Man admitted to Japan's 2025 World Expo with 85-year-old ticket

A man was admitted to the World Expo in Japan using a ticket to the 1940 Grand International Exposition of Japan, an event that was called off as war escalated, organisers said.
Tickets for the Grand International Exposition of Japan in Tokyo were released in 1938 but the event was postponed indefinitely as Japan became embroiled in the second world war.
Organisers of Expo 2025 in the western city of Osaka, which opened in April and runs until mid-October, said in a statement they had decided to admit holders of tickets to the 1940 event.

They exchanged one of the old tickets on Monday for two Expo 2025 passes, the statement said.
Local media reported that the 1940 ticket-holder was 25-year-old Fumiya Takenawa, who lives in Tokyo but was visiting his parents' home in Osaka.
Takenawa is a collector of expo-related memorabilia and in March he bought the 1940 ticket online, the Mainichi Shimbun daily and other outlets reported. They published a photograph of him smiling and holding up the old ticket, which features an elaborate red and black design.
The Expo or World's Fair, which brought the Eiffel Tower to Paris, began with London's 1851 Crystal Palace exhibition and is now held every five years in different locations.
Previous Expos in Japan – in Osaka in 1970 and in Aichi region in 2005 – have had similar policies of giving 'invitation tickets' to people holding passes for the 1940 event, the Expo 2025 organisers said Monday.
Takenawa was reportedly a fan of the huge white and red Tower of the Sun, the symbol of the 1970 Osaka Expo that still stands in a park in the metropolis.

Nintendo says sales of its Switch 2 hit a record within four days

Nintendo says it sold more than 3.5 million of its new Switch 2 gaming consoles within the first four days since its release — breaking a record for the company. In a Wednesday announcement, Nintendo said that this marks the 'highest global sales level' for any of hardware it's sold within that window of time. The Japanese gaming company officially launched the Switch 2 on June 5. Fans of the console's eight-year-old predecessor have been clamoring for an upgrade for years. Throngs of gamers stood in long lines outside stores for the Switch 2's release around the world last week — less than two months after a chaotic rush for preorders quickly sold out. Nintendo is counting on the Switch 2 to boost sagging sales. And in addition to a larger screen and new games, the console has added social features aimed at luring new players into online gaming. Nintendo has said it expects to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles for the fiscal year through March 2026. The 3.5 million sold in the first four days includes the Nintendo Switch 2's Mario Kart World Bundle, as well as the Switch 2's Japanes e-language and multi-language systems sold in Japan. The Switch 2's baseline price of $449.99 is significantly higher than the original Switch's $299 price tag. While new bells and whistles may account for a sizeable portion of that hike, experts have previously noted that new tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump are also a contributor. Evaluating the impact of these import taxes also led Nintendo to delay its April preorders by several weeks.

From Resident Evil to 007: the 15 best games at the Summer Game Fest

The ninth mainstream instalment in the survival horror series returns us to the wreckage of Racoon City and promises a blend of cinematic action and psychological horror. FBI agent Grace Ashcroft appears to be the main character, but is anything in this series ever what it seems? The latest project from Sega's Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (Yakuza, Like a Dragon) is a historical action adventure set in Japan during the early 21st century, featuring moody detectives, street gangs and jazz – a potent combo for this idiosyncratic team. Surely the dream combination: James Bond meets the team behind the Hitman series in an adventure that seeks to reboot the Bond backstory and legend. Featuring globe-trotting espionage, stealth and gadgets, it's the most exciting video game outing for Fleming's character since GoldenEye. A folkloric rural life sim, where you play as horticultural sorceress, tending to your garden and looking out for the darkness at the edge of the village. Developer Failbetter (Sunless Sea, Fallen London) are pioneers of narrative game design and the team is growing something special here. Australian developer House House had an unexpected smash hit with Untitled Goose Game – now it's back with a similarly unusual co-op adventure where players become bird-like creatures, exploring a mysterious puzzle-filled island. Like some sort of hallucinogenic 1970s children's animation come spectacularly to life. No one saw this coming: a big, dark post-apocalyptic action adventure from Game Freak, the creator of Pokémon. Set in a ruined Japan menaced by robots and monsters, you play as Emma the Sealer, using plants as weapons and aided by a faithful canine companion – and not a Jigglypuff in sight. Developer Outerloop (Thirsty Suitors) returns to its self-created subgenre – the cooking RPG – with this typically colourful sci-fi tale. Two sisters fight an evil corporation by preparing real food rather than artificial slop for their local community. Expect spices and feelings. Not so much a game as a bizarre TV simulator, Blippo+ encourages players to channel surf an alien broadcasting network, consuming soap operas, sitcoms and news reports in a haze of surreal, glitchy FMV. Hypnospace Outlaw meets Radio Times? Sure, go on then. Whoever had 'something that combines The Muppets with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!' on their Summer Game Fest wish list must be feeling pretty happy right now. New developer Sans Strings Studio has utilised the power of Unreal Engine 5 to produce the highly naturalistic puppet boxing odyssey the world desperately needs. After the hugely successful inZOI, here's another indie take on The Sims, which pares down the experience to a single-player life adventure with no DLC, but lots of home customisation options, characters to meet and pets to, um, pet. A time-warping steampunk adventure from the makers of Wasteland and Saints Row. There's a hint of Bioshock in its setting: a dystopian future city where inhabitants augment themselves with clockwork cyber limbs. What could possibly go wrong? Finally, Atlus has confirmed a remake of its legendary 2008 role-playing adventure set amid occult rituals and gruesome murders in rural Japan. Little is known beyond the title, but that's enough to get us interested. You've inherited a creaky old hotel and now you have 30 days to renovate it while solving puzzles and exploring the labyrinthine hallways. Part renovation sim, part spooky adventure, this was a real standout at the Xbox showcase. The latest bizarre concoction from Psychonauts developer Double Fine has you controlling an anthropomorphic lighthouse as it explores a coastal realm together with its sea bird companion. What are they putting in the water at this studio? The world doesn't need another deck-building strategy game – unless it's also a courtroom drama in which you're a team of environmentalists suing a corrupt billionaire for poisoning a river. Timely stuff from Amsterdam-based studio Speculative Agency.

Bianca Censori's little sister Angelina becomes part of Kayne West's squad as she joins her sibling and rapper in Japan after spending time with couple in Spain

Angelina Censori, the little sister of Kanye West 's wife Bianca, appears to have officially joined the rapper's squad. After hanging out with Kanye and his crew in Spain last month, the 20-year-old model is travelling with the rapper's entourage in Japan. She took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a series of photos of their latest trip, including photos of herself dining at popular chain restaurant WAGYUMAFIA and shopping at a high-end store. Meanwhile, a photo of the rapper, 48, posing in designer vintage store Amore also emerged online. He cut a casual figure for the shopping trip in a plain black hooded jumper with the hood pulled over his head. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Standing in front of a mauve coloured pillar, Kanye sported a blank expression as he posed. A second image also emerged showing graffiti scrawled on a wall that read: 'Ye is GOD,' while a third, bore the name of Kanye and ex wife Kim Kardashian's eldest child North West. It comes after Bianca's lookalike sister sent pulses racing with an array of risqué snaps while on holiday in Spain with her sister and Kanye. 'Hola,' she captioned the post, which saw the busty Melbourne-based model show off her killer abs, trim pins and slender figure. Her raven hair was tied back in a bun and she wore dainty, gold hoop earrings, white nail polish on her toes and light makeup on her sun-kissed face. The photo shoot comes after Bianca angered Spanish locals as she bared her breasts in a sheer bra during a shopping trip with her husband and sister in the country. The 30-year-old wandered from stall to stall wearing a black fishnet bra top with her nipples in full view while visiting the booths of an outdoor market in Mallorca. Locals were 'left horrified' as the couple walked through the market in the revealing ensemble. During the trip, an image emerged showing graffiti scrawled on a wall that read: 'Ye is GOD,' while a third, bore the name of Kanye and ex wife Kim Kardashian's eldest child North West 'People were horrified. They could be heard asking "Is that her real nipple?" as they walked by,' one witness told 'Kanye was standing back a little, letting her browse the market.' During the trip, Angelina also shut down speculation she is dating Kanye West's business partner Sneako. The rumours came after she shared a series of photos from the Mallorca trip. One image featured Sneako sitting on a balustrade and posing for the camera at the incredible waterfront property Kanye was believed to be staying in. Many flocked to social media to speculate the pair could be an item as they seem to be getting cosy. However, Angelina shut down romance rumours by writing on X: 'We are not dating.'
