Three Winning Technological Projects at ICESCO Youth Training Program

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) concluded its program on training youth on setting up and developing small projects in the fields of technology and innovation in the Republic of Sierra Leone.
The close of the training program, implemented by ICESCO's Science and Environment Sector, in partnership with the Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone, was marked by the announcement of three winning projects, out of the 49 participating teams at the national level.
During the two-day event, contestants presented their projects before a jury. During his remarks at the opening session, Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Advisor at the Sector of Science and Environment, stressed the importance of integrating the youth of the Islamic world in the fields of entrepreneurship, modern technology and innovation to contribute to achieving sustainable development in their communities.
Winning first place, the Mamawa Muyengay Agric Business team presented their project to integrate and improve the living conditions of youth, women and the elderly in rural areas through building their capacities in the fields of cassava farming.
The second place went to Mujehva Plastic and Sand Paving Enterprise, for their projects to recycle plastic to make sustainable pavements, while the third place went to MS Agro Rice Farming, a project dedicated to rice farming in inland valleys to promote best practices in the field of agriculture.

Egypt, Germany Discuss Gaza Ceasefire, Bilateral Cooperation
H-Tayea President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call on Thursday with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to congratulate him on his electoral victory. President El-Sisi expressed his best wishes for the new German government and praised the trust placed in Chancellor Merz by the German people. He emphasized the critical importance of the current moment in light of rapidly evolving regional and international dynamics and highlighted the urgent need to uphold the principles of international law and long-standing global norms—an area in which Germany has extensive experience. According to Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, President El-Sisi underlined Egypt's desire to strengthen its close partnership with Germany, particularly in economic, trade, and investment sectors, as well as in development cooperation that benefits both nations. Chancellor Merz thanked President El-Sisi for the congratulatory gesture and affirmed Germany's commitment to its strong ties with Egypt. Both leaders agreed on the need to deepen bilateral relations across all fields and to continue coordination on regional stability and development. The call also addressed ongoing regional and international issues. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt's efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and stressed the need for the international community to push for an immediate end to military operations in the Strip. He reiterated Egypt's total rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians and emphasized the importance of expanding international recognition of the State of Palestine in line with the two-state solution. The leaders also discussed developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia. Egypt Offers Condolences to India Over Plane Crash Victims
Amir Hagag Egypt expressed its sincere condolences to India over the victims of the Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad Airport in western India on Thursday morning, which resulted in a large number of casualties. Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with the Republic of India, both government and people, in confronting the effects of the horrific accident, and its condolences to the families of the victims, both Indian and of all other nationalities. A passenger plane carrying 242 people crashed in western India. Authorities announced that at least 30 people were killed in the crash, which was supposed to be heading to London, minutes after takeoff. The shekel exchange rate also fell sharply against the US dollar and the euro. The shekel lost 1% of its value against the dollar, reaching 3.562 shekels per dollar, and the shekel rose against the euro, reaching 4.105 shekels per euro.
