(Video) Fans Slam YG For Stage Mishap During BLACKPINK LA Concert

Hype Malaysia14-07-2025
Stage malfunctions during concerts are nothing new, as they do happen from time to time. However, these technical issues can pose serious risks to performers on stage, potentially leading to severe injuries. We've seen numerous instances of artists falling through stage doors that were mistakenly left open.
Thankfully, this BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) member reacted quickly when the stage door suddenly began to descend. Fans, of course, were far from satisfied, questioning how such an incident could have happened in the first place. Here's the story:
BLACKPINK is currently on their DEADLINE World Tour and recently performed in Los Angeles. While Jennie was delivering her part in 'SHUTDOWN', the rest of the members took their positions. However, as Lisa and the dancers were getting into place, the stage door suddenly began to descend.
Both the rapper and the dancers quickly moved back up to the main stage and resumed the show without further incident. The stage door then ascended back into place before the rest of the members made their way forward to deliver their parts. This moment during the concert was caught on video and instantly went viral on social media, with fans criticising YG Entertainment for the stage malfunction.
Many labelled the agency and the stage operator as incompetent, describing the incident as extremely dangerous, noting that Lisa and the dancers could have been seriously injured had they not reacted quickly. Others went so far as to accuse the company of deliberately causing the stage door to descend, suggesting it was an act of sabotage targeted specifically at Lisa.
Thankfully, the rest of the concert went off without a hitch. However, the incident still left many fans concerned for BLACKPINK, with some expressing that the tour felt rushed and that YG's team appeared unprepared.

South Korea President Lee Jae Myung to discuss future of K-pop in TV special

The appearance comes as President Lee has doubled down on positioning Korea as a global cultural leader. Photo: Reuters President Lee Jae Myung is set to appear on the special broadcast K-Pop: The Next Chapter , joining key entertainment industry figures in discussing the current state and future of K-pop. The programme, scheduled for broadcast on Arirang TV, South Korea's public international broadcaster, at 5 pm Wednesday, will feature a lineup that includes President Lee; Maggie Kang, who co-directed the animated feature KPop Demon Hunters with Chris Appelhans; Twice's Jihyo and Jeongyeon; producer-DJ (Kim Jung-gu), the hitmaker behind Blackpink and Big Bang songs; and music critic Kim Young-dae. The show host is Jang Sung-kyu, a former JTBC announcer-turned-TV personality. According to the presidential office, the special was designed as a platform to reflect on K-pop's global reach, explore the new possibilities introduced by global content and share visions for its next phase. 'As Korea aims to reestablish itself as a cultural powerhouse among the world's Big 5 of soft power, continuous growth and innovation in the cultural industries, including K-pop, are essential. Accordingly, the insights and voices shared through this program will be reflected in shaping future policy directions,' a presidential office official said in a press statement released Tuesday. The appearance comes as President Lee has doubled down on positioning Korea as a global cultural leader. His administration last week unveiled an expansive five-year plan to strengthen the nation's cultural standing and develop a sustainable digital and media ecosystem. The initiative sets ambitious growth targets for K-culture while emphasising the need to support both artistic creation and public participation. At a cabinet meeting earlier this week, Lee also remarked: 'The wave that began with K-pop is now spreading across K-culture as a whole.' He continued: 'Recently, as KPop Demon Hunters has gained huge popularity worldwide, crowds have been flocking to the National Museum of Korea, with museum goods selling out day after day. We must accelerate our journey toward becoming a true powerhouse of K-culture.' The president further urged government ministries to come up with measures "including strategies for the global expansion of K-content and the development of related infrastructure such as K-pop facilities — while adhering to the arm's-length principle of supporting but not interfering.' – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network
