DFSK South Africa have finally announced the pricing of R550 000 for its EC35 electric panel van it describes as an 'innovative and affordable electric vehicle designed to meet the demands of South African businesses while contributing to a greener future'. 'The EC35 is designed to be a practical, eco-conscious choice for South African businesses that need a reliable vehicle for cargo transport,' says Gina Giani, CEO DFSK South Africa. 'We are committed to providing an affordable, reliable and powerful electric alternative for businesses.' For the city The EC35 features a 38.6-kWh battery and produces 60kW/200Nm of torque, with a top speed of 100km/h. The claimed all-electric range is 240km. A unique feature though is that the EC35 is full solar compatible, and can also be charged by plugging it into your normal, everyday house plug, which will take somewhat longer than making use of a public fast charging station, which is said to charge the EC35 from empty to full in 60 minutes. This is something that will be needed to be taken into account because with a real-world range of around 200km only, there will be a lot of planning required around charging stops. Specs Despite being a workhorse, specification items consist of a 6.8-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB, voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a driver's airbag, air conditioning, electric windows, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, keyless entry, auto locking doors and anti-lock brakes. The important load carrying numbers come in at a volume of 4.8m³, a payload of 1 015kg and dimensions of 2 570mm in length, 1 270mm in height and 1 630mm in overall width. EC35 has dual sliding doors and a flip-up tailgate instead of a split barn-style layout.
