Egypt's Dar al-Ifta Issues Fatwa Permitting Delegated Hajj Due to Illness
Mohamed Mandour Egypt's Dar al-Ifta has issued a religious ruling (fatwa) permitting individuals suffering from chronic illness or old age to commission others to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of hajj on their behalf. The fatwa, grounded in Islamic tradition, cites a narration from Abdullah Ibn Abbas in which a woman sought the Prophet Muhammad's guidance about her elderly father's inability to undertake the hajj pilgrimage. The Prophet reportedly responded affirmatively, permitting her to perform hajj on his behalf — a narration found in the collections of Bukhari and Muslim. According to the fatwa, those classified as ma'dub — individuals permanently incapable of travel due to health or age — may delegate someone else to fulfill the religious obligation. Dar al-Ifta outlined several conditions for the permissibility of such delegation: The expenses for the pilgrimage must come from the person commissioning the hajj, whether living or deceased, or from donated funds if the deceased did not leave instructions. The person performing the hajj must clearly intend to do so on behalf of the one who is unable to go. The agent must have already completed their own obligatory hajj. The ruling underscores Islamic jurisprudence's flexibility in accommodating individuals facing physical hardship. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

MCE Participates in Astana International Forum
Mohamed Mandour The Muslim Council of Elders participated in the Astana International Forum (AIF), hosted in the Kazakh capital, Astana, under the theme 'Connecting Minds: Shaping the Future.' The forum, held from May 29 to 30, brought together a wide range of global leaders and decision-makers and aimed to advance international dialogue and multilateral cooperation to address complex global challenges that require coordinated and comprehensive responses. During a panel session titled 'The Innovation Challenge: Making Climate Action Work for All,' the Muslim Council of Elders emphasized that the Document on Human Fraternity—signed in Abu Dhabi in 2019 by Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, and the late Pope Francis, former head of the Catholic Church—advocates the values of peace, justice, solidarity, and respect for the environment. The document is founded on the shared ethical and spiritual principles of the world's religions. The Council added that all religions call for respect for nature, the prevention of corruption on Earth, and the assumption of responsibility toward creation. These are not only spiritual principles but also moral foundations that can serve as a global reference point to support climate action. It noted that the role of faith leaders in this regard extends beyond moral guidance to awakening human conscience, strengthening collective responsibility, and mobilizing communities to adopt more sustainable lifestyles. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

MCE Strongly Condemns Israeli Violations in Jerusalem
Mohamed Mandour The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, strongly condemns the provocative actions and ongoing violations committed by the Israeli occupation in the city of Jerusalem, including repeated incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Council firmly rejects these oppressive practices, which constitute a blatant provocation to the sentiments of more than two billion Muslims worldwide and serve as a dangerous incitement to hatred and violence. The Council calls for the immediate cessation of such inciteful practices, accountability for those responsible, and the adoption of all necessary measures to prevent their recurrence. It also stresses the need to respect the legal status of the city of Jerusalem and to halt all illegal and unlawful measures against Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Muslim Council of Elders reiterates its call for the international community to uphold its responsibilities by working toward an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the unhindered delivery of urgent humanitarian aid and relief, and ending the prolonged hardship endured by the Palestinian people for more than 70 years. The Council reaffirms the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
