
Want the definition of microblading without the commitment? The Revlon ColorStay Brow Pen features a precise fine-tip brush, making it easy to draw individual hairs for a natural finish.
Amazon rating: 4.3/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: 'This is 100 percent my go-to for long lasting eyebrows. It literally stays on for days, even when wet. I apply it in light strokes/lines to match my eyebrow hairs, then use my own soft eyebrow brush immediately after I apply a few strokes to soften and blend the liner into my skin.'
If you're looking for a sharp, high-contrast brow that develops in no time, the aptly named Instant Eyebrow Color by Godefroy is the perfect kit for you. Trusted by reviewers across the internet, this brand's eyebrow tinting products are celebrated for their consistent, reliable color results.
An Amazon reviewer says: 'My hair color is naturally super dark brown. I picked the medium brown color based on other reviews and I can guarantee that the medium brown looks best. It can come out dark and rich without being overwhelming, especially if you're lighter-complexioned. The tint lasts around the stated time (4 weeks). I actually halved the time stated for leaving it on and was satisfied with how it came out.'
Like any beauty ritual, brow tinting starts with prep. Hoffman recommends patch testing your kit of choice the day before application. 'A day before you're thinking of fully tinting your brows, oxidize the tint and put a little bit of it behind your earlobe or maybe, somewhere along your neck, just to see if in the immediate you might have a reaction,' she explains. When it comes to application, working slow and tidily can ensure that you get your desired results and minimize mistakes. 'When you're applying the color, obviously, you want to work as neatly as you can,' Hoffman says. 'If the packaging tells you it should be on for 10 minutes, cut that in half if not less, and check it. You can always put it back on in general. It is so much easier to reapply tint and build that color than it is to scrub it out.'
The frequency with which you need to tint your eyebrows varies depending on the product you're using, so you should defer to the product instructions. 'If you're using an at home product, there should be recommendations for that on the packaging that you use,' says Hoffman. 'In general an estimate is every three to four weeks, but that's product dependent.'
Hoffman explains that there are generally two different types of dyes used to tint brows, and each provides different benefits based on what look you're going for. 'There are two generally two different types of tints, and each one will provide different service results. You can do a henna tint, which is more long lasting, and it will also stain your skin. It's a little bit more of an extreme look, but it's great for people who don't have hair and really need the dye to stick to the skin in order to create the shape of a brow.'
Most classic brow tints are vegetable-based dyes. These formulas will only stain the hair, 'which is great for achieving a much more natural look,' Hoffman continues. 'In general, tinting will kind of only color match what you have for a denser, fuller look, or it will make your brow hair go darker.'
When searching for a tint, keep an eye out for products that have been tested and are meant to be used on the eyebrow. 'Some things that you do want to look for is the brand ophthalmologist tested or is this product specifically made for brows and lashes?'
In terms of avoiding certain ingredients, Hoffman suggests steering clear of known irritants. 'Some of those ingredients that you want to avoid are called PPDs (Phenylenediamines),' she explains. 'They're known to be like kind of harsh. Usually, they tend to contain allergens in it.' Hoffman also recommends avoiding products with synthetic fragrances, ammonia, or parabens.
If you're not exactly sure how to shape and style your brows or what sort of look you're going for, that's a great time to visit a salon, like Bespoke Brows NYC. The studio only accepts walk-ins, so you can stop by for a consultation any time. 'Don't be scared to come in and ask questions. This is your face. We're here to serve you, and you don't have to feel like you know what you want when you come in,' says Hoffman. 'The consultation should always be a conversation to make sure that you understand your options and we're both on the same page with the results that you want to get.'
If you do decide to visit a studio in the hopes of achieving a specific look, Hoffman suggests bringing an inspiration photo. 'When in doubt, it never hurts to bring in a reference photo to any type of salon if you feel like you don't quite have the language to explain what you're going for.'

I Love This Portable 32-Inch Touchscreen TV and It's on Sale at Amazon Right Now

For a brand I had previously never heard about, Fiteye captivated me with its portable "TV" offering. The premise is similar to LG's StandbyME Rollable Smart Touch Screen but uses Android OS, offers longer battery life, a larger display and costs less with the current $193 discount in both the white and cream white models. You'll find it for $897 right now at Amazon. It's essentially a TV on wheels connected to a 15,000-mAh battery buried somewhere inside the base of its stand. However, I'd be hard-pressed to call this thing a TV; since it's touch screen, it's more like an oversized Android tablet on wheels. Somehow, since it arrived at my doorstep, it has followed me everywhere I go in the house. In fact, it's watching me type at this very moment. Now I can't imagine what life would be like if my giant Android tablet were to leave. It's become everything: a TV, a monitor, a signboard, a companion, a friend… I digress. What exactly is this TV for? A bit of everything, really. So far, I've used it to watch anime with my headphones connected, lounging on the couch while my partner uses the living room TV. I've used it as a monitor for my MacBook while working. I've rolled it up to my minibar and used it to look at cocktail recipes while mixing. I've used it as a recipe book, a kitchen chalkboard, an indoor news signboard, an outdoor TV and the list goes on and on. Dreamchild Obari/CNET It also has a front camera -- not a very powerful one but it could work in a pinch. You can set it up to do video calls with friends and family who don't care too much about video quality. It's also perfect for video calling in a games night, and we've used it as a Scrabble dictionary instead of people using different phones to check words. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. It's not particularly the best at all these things. For instance, there are many dedicated outdoor TVs and projectors with better sound, image quality and insulation but it's perfect at being a jack-of-all-trades, moving around the house to where it's needed the most. It cannot completely replace a tablet, a phone, a monitor or even a TV, though, and I won't recommend it as any one of these. But if you need an average extra screen for any reason or a smart display for your smart home -- this is the way to go. What are the specs? As a tablet, its performance is decent. It has an 8-core unspecified CPU that runs Android 12 OS compatible with many apps in the App Store, 128GB of built-in storage and 6GB of RAM. So far, I haven't noticed any lag in performance or video playback. Dreamchild Obari/CNET The 32-inch display has a surprisingly crisp high-contrast LCD panel, 60Hz refresh rate and 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. With its ability to rotate and swivel, it's not hard to adjust it to a good viewing angle. It is lacking in the sound department, though. I've taken to pairing it with a portable Bluetooth speaker. Another thing that pleases me about this smart screen is its battery. Fiteye claims you can get up to 7 hours of usage time with it. I've left mine on for up to 48 hours, displaying my curated Flipboard widget at the lowest brightness. However, since the battery isn't integrated into the tablet, tracking battery health using the LED screen on the base's stand is a hassle since the numbers are inaccurate and the LED display tends to shut off when inactive.

This Philips Hue Accessory Is a Game Changer for Light Control

Philips Hue smart lights consistently rank well on CNET's list of the best smart lights out there. As someone who has collected these over the years, I love how efficient they are, but controlling them typically means I need to reach for my smartphone or bark a voice command into a smart speaker, smart display or my smartwatch. While these options are great, having so many ways to control my lights has made my overall smart lighting experience feel like a bit of a mess. Luckily, I found the perfect accessory to control my lights that I can't live without now. I can find other brands of smart lights at much cheaper prices these days, but Philips Hue is perhaps the most well-known smart light brand, and offers a solid lineup of indoor and outdoor smart lighting. Whether I want my lighting tucked away or I'm looking for unique lights that are designed to be shown off, Hue's got them. It's not just about the bulbs. The Hue line also has a large assortment of accessories. To me, the best is the Philips Hue Tap Dial. Available in black or white and priced at $50, the Tap Dial is a small puck-shaped light controller with buttons you can press and a dial you can twist, giving it a "smart analog" vibe. It lets you easily control multiple smart lights at once without having to use voice control. Right now the white version bundled with a smart dimmer is discounted by 7% on Amazon, bringing the price down to $72. It's a very minor discount, yes, but it's rarely ever on sale. Plus, I'd recommend it to anyone with Hue lights, even when it's at full price. For more, don't miss our roundup of the best smart home deals overall. On the surface, the Tap Dial is a simple way to control your lights Spending $50 on a glorified light switch (or $72 on the bundle) may seem like a bit much, especially when you consider that it's nearly the same price as a single Philips Hue 75-watt White and Color Ambiance bulb. If you're like me and firmly steeped in the Hue ecosystem, you've likely already come to terms with the fact that it's an expensive ecosystem to be in. The customization options for this little guy will have tinkerers excited, and I believe it's definitely worth its price. The Dial looks like a hockey puck with four buttons on the face, with a rotating outer wheel to brighten or dim your lights. The four buttons each have little dots numbered 1 to 4, so you can feel which button you're pressing, even in the dark. It's fairly small and not a chore to bring it room to room if you so desire. You can place it on a wall inside of the included wall mount to use like a typical light switch. It's magnetic, so you can stick it on your fridge or some other metal surface. The customization options for the Tap Dial are extensive. Blake Stimac/CNET Under the hood, the Tap Dial is a dream for tinkerers You'd think that setup for this little device would be simple, with only a few options involved, but you'd be wrong. The settings for the Tap Dial can be a bit complex and can require some tinkering to get just right, especially if you have multiple scenes you want to go through. Either I completely missed the function in the app, or within the nearly two years I've had the dial, Philips resolved my main gripe. I'm not sure which is true, but my biggest annoyance was that I believed you could only use the Tap Dial for one room or "zone" in your home. While this may have always been how the device functioned, this has now been resolved (in my mind) and you can assign each button to a different room or zone. The twist-to-dim function can only be assigned to one room at a time, which makes sense. To set up, you'll head to the Hue app, then go to Settings > Accessories and select your Tap Dial. From there, you can assign functions to each of the buttons. First, you'll need to choose whether the button is going to control your lights or automation. If you choose the former, you'll need to choose the button behavior when you press it: Time-based light : Lighting based on the time of day or based on a customized timetable of your choosing. : Lighting based on the time of day or based on a customized timetable of your choosing. Scene cycle : Choose a primary scene that will always start upon a button press. Continue pressing to cycle through additional light scenes. : Choose a primary scene that will always start upon a button press. Continue pressing to cycle through additional light scenes. Single scene : Always only the same scene on button press. : Always only the same scene on button press. Lights off: Selected lights turn off when the button is pressed. By default, pressing and holding any of the buttons will turn off the lights assigned to it, but you can opt for turning all the lights off in your entire home or for it to do nothing. There's also an advanced "smart on/off" option, which I haven't dabbled with yet. After you've customized the buttons to your liking, your last stop is to choose what the twist dial does, or what else it does, other than brightening or dimming your lights. There are only two options here, and both are easy to tweak. The first is choosing if you want to be able to turn your lights off completely with the dial or have them go down to the minimum brightness only as you twist to dim them. The second gives you the option to set a specific scene that will turn on if you twist the dial when the lights are off. You can make your setup as simple or complex as you'd like, making the Tap Dial approachable for anyone. The Hue Tap Dial makes a great gift There's a good chance that someone isn't going to run out and drop a bunch of money on Hue lights after receiving this as a gift. The Tap Dial is easy to use, but the value it brings comes with the customization you can do with it. Still, you don't have to want to jump into all the settings to make the Dial worth it. As I said above, it's an approachable device for anyone since you can make it as simple or as complex as you'd like. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. If you know someone who already has a Hue setup in their home, this would be a great addition. Plus, if they love to dig into the settings or are self-described tinkerers, then this is definitely something worth considering. If you aren't sure if someone has Hue lights, then the Tap Dial would be an even better gift when paired with a new bulb.
