36 Things That'll Elevate Your Home's Aesthetic

Buzz Feed21-05-2025

A paper standing lamp that'll add soft, diffused light to any space so you can continue to live your best life — AKA one where you never ever have to flick on an overhead light.
A baroque-inspired mirror — with a gorg gilded frame — if you've long dreamt of owning ***that*** Anthropologie mirror but don't want to take out a second mortgage on your home in order to do so. This baby starts at just $90!!!!!
Some vintage-inspired wall sconces so you don't have to use your cellphone flashlight to find the remote that's lost in your duvet for the fifth time tonight. Plus, they don't require any electrical work! You can pick between a plug-in version or one with rechargeable lightbulbs.
A ready-made gallery wall set with eight frames and matching prints because if you're anything like me, you LOVE the look but get super anxious thinking about curating one on your own.
A set of two nesting drum tables that look like they'd be featured in one of Architectural Digest's celeb home tours. While they're pretty low-profile as is, if you ever need to free up additional space you can tuck them inside of one another like a Russian nesting doll. 🪆
A wireless library light you can position over your impressive book collection or favorite family portrait. This thing costs less than 30 bucks, but it'll transform your den into a museum-worthy exhibit.
A floor-length arched mirror so when the time comes that you have to dress your whole body again (and not just the part that your colleagues see on Google Meet), you'll be able to gauge if you still understand fashion.
A peel-and-stick jungle mural that'll have your guests waking up wondering if they're at their friend's place in the burbs or if they actually checked into one of the hotels from The White Lotus.
Some lush velvet blackout curtains if the only way you can get any shut-eye is What We Do in the Shadows–style pitch black quarters.
Some beautiful wall-mounted amber bottles because waking up at 6 a.m. to get ready for your office job sucks, but these at least make you feel like you're getting ready in a hotel.
A contemporary sling chair you can add to your primary bedroom or even use in place of a couch if you have a teensy tiny living room.
A stark white duvet cover sure to make your space feels uber bright and clean even if there's a week's worth of laundry hiding on the side of your bed.
And a gauzy cotton throw you can drape across the end of your bed in a perfectly imperfect manner. Did you just spend 10 minutes making sure it looks like you only spent 10 seconds placing it? Yes, but that's between you and me.
A boucle pillow cover duo if the element your living room is missing is texture!! Even if you pick these babies up in beige or oatmeal, the nubby fabric will add dimension to your space.
A set of solid ash wishbone chairs that look a hell of a lot like way more expensive options — but for a fraction of the cost. Perhaps the best part is that they come fully assembled, so you don't have to spend even one second sweating or cursing as you get your dining area together.
A 100% jute rug made from super durable plant fibers, so if it's in an area that gets heavy foot traffic or just happens to be your pup's favorite place to lay about, no one will be the wiser.
A simple framed print you can hang over the commode or balance on a windowsill in order to create a prettier focal point in your bathroom.
A candle-warming lamp if you're the type who avoids overhead lighting like the plague. If you place it in your kitchen, it'll help dissipate food smells, too, which is a major win!
A faux olive tree that'll bring a little life to your space even if it isn't technically living...
An inexpensive — and WASHABLE — boho area rug capable of tying an entire room together *and* hiding that one spot on the floor you burned with hookah coal. (True Life: This Happened To One Of My Friends.)
Or a faux cowhide rug with playful flecks of gold that catch the light wherever it's put. Just want to emphasize again that this is a *faux* option, so it doesn't smell, doesn't shed, and — most importantly — doesn't harm any adorable cows named Bessie or Buttercup!
A modern waterfall bench if you're purposely looking for options that lack storage so your room can't collect clutter.
A lightweight, easy-to-install plastic ceiling medallion that will make you feel like you live in a French chateau and not a postage-stamp-sized apartment where your kitchen, living room, and bedroom are all one and the same.
A velvet ottoman with a tassel rope fringe you won't be able to resist running your fingers (or toes, tbh) through.
A quilted chenille floor pillow if you love having company over, but space is at a minimum, so extra accent chairs are out of the question. I mean, who didn't love floor time as a kid?
A bundle of faux pampas grass that totally nails the au natural, bohemian look you've been longing to achieve. Plus, you don't have to water them! Win win.
A set of mid-century modern-inspired dining room chairs I could honestly stare at for a good hour. The rattan! The velvet! The cantilevered design! ::swoon::
Some glue-on foam ceiling tiles if you live in a new build that's sorely lacking character and/or you love the look of the real thing but don't trust yourself to use a nail gun or miter saw.
A faux book display that actually hides cords and cables in its hollow interior. If your router is ruining the aesthetic of your bookshelf or media stand, this is the solution!
A fancy new switch plate cover cause if you live in a rental like me, chances are your existing ones are covered in what TikTok likes to call the "landlord special" — approx. 46 coats of chipping paint.
A multi-globe floor lamp if you have an empty corner that could not only use a little bit of light, but some mid-century modern-inspired flair.
A faux leather tissue box cover guaranteed to make your Kleenex a work of art instead of an eyesore.
A beautiful bath mat that'll match all of your beloved Persian rugs. You may have had to painstakingly source the latter from vintage emporiums and Facebook Marketplace, but this baby will ship straight to your door in two days.
A decorative fruit bowl or catchall dish if your style could best be described as "looks like Joanna Gaines picked it out."
A floral wall mural that'll make you feel like you're waking up in a chic Parisian apartment. Brb, gonna go watch Amélie again and dream of being in Montmartre.
And some peel-and-stick stair riser decals if you're a beginner DIY king/queen, so sanding/refinishing wood or installing actual tiles is still a bit outside of your skill set.

Whether you're packing for an upcoming vacation or need something for everyday wear, we found lots of top-rated options to ride out a heat wave in style. We selected Anthropologie's Somerset Maxi Dress as our pick for best summer dress overall for its flattering fit and sophisticated silhouette. We also discovered great options from Madewell, Quince, Everlane and Jenni Kayne. The best summer dresses are breathable, lightweight, and of course, stylish. All of our picks are made from lightweight fabrics like linen or cotton, and they have various coverage levels and design details to suit different tastes. Below are the best summer dresses that we highly recommend. And for fancier events, we put together where to find the best little black dresses and the best mother-of-the-bride dresses. Anthropologie Anthropologie is a go-to source for day-to-night dresses with a bohemian-glamorous feel. The Somerset Maxi Dress is an elegant and classy option with a v-neck, smocked waist and longer length. Petite and plus sizes are also available. The strapless edition of this dress is also a winner. Jenni Kayne An airy sundress is a warm-weather wardrobe staple. This pick from Jenni Kayne has thin straps, a subtle v-neck and pockets—a key feature for comfort and convenience. Keep in mind that this dress is dry-clean only and runs a bit large, so reviewers recommend sizing down for a more fitted look. Madewell Madewell knows how to follow trends but also make them wearable, and this dress is a prime example. This style features a scoop neck and subtle seam detailing for visual interest, and it dips slightly low to show off your back as well. It's cut from a cotton lyocell blend, which makes it have just the right amount of softness and flow, rather than the stiffness of classic denim. Pair it with sneakers and a canvas tote for a day at the farmer's market, or add chunky hoop earrings and low, strappy sandals for a night out. Banana Republic For days you want to wear something elevated yet comfortable, throw on this polished shirtdress from Banana Republic. The crisp, cotton material is cool and breathable, and it has thoughtful details like on-seam front pockets and an adjustable self-tie belt. It comes in four gorgeous summer brights. Quince This is classic example of what to wear when you don't want to think too hard about your outfit. It's made from 100% organic cotton poplin that's cool and breathable, it's gathered at the waist to show off your shape, it has pretty tiers, and it also has pockets. It comes in thirteen colors, so you can get one for every day of the week and then some. To note: The light colors are lined so you don't have to worry about them being see through. Everlane Think of this as your go-anywhere dress for hot days. It features a wearable relaxed fit that hits just above the knee with a high-low hem for extra coverage in back. The Daytripper goes just as well with sandals as it does with dressy sneakers, and you can belt it if you're looking for a more streamlined silhouette. Wear this to the farmer's market, the beach or for lunch in town. Note that this is roomy, so you may have to size down. Farm Rio Farm Rio excels at creating stylish summer dresses from happy tropical prints and bold florals. This dress—in a more subdued tapestry print—is something you can throw on to elevate your look for almost any occasion. It has a bra-friendly V-neck, flirty flutter sleeve and a smocked waist to show off your shape. Old Navy For a polished and stylish throw-on-and-go outfit, this short-sleeve shirt dress from Old Navy is a great choice. The sleeves hit right above the elbows, and there's a patch pocket on the front. This dress comes in regular, tall or petite fits. Torrid Torrid has an extensive selection of plus-size summer dresses in different silhouettes. This easy style features stretchy, soft rib knit fabric that moves with you, an undergarment-friendly high neckline and functional pockets. Reviewers love that the fabric is breathable and that it can be dressed up or down. Amazon This affordable jersey dress can be worn everywhere from the beach to running errands. Pair the simple, body-skimming style with flat sandals or cute sneakers, and top it with a denim jacket or cropped cardigan when temperatures cool down at night. It comes in black, navy, olive and pink, but we're partial to this always stylish, Parisian-inspired stripe. Summer calls for having lots of throw-on-and-go dresses. Below are several additional styles we love for looking good when temperatures heat up. This easy linen mini looks beautiful whether you're wearing it for daytime or dressed up for a cocktail party. The tiered ruffle hem adds visual interest without adding bulk. We love the high neck shift style with flat sandals, minimalist jewelry and a great raffia bag. It comes in natural or navy. Dôen Dôen is a female-founded brand known for its romantic, whimsical designs and delicate floral prints with a vintage flair. The Ischia Dress, which debuted in 2021, is one of the brand's most popular styles. It has a scoop neckline with a smocked bodice, adjustable waist tie, puffed sleeves and dainty ruffles around the neckline. Saks Los Angeles-based Staud is known for timeless, chic dresses that are supremely wearable. True to form, this fit-and-flare style has a vintage-inspired shape, but the corset design and square neckline give it a stylish update. Reformation This minimalist shift dress is crafted from 100% linen and has a relaxed fit that's ideal for hot days when you don't want to wear anything too clingy. It's available in a handful of summer-friendly colors, but we're partial to the Slate Check pattern. Lulus The California-based label has endless dresses to choose from, including this gorgeous floral print maxi with adjustable spaghetti straps, a fitted waist and crisscross back. If you don't love pink, this style comes in five other floral hues that are equally vibrant. Zara Zara's Halter Crochet Knit Mini Dress is an effortless choice for your next warm-weather date or night out. Wear it with a strappy flat sandal and big earrings, and put your hair up to show off the halter neckline. To note: Given the semi see-through nature of this textured fabric, you'll want to choose your undergarments carefully, or opt to wear it over a swim suit. Favorite Daughter Having a black dress in your arsenal is a good idea, as it's easy to accessorize and dress up or down. This option from Favorite Daughter kicks things up a notch with a back bow-tie detail, wide straps and a long, flowy skirt. Bloomingdales A simple T-shirt dress is a carefree basic that can keep you cool on high humidity days. Leset's iteration features a round neckline, structured short sleeves and 100% cotton construction. The length hits at the mid-thigh. Solid & Striped Whether you're headed to a summer wedding, fancy date night or rooftop happy hour, this best-selling dress is bound to earn you plenty of compliments. The strapless top is fitted, but the knit skirt has a relaxed shape for hot, humid days (and nights). This dress comes in an impressive eight colors. H&M This fit-and-flare style—with its fitted bodice and a flared skirt—is simple and airy but it also has plenty of movement. It features a sweetheart neckline and thin straps while the bodice has smocking at the back for a secure fit. Posse The Label Posse The Label is a celebrity-loved Australian label known for its simple, elegant and well-made pieces. This mid-weight linen shift dress has an elegant square neckline, side seam pockets and an easy-to-wear A-line silhouette. Hill House Home Hill House Home's Nap Dresses have made the brand an Instagram hit. The silhouettes are breezy, easy to wear and flattering. This style comes in multiple colors and prints, and the dress is finished with elasticated smocking, ruffled shoulders, a tiered midi skirt and pockets. It comes in 18 different summer prints. Lisa Kudrow Reveals Why She Might 'Avoid' Joining 'The White Lotus' Season 4

Lisa Kudrow revealed that she would love to work with Mike White during a conversation with Parker Posey for Variety's Actors on Actors series When Posey said Kudrow should join season 4 of The White Lotus, the Friends alum expressed hesitation for taking on a role that is "too dark" Kudrow also revealed that she might not be White's "cup of tea," but joked that she'd let Posey know if she was offered a partLisa Kudrow might've just landed her next role. The Friends alum, 61, sat down with Parker Posey for the June 6 episode of Variety's Actors on Actors series, where they reflected on their careers and opened up about recent projects. As they talked about Posey's fan-favorite role on season 3 of The White Lotus, she questioned if Kudrow would join the next installment of the iconic series. 'Work with Mike White?' Kudrow replied, naming the show's creator. 'Yes. That's a quick answer. I love Mike White.' Although her interactions with White have been limited to hanging out with him at a party, Kudrow revealed that she is also a big fan of his work. 'Brad's Status was my favorite movie of that year,' she said of the 2017 comedy, which White wrote, directed and acted in. 'I emailed him to let him know because I had to. It was so good, I had to, and I don't do that a lot.' 'Lisa, you should be in season 4 [of The White Lotus],' Posey, 56, chimed in. 'You need to be a part.' Gushing over her character Victoria Ratliff, a wealthy North Carolina wife and mother of three who is unaware that her husband's business is under investigation during their vacation in Thailand, added that Kudrow needs to experience the power of the show's writers as they uncover 'the complexity of people.' 'Well, we'll see,' Kudrow joked. 'I'm not asked, but I'll have to let you know.' When Posey highlighted White's unpredictable storylines, the No Good Deed star admitted that she 'might not be his cup of tea.' 'Which is allowed to happen,' she noted. 'But no, I'm a huge Mike White fan.' 'I know you're his cup of tea,' Posey interjected. 'I'm going to text him after this to ensure that you know that you are!' Still, Kudrow had some hesitation about how she would fit into the series. 'I do get nervous about inhabiting things that are too dark,' she confessed. 'I try to avoid that.' Variety confirmed that The White Lotus has been renewed for a fourth season in January 2025, a month before the premiere of season 3, which broke records with 6.2 million viewers tuning in for the finale in April.
