Here is everything you need to know about how to apply for next year's race if you're up for it.
How can I apply for the London Marathon 2026?
To apply for the London Marathon 2026, head to the official TCS London Marathon website and sign up through the 'public ballot'.
The ballot typically opens the day before the current year's event - so this year, it is likely to open on Saturday, April 26.

However, it is expected to close on Friday, May 2, so you'll need to be quick.
Results of the ballot will be received in July.
For the 2025 race, a record-breaking 840,318 people entered the ballot and there are usually only around 17,000 places allocated to the ballot. The rest are spread across charity, good for age and tour operators.
If you still don't get a place, you're not left entirely empty handed – you'll be sent a training shirt as a consolation prize. If you choose to donate your entry fee, you only pay £49.99 instead of the full £69.99.
What are the other ways to enter the London Marathon 2026?
Good for Age
Good for Age is only open to UK residents with a total of 6,000 places available. These places are split 50/50 between men and women and they are allocated on a fastest first basis.
That means that hitting the required time for your age group isn't a guarantee that you'll get a place.
Charity places
If Good for Age doesn't quite work out, you can apply for a place at the London Marathon 2026 by applying for a charity place.
You must commit to a minimum fundraising amount.
Tour operators
International runners can get a guaranteed place at the London Marathon by booking with an official your operator.
These packages typically include your entry, plus a hotel and race hospitality packages.
When is the London Marathon 2026?
A date is yet to be confirmed for what will be the 46th edition of the anuaul huge race.
But it is more than likely to be at the end of April similar to other years.

He said: 'It's been mad with the ups and downs, but to get promoted at the end of it and to get capped now, it's been such a good season for me. 'It's the first trophy I've won with a team, so that's a first, and now I've got my first cap. 'I was bursting with pride to get it all done and now I need to focus on next season. 'We've already found out our first home game will be against the champions Napoli, so that will be a good one for us Scottish boys. 'Scott and Billy will be playing at our place and that's the kind of big game you want to play in. 'The Scottish boys have made a real impact out in Italy. We seem to thrive, which is a good thing for us. 'We've established a good reputation out there. Scotty and Billy are big names, Che's is doing well at Torino, Liam Henderson and Fergie are doing great as well. 'There are so many Scottish lads that are making their mark there. 'For young boys, it's a place you can look and see there's opportunities there. 'Aaron Hickey kicked it off and since then Scotland seems to be a good market for them to look to. 'When I first went over I spoke to Aaron. He said it was such a different lifestyle, but I'm absolutely loving it. I couldn't be happier. 'I've got a couple of weeks off before we go again, then it's straight back to work. 'I'm looking forward to going back to Sassuolo after our promotion. 'Doing well there will hopefully keep me in the Scotland squad. There are three national camps this year, so I want to push to get in.' Former Wimbledon champion reveals she's been cycling to Queen's on LIME BIKE after her car was stolen
HEATHER WATSON has been using an electric Lime bike to travel to a new tennis event in south-west London – after being driven mad by a stolen car saga. Her preference are the green-and-white Lime bikes, which can reach a top speed of 15mph and are easily accessible for anyone living in the capital. Watson – who won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title with Finn Henri Kontinen in 2016 – had her car stolen in the summer of 2023. The Guernsey-born ace's Range Rover was nicked from an underground car park at her West London home on the night she belatedly celebrated her 31st birthday with friends. On Thursday afternoon, qualifier Watson was on her bike out of the premises as she lost 6-4 6-2 to former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. After that defeat, she revealed to the media why she was shunning cars, saying: '(Bikes) are my means of transport. I'm a Lime biker through and through. 'I just really enjoy being out in the fresh air cycling. It's a great warmup, about 20 minutes from where I live to the NTC, so it's perfect for me. 'I won't be getting another car. I'm a cyclist. They used to drive me crazy, but now I'm one of them, and I have a different perspective. 'How was my car stolen? Oh, I won't bore you, but a couple years ago it got stolen. 'And it's just been breaking down ever since. Insurance? Biggest scam ever. They just try and rinse you. 'Yeah, disaster. I get discriminated against because I'm an athlete. So your prices are already….forget the cars. Not forever, but for now.' Watson is not the only sports star to be benefiting from Lime Bikes recently. The England Test team took up the mode of transport ahead of the match against the West Indies.
