Pasay courts dismiss charges against Neri Naig-Miranda
Pasay courts have dismissed all charges against actress and businesswoman Neri Naig-Miranda related to syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code, clearing her name in connection with the Dermacare investment scam.
In a statement shared by her husband, Chito Miranda, FLO Attorneys-at-Law confirmed that the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 112 ruled in favor of Naig-Miranda, stating that there was no evidence proving she defrauded the complainants.
The court noted that the complainants never directly transacted with Naig-Miranda or handed her any money, undermining the basis for the estafa charge.
The decision followed a reinvestigation by Pasay City prosecutors, who found no probable cause to indict her. Additionally, RTC Branch 111 dismissed complaints accusing Naig-Miranda of violating the Securities Regulation Code, further reinforcing her legal vindication.
Attorney Aureli Sinsuat, Naig-Miranda's legal counsel, welcomed the court's decision, emphasizing that she had been falsely accused in the case. He urged authorities to focus on holding the real perpetrators accountable.
Meanwhile, Chito Miranda expressed gratitude to those who supported his wife throughout the legal ordeal. 'To those who chose to stand up and defend my wife, maraming salamat talaga,' he wrote.

Northrop invests $50m in Firefly Aerospace to advance Eclipse launch vehicle
The vehicle is being built on a hybrid foundation that draws from Northrop Grummans Antares platform and Fireflys Alpha rocket technology. Northrop Grumman Corporation has invested $50m into Firefly Aerospace to further advance production of their co-developed medium launch vehicle, now known as Eclipse. The companies continue to make progress in the development of Eclipse flight hardware, with qualification testing underway and more than 60 Miranda engine hot fire tests performed to date. Jason Kim, CEO of Firefly Aerospace, said: 'Firefly is incredibly grateful for Northrop Grummans investment that further solidifies our first-of-its-kind partnership to build the first stage of Antares 330 and jointly develop Eclipse. Eclipse represents two powerful forces coming together to transform the launch market with decades of flight heritage, a rapid, iterative approach, and bold innovation. With a 16 metric ton to orbit capability, Eclipse is a sweet spot for programs like NSSL Lane 1 and a natural fit to launch proliferated constellations in LEO, MEO, GEO and TLI.' Built upon Northrop Grummans Antares and Fireflys Alpha rocket, Eclipse offers a significant leap in power, performance, production cadence and payload capacity. The launch vehicle retains the flight-proven avionics from the Antares programme with additional upgrades, including a larger 5.4 meter payload fairing. Eclipse also utilises the same first stage Firefly is developing for Antares 330 and retains scaled-up versions of Alphas propulsion systems and carbon composite structures, allowing the team to rapidly build and test Eclipse with significant production efficiencies and economies of scale. Firefly utilised the same patented tap-off cycle architecture from Alphas Reaver and Lightning engines for Eclipses Miranda and Vira engines, and completed mission duty cycle with a 206 second Miranda hot fire, matching the longest time the engine will burn during a flight. Following several development test campaigns, flight hardware has been manufactured for the common dome propellant tanks, engine bay and interstage. Wendy Williams, Vice President and General Manager, Launch and Missile Defense Systems, Northrop Grumman, added: 'Eclipse gives customers the right balance between payload capacity and affordability. Our partnership with Firefly builds on our capacity to provide crucial spaced-based communication, observation, and exploration for civil and national security customers.' Filling a void in an underserved market, Eclipse is equipped to deliver 16,300 kg of cargo to low Earth orbit or 3,200 kg of cargo to geosynchronous transfer orbit. Eclipse will first launch from Wallops Island, Virginia, as early as 2026 and is able to support space station resupply, commercial spacecraft, critical national security missions and scientific payloads for the domestic and international markets.

Neri Naig Breaks silence after court dismisses charges
Weeks after the Pasay courts dismissed the syndicated estafa and Securities Regulation Code violation charges against her, Neri Naig has spoken out about her ordeal. In an Instagram post, Neri shared images of herself being escorted by Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel during her detention in November 2024. She also posted her lawyers' statement confirming the court's decision to drop the charges. 'Hindi ko talaga inakala na mapapasama ako sa Most Wanted sa Pilipinas,' she wrote on Instagram. Reflecting on the experience, Neri admitted she never imagined being labeled a fugitive. 'Tinawag akong magnanakaw, manloloko, at scammer. Never naman akong nagtago. Palagi nga akong nasa palengke, sa mga talks, at kahit saan pa—I have always been visible, hindi lang sa social media,' she said. Though she has chosen to stay silent until now, she described the experience as a nightmare she will never forget. Neri acknowledged the judgment she faced but emphasized that she refused to let anger or pain define her. She expressed gratitude to those who stood by her, calling them her 'Army of Angels' during the storm. In the comments, she also praised her husband, Chito Miranda, for his unwavering support, crediting his love for giving her hope through the darkest times. Neri's legal troubles stemmed from her past involvement with Dermacare Beyond Skin Care Solutions, a company flagged by the Securities and Exchange Commission for unauthorized investment solicitation. She had been an endorser and franchisee since 2020 but cut ties with the company in 2023.

Court issues arrest warrant vs. Darryl Yap over Pepsi Paloma film
A Muntinlupa court has issued an arrest warrant for director Darryl Yap, but he was not taken into custody after posting bail. On March 19, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 203 recalled the arrest warrant after Yap posted a P10,000 cash bond for each of the two libel charges, totaling P20,000. Yap's lawyer, Atty. Raymund Fortun, confirmed the bail. The court scheduled Yap's arraignment for March 26, 2025. The charges stem from Yap's teaser for his upcoming film, 'The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma', which included a controversial scene involving actor-host Vic Sotto. Yap's camp and Sotto declined to comment on the matter.
