Rival School Mariachi Groups Join Forces for Impromptu Performance at Burger Joint
Patrons and staff at a fast-food restaurant in Refugio, Texas, were treated to an impromptu performance from two rival school mariachi groups when they both stopped there to eat after taking part in a regional competition.
This footage was captured by music teacher Erin Ruth Lara, who said that after participating in a University Interscholastic League competition, students in the Klein Collins High School mariachi group stopped off at a Whataburger, where they unexpectedly ran into their counterparts from Sam Houston High School.
'The meeting up of both mariachis was unplanned, and when we told the students to go grab their instruments, the rest became history,' Lara told Storyful.

FRISCO - Call us skeptical, but it's difficult to get too excited about a supposed "culture change" in June when NFL pads are still six weeks from poppin'. Advertisement We know, last year Dan Quinn was hired by the Washington Commanders and he changed their culture. Jayden Daniels helped too, right? Same with the stern disciplinarian that was Bill Belichick in New England. Funny how his "Patriot Way" culture didn't really amount to much until Tom Brady went under center. There is a buzz at The Star - one that is being amplified with the fan boy websites x 1,000 - about how new head coach Brian Schottenheimer has transformed the Dallas Cowboys' culture this offseason. First he re-arranged the chairs in the locker room. Installed a ping-pong table. Basketball free-throw contests. Bought the whole staff Whataburger one day. Took players on a surprise field trip to play paintball. And now ... Greek dancing? Seems Schottenheimer took the Cowboys' quarterbacks on some sort of Greek outing recently. There is video of Dak Prescott, Will Grier and Joe Milton dancing amongst the Greek tradition of throwing and breaking plates. Advertisement Schottenheimer has lauded the "juice" he has injected into the team. Prescott, so far, seems to embrace the activities aimed at improving camaraderie. "Energy 100 percent, a lot of it ... and starting from Schotty and down to the coaches," Prescott said during OTAs. "I mean, he did a hell of a job of calling out the coaches in that instance yesterday and making sure that they're accountable to that. And just to hear their response—and not only their response—the way that they approached practice and the way that they administered some energy and brought it themselves and made sure their players in each position group had it—collectively, you felt it out there in the practice yesterday and obviously today as well." Charming. But ... will it make any difference at all on the football field? Advertisement It was just two years ago that the Cowboys' "culture" was good enough to win 12 games and make the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. If the organization really wants - needs? - a culture change, it would have to start at the top with Jerry Jones. Right? Bill Parcells tried to change the Cowboys' culture by having long, deep-dive talks with his players. Dave Campo instituted a rule in which players wore hard hats and punched a time clock at training camp. Those tricks sorta lost their steam when the coaches trotted out quarterbacks such as Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson. Jimmy Johnson always gets credit for his hard-nosed culture at Valley Ranch in the 1990s - "asthma field" ring a bell? - but, again, we tend to think Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin had more to do with the success. Said Schottenheimer during OTAs, "We've spoken very openly about trying to create one of the greatest cultures in professional sports." KATSEYE's Lara Raj Explains Why She Unapologetically Wears Her Bindi
Bea Oyster In Teen Vogue's May/June 2025 cover story, KATSEYE member Lara Raj opens up about the inspirations behind her style and how she uses it to represent her Indian culture. Among the many aspects of her typical beauty routine, one of the things most noted by fans, known as EYEKONS, is her bindi. Ever since she debuted on the competition series Dream Academy to earn her spot in HYBE and Universal Music Group subsidiary Geffen's collaborative global girl group, Lara has been known to wear a bindi with many of her looks, regardless of her makeup or outfit for the day. The bindi is a cultural staple for many South Asians, representing core Hindu beliefs and highlighting moments of bonding between friends and family. Such is relatable for Lara, who tells Teen Vogue that her love for fashion and beauty was ignited by her family, especially her mother. 'My mom loves to wear her traditional wedding jewelry with American clothes, which I always thought was so cool growing up,' she says. While the fusion of her shared Easter and Western cultures was inspired by her mother, Lara's dedication to wearing these blended looks on stage also comes from facing stereotypes in her childhood and how she could change things for the next generation. She explains, 'I really wanted to make something like the Ohm necklace or the bindi into a fashion statement and something that people could see as, 'Whoa, that's so sick!' and, 'That's so fire!' And other brown girls, they want to wear it too, as a thing. It's not something to get made fun of for. Because I always got made fun of for it, I really want to change that.' Since these are part of her signature style, they're likely to stay, even while she experiments with new trends. 'I'm trying to be a little bit more chic recently,' she says in our interview. 'Chic is so not my thing. I love sleek clothing, and I like black. I like glamour. And Diesel, Balenciaga, those are my favorite brands in the world. But I'm trying to get more into Miu Miu, Chanel. I even bought Tabis a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to experiment with that.' 'I feel like it feels a little uncomfortable on me because it's so posh in a way, which is so the opposite of my style,' she adds. 'But I don't want to be boxed anymore. I feel like I have a style and that's my thing, and it's always black or chrome or something like that, and I want to expand and be a little bit more fashionable.' Watch as a sea of blonde lookalikes hit the water 'What an amazing morning with nearly 200 Marilyns taking to the water in Donabate all for women's cancer care in the Mater. Darlings, you're all superstars!!' the Mater Hospital Foundation said. Marilyn Monroe(s) of all shapes and sizes recently showed up and showed out for a good cause. Nearly 200 women — all dressed like the blonde bombshell and Hollywood icon — took a quick dip in Balcarrick Beach in Donabate, a suburb of Dublin, to raise awareness and funds for women's cancer care on May 25. The charity swim event, hosted by the Mater Hospital Foundation, raised over €33,000, or $37,000, during this year's Marilyn's Mater Paddle, the most swinging, glamorous and glitzy event of the summer. The foundation is the official charity supporting the work of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin. The goal of the second annual Marilyn's Mater Paddle was to provide "urgent funding where it's needed most in our hospital so we can speed up cancer diagnosis, enhance treatments and provide world-class care to the women from all over Ireland who come through our doors,' the foundation told Storyful. Some of the women were seen looping arms with one another as they rushed towards the water. "What an amazing morning with nearly 200 Marilyns taking to the water in Donabate all for women's cancer care in the Mater. Darlings, you're all superstars!!" the foundation said in an Instagram post. "Thank you to everyone who participated and all who supported!"
